Israel’s Shin Bet Prepared For Months, Used Gaza Informants to Capture Hamas Spy Chief
“Israeli security officials describe commander of Hamas’s internal security apparatus Muein al-Arabid … as an “intelligence gold mine”.”
With Hamas shell-shocked by the daring capture of its spy chief, the Gaza-based Islamist group is trying to piece together how Israel struck right at the heart of its terrorist network.
Muin al-Arabid, who ran Hamas’s spying and repressive security apparatus in Gaza, was successfully nabbed by Israel’s Shin Bet special forces early this week. He is now in Israeli custody and has been described by officials as an “intelligence gold mine” in the war against Hamas terrorism.
Once a feared Hamas enforcer, al-Arabid is already spilling the beans on his former terrorist paymasters. The Times of Israel revealed that “al-Arabid is cooperating with interrogators and providing what is described as valuable information on the terror group’s weapons, personnel and infrastructure in Gaza.”
Israel’s Ynetnews reported that “Hamas is trying to reconstruct how Israeli forces managed to capture one of its most senior internal security officials in the heart of Gaza.” This “involved months of preparation, undercover activity, local informants and even ammunition containing a sedative,” Hamas sources told Arab media.
Shin Bet operatives reportedly entered al-Arabid’s hideout posing as aid workers. They recruited a network of local informants to keep close tabs on the Hamas spy master. Mobile footage captured by onlookers shows a white van pulling up in the area, ending in al-Arabid’s capture after a fierce gunfight.

These claims, if authentic, are a testament to the ability of Israeli operatives to blend in and operate undetected deep inside Hamas territory for months.
Furthermore, the significant role played by Palestinian informants exposes Hamas’s cratering popularity and weakening grip over its terrorist fiefdom.
Ynetnews continued:
Saudi newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat published Hamas’ account Friday of the unusual operation that led to the arrest of Muin al-Arabid, described as the head of Hamas’ internal security apparatus in the Gaza Strip.
According to Hamas sources who spoke with the newspaper, preparations began about two months before the raid.
They claimed Shin Bet personnel posed as workers for an international aid organization and encouraged local residents to set up food and drink stalls near al-Arabid’s home. The alleged goal was to gather intelligence and monitor his movements until the special force was ready to act. (…)
Hamas sources claimed the operation also relied on Palestinians, including women, who distributed vegetables to residents each day and were later asked to collect information about specific homes and the movements of people in the area, including al-Arabid.
According to Hamas’ version, most of the intelligence came from collaborators. The sources said the Israeli special force did not remain in the area continuously before the operation, but entered on several short occasions to complete intelligence gathering and finalize the plan.
They claimed that on the day of the raid, additional people arrived in the area, some of them Shin Bet personnel, alongside those already operating the stalls.
According to the account, weapons had been concealed inside the stalls. When the operation began, the undercover personnel allegedly pulled out the weapons, joined the raid and later disappeared from the area.
According to Asharq Al-Awsat, the force attempted to surprise al-Arabid as he left his home with one of his escorts. Hamas sources claimed al-Arabid managed to open fire at the force, while Israeli personnel fired ammunition that they alleged contained a sedative.
One of his escorts, two of al-Arabid’s sons and his wife then opened fire at the force, according to the account, and were hit during the exchange. At the same time, a drone dropped an explosive device on the house.
Al-Arabid, the sources claimed, managed to escape through the rear of the house while wounded.
But another Israeli team was allegedly waiting there. An earlier report had similarly said that a second force was positioned behind the house to secure the structure and intercept al-Arabid if he tried to flee.
The confrontation quickly developed into a sustained firefight involving two of al-Arabid’s sons and two bodyguards, according to Hamas’ account. The sources further alleged that Israeli forces shot al-Arabid’s wife in the head at close range, killing her. His two sons and two bodyguards were seriously wounded, they said.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Tuesday revealed the details of the operation, stating that “ISA [the Israel Security Agency or Shin Bet] special forces entered a structure in the Gaza City area and apprehended the head of Hamas’ Internal Security in the Gaza Strip.”
The nabbed spy chief played a key role in Hamas’s bid to rebuild itself in Gaza. “The apprehended terrorist has recently worked to consolidate the Hamas terrorist organization’s control over the northern Gaza Strip and to advance terrorist attacks against IDF troops deployed in the area of the Yellow Line,” the statement added. “The terrorist was transferred for further questioning by security forces inside the State of Israel.”

Meanwhile, the Israeli military continued its counter-terrorism operations in Gaza, eliminating another Hamas commander who took hostages and committed atrocities on October 7, 2023. The IDF on Friday disclosed that it “conducted a strike in the Khan Yunis area in the southern Gaza Strip and eliminated the terrorist Muhammad Mahmoud Marshad Al-Qadi, a Nukhba company commander in Hamas’ military wing.”
“Al-Qadi infiltrated the Sufa outpost during the October 7th Massacre and commanded the infiltration of the outpost. Throughout the war, he took part in holding hostages in Hamas captivity in the Rafah area,” the IDF added. “Recently, Al-Qadi led training for Hamas terrorists and operated to rehabilitate the terrorist organization’s capabilities.”

The skill and planning on some of these operations is impressive. However, I’d rather they shut their mouths, and let us read about the successes — and have more of them. No reason to reveal methods.
Isrealis aren’t revealing anything. This is all coming from Hamas and Arab media
I thought that too
The Palestinians are n serious danger
They literally said the women who delivered vegetables and fruit
Amazing,
Serious wounds is not death. They should have finished the sons off.
Israel will get all of them, No matter how many years it takes. They all will eliminate them all. Past history bears this out. Always looking over your shoulder is a poor way to live out the rest of your live. Could that be a more just punishment than death?
I always wanted to be a Nazi hunter
Now I would love to be an Islamist terrorist hunter
Terrible at languages unfortunately and

Much of a honey pot abilities in my playbook anymore

The story was reported through a Saudi newspaper first. The usual anonymous sources. Here’s the twist. I’ll bet those sources were Israeli. Why you ask? Because now every hamas commander will be looking at the other commanders wondering who’s next. Who did the chief of security give up during questioning? Are all our safe houses compromised? Who can I trust? Perfect post mission wrap up.
Sing monkey, sing!! 🤣🤣
