Woman Arrested for Allegedly Vandalizing WWII Memorial in Washington, DC

A Kentucky woman has been arrested for allegedly vandalizing the WWII Memorial in Washington, DC, with spray paint and a bubbling agent she dumped into the water.
While vandalizing this memorial is positively grotesque on its face, it looks like the work of another mentally ill person, engaging in what she thinks is activism, spurred on by Democrats and the media who have spent weeks fanning the flames of hysteria over the Reflecting Pool.
WWII Memorial vandalism suspect in custody, charged with two felonies, Pirro says
The suspect accused of vandalizing the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C., has been charged with two federal offenses for injuring/depredating U.S. property and the destruction of a veterans’ memorial, according to court documents.
The DOJ is accusing Kentucky woman Melissa L. Farris of an act of vandalism which occurred Thursday. The words “Clean hands, dirty money,” were spray-painted on the memorial in bright pink paint along with dumping bubble soap into the fountain at the center of the memorial, according to authorities.
Federal prosecutors allege that cleanup and restoration costs already exceeded $1,000.
Fox News Digital scanned Farris’ social media pages, which were cited in the court documents, and found she posted to Facebook Friday morning in a video.
“It’s me. I am going to turn myself in … I’m outside district federal court,” she said in a Facebook live.
“I am just trying to do the right thing … I was trying to get people to listen… I tried to reach the media, I tried to fight back. I tried to ignore it,” she said in tears.
Farris claimed she lived in a paper-thin camper that she “boarded up with cardboard in the winter to feel a little bit warmer.”
Fox News Digital reached out to U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia for comment.
“Vandalizing our World War II Memorial is a despicable attack on a sacred monument honoring the Americans who fought and died for our freedom. Those Americans include my father and grandfather. This morning, we are filing two felony charges, Depredation Against Property of the United States and Destruction of Veterans’ Memorials, in Federal District Court against Melissa L. Farris, offenses that carry penalties of up to ten years in prison. She is now in custody,” United States Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro announced earlier Friday morning.

Removing the headstones of Confederate soldiers who died as prisoners was done by government in Wisconsin a few years ago.
Depends on which victors rewrite the history. Forgiveness and redemption are not in the Left’s lexicon. Removing Confederate flags from sale at Gettysburg is one thing, but this reads more like removing humanity from the dead prisoners than cheering the Union by purging dark moments. I’d reckon the Left would cheer the atrocities by the North rather than cover up.

It may not have been specifically targeted. She may have chosen a memorial or other public place at random.
Yeah, she could have vandalized a fire hydrant…fact is, she chose the WWII Memorial. Who knows her reason? She did it. End of story.

The answer is that it must first be established that she did carefully select her target. Perhaps she didn’t.
It’s the exact same thing that we saw with the Pulse nightclub attack. All the hand-wringing and public pronouncements after that attack were premised on the terrorist having carefully chosen his target. Then much later it emerged that he chose it at random, and therefore all of that public speculation and blame-casting was wrong.

Like this justifies her actions. The solders in WWII at the battle of the bulge, didn’t enjoy such a luxury as a paper thin camper. Just hunkered down in a foxhole with the clothes they wore. This mentally ill protester has no idea of the scarifies, the defenders of this country, in all wars, have made. Throw her in jail and throw the key away.
