Suspected Iranian Drone Hits U.S.-Owned Gas Tanker in Egypt
“Iranian state television had identified (Egyptian port of) Damietta as a possible target.”
Just days after Iranian state media threatened the Egyptian port of Damietta, a drone struck a U.S.-owned gas storage tanker in the seaport.
The blaze also engulfed a nearby Greek tanker. “The drone reportedly hit a US-owned floating storage and regasification vessel, Energos Winter, sparking a blaze that spread to a Greek-owned LNG tanker, GasLog Salem,” BBC reported Wednesday. The broadcaster observed that “Iranian forces and Iranian-backed armed groups have carried out similar attacks on tankers in the Gulf and Red Sea as well as energy infrastructure in several Arab states.”

The Egyptian government confirmed a drone attack on its territory. “A drone caused the fire that engulfed two gas vessels at Egypt’s Mediterranean port of Damietta, the Egyptian cabinet said on Thursday, confirming that the blaze which erupted a day earlier was the result of an attack rather than an accident,” Reuters reported.
The Mediterranean port of Damietta, located 43 miles west of the Suez Canal entrance, is a major Egyptian deep-water seaport. Saudi Arabia has been rerouting its gas and oil exports to the Suez Canal as Iran and its terrorist proxies disrupt shipping in the Hormuz and Bab el-Mandeb straits. Reuters added that the Suez Canal “has become the last safe evacuation route for Saudi oil to global markets.”

Ahead of the drone strike, Iranian regime media had been threatening to hit the Egyptian port. Noting Tehran’s involvement, Euronews TV channel reported that “Iranian state television had identified Damietta as a possible target.”
“The map shown on state-run TV described Damietta as “a gateway for gas exports to Europe,” the French broadcaster added.
When asked about the Iranian hand in the attack, President Donald Trump didn’t directly respond, but told reporters that the U.S. was “going to be hitting them very hard because it’s our turn to hit them.”

After Iran on Tuesday fired several ballistic missiles at a U.S. base in Jordan, the American military responded with overwhelming force. According to Central Command (CENTCOM), the U.S. on Wednesday night carried out “a heavy wave of strikes against Iran” in response to a sneak attack on American military forces.
The U.S. forces struck “dozens of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) targets in Iran, including military command centers, missile and drone facilities, coastal surveillance and defense sites, and maritime capabilities. The strikes aimed to further diminish threats posed by Iran and its proxies to American forces, commercial shipping, and neighboring Gulf countries,” CENTCOM added.

With Wednesday’s drone attack, Iran is waging a multipronged war against the U.S. and its allies in the region. While Iran attacks oil shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, Yemen-based Houthis have declared a blockade of the Red Sea strait of Bab el-Mandeb. With both waterways under attack, Iran and its terrorist proxies are trying to disrupt shipping in the Suez Canal, the only remaining outlet for oil and gas exports in the region.

Whatever. Pretty sure we’ll just throw a couple of missiles into Iran and then Trump will declare another worthless “pause” in the military response hoping that the Iranian regime will re-engage the US in negotiations. And round and round the Merry-go-round spins with nothing accomplished as Trump seeks a way out of the debacle with Iran of his own making. Wonder if Trump will ever realize the futility of negotiating with the Iranian regime and take the actions necessary to permanently eliminate Iran as a threat to the US and the Western World. Not hopeful that will ever happen but time will tell.

We still have a few more carrier battle groups who haven’t been engaged yet, but this debacle demonstrates how few actual weapons we have if we get involved in a real war against China, and our inability to replace them on a timely basis. Same situation as 155 ammo that we’ve been sending to Ukraine. Too many decades of shorting the military is catching up with us.

The last pause was requested by the military. They had run out of targets and needed to find more.
We have decimated their military infrastructure. They would require decades to recover and rearm under the best of circumstances, and their future under their present psychotic leadership is not the best of circumstances. Their nuclear ambitions have been rendered dust. A great accomplishment even if nothing else happens. Now we could adopt the deluded fantasies of the NY Times and believe that Iran is winning or has won. Let’s not do that.
I’m hopeful because as it drags closer to midterms, the realization that the die is cast will hopefully free him to remove the political aspect from the calculation.

We keep using very expensive (and irreplaceable in any real time) weapons to defend against very cheap drones and missiles, and then pausing to give them a chance to obtain more. Meanwhile our biggest enemy continues to wait, watch and learn. There’s only one ending to this play and it ain’t “victory”.
Once the CCP believes that the United States has exhausted it’s military stockpiles on Iran and the Middle East they’ll send troops across the Taiwan Channel and into Taiwan and there’ll be nothing we will be able to do about it.
Invading taiwan wont be easy. especially as China doesn’t really have a sealift capability and has no experience doing it. Same with air dropping troops. no experience. Taiwan is also difficult geographically and taiwan itself isn’t a paper tiger.

The Iranian Islamofascist/terrorist regime’s resilience and unrepentant belligerence demonstrate that a Sherman-style, “scorched earth” campaign is the only way to win this conflict. No targets can be considered off-limits.
Hamas, the IRGC, and the Houthi’s cannot be stopped by bombing.
They welcome Civilian deaths and economic destruction.
It is part of their end of the world beliefs about the return of the Mahdi.
The Israelis killed all the leaders, most of the foot soldiers and flattened every building in Gaza.
With no effect on Hamas ability to govern or start a future war.
