Graham Platner: ‘We are Suspending Campaign Operations’
“I intend to file my paperwork to withdraw.”
Graham Platner released an 11-minute video announcing he has suspended his Senate campaign… with a catch.
“We are suspending campaign operations,” said Platner. “I want to make clear, though: I intend to file my paperwork to withdraw.”
Platner has until July 13 to officially withdraw. Suspending your campaign doesn’t mean you’ve dropped out.

Oh, it’s not his fault, you guys:
This is incredibly difficult, because I know that some will think it’s an admission of guilt, and it most certainly is not. We’re not doing it because of the allegations. We’re doing it because of the structures that are being taken away from us by those in power, and I also feel an immense amount of responsibility to everyone who has worked so hard to get us to where we are.
How did we get here? Let’s review Platner’s past, which the Democrats brushed aside.
If you’re a Republican woman, the Democrats don’t care if a man assaults you. But if you’re a Democratic woman, they will lose their minds.
The Democrats also don’t care if you had a Nazi tattoo, post disgusting online comments against women and soldiers, or lie about your past.
After Politico published Jenny Racicot’s story, the Democrats who stood by Platner even after all the scandals decided that assaulting a Democratic woman was too much.
They pulled their endorsements. Some even deleted their past posts praising Platner, excusing his actions.
Platner denied all the allegations again. He did not address the women, but blamed “corporate media.”
“I learned about this through press inquiries with no time to truly respond, no time for investigations before a corporate media system and the political establishment got to act as judge, jury, and executioner,” he complained.
Platner moaned about the party establishment, insisting they saw him as a threat and trying to get rid of him before the Politico story.
However, it sounds like Platner isn’t 100% finished. It sounds like he needs to approve of the person taking his place:
I’m not trying to dictate to anyone who it should be or how we get there, but I will say this: it needs to be open, transparent, and democratic. It needs to be reflecting the will and the values of the people that built this movement: the people that showed up on June 9.
People in DC need to stay in DC. Decisions should not be made in back rooms by people in places of political power. Party apparatchiks are not the ones to make these decisions. These decisions need to be made in the open by the people of this state, the people who got us here. This is exactly the kind of political system that everyone voted against on June 9, and for that reason we need to be assured that it is going to be open and democratic as we move forward. Amy and I struggled about getting into this last summer, right around this time of year. We sat down and we looked at each other, and we said, if we believe in the kind of politics we think that we do, we have to do this over the past couple days, really. Yesterday and today we have had to have that exact same conversation. We believe that for the movement to continue it can’t be made, and for that reason we are suspending campaign operations. This is incredibly difficult, because I know that some will think it’s an admission of guilt, and it most certainly is not. We’re not doing it because of the allegations, we’re doing it because of the structures that are being taken away from us by those in power, and I also feel an immense amount of responsibility to everyone who has worked so hard to get us to where we are. We went toe to toe with one of the most entrenched political systems in the history of the world, and we won.
We beat them on June 9 in overwhelming numbers. We did it the right way. We built a campaign, we engaged in electoral politics, we motivated people, we banded together, we did it the way that we were told we are supposed to make change. And we won. And now they are not going to let us have it, not if it’s me, and so we’re suspending campaign operations.
I want to make clear, though, I intend to file my paperwork to withdraw.
The process needs to assure that what comes next is reflective of the Mainers, who on June 9 turned out and showed that they are desperate for a different kind of politics. It needs to be driven not from back rooms, but by the will of the people, and the decisions that come next must come from that all. We were asking for healthcare, to end the genocide, to use our taxpayer dollars at home to uplift our communities instead of waging war overseas. We were asking for a fair system. We were asking for an end to the corruption, the end to the money in politics. We were asking for real democracy, and we did it the right way, and we won.
But now the ball is in the court of the Democratic establishment. My name might be on the ballot right now, but that ballot line belongs to the people of Maine. And on November 3, it needs to belong to the people of Maine, and the next Democratic senator for Maine needs to belong to the people of Maine.
Guys, I’ll believe it when I see it.

Let me be the first to offer my condolences.
And hopefully the last…..
Dude is a dirt bag and all this has been known about him for months. If people don’t see this as a political hit job by the Dem establishment to force him out because his poll numbers are dropping so they can install someone else without the will of the voters getting in the way people are not paying attention. I predict these women and their allegations will be another Herman Caine situation. The women will disappear never to be heard from again. Dems should never have chosen this clown and backed him in the first place but they did and the people of Maine voted for him to represent them. Who the hell are the national Dems and establishment elites to force him out of the race?
John Belushi in the Blues Brothers
Jake: It’s good to see you, sweetheart.
Mystery Woman: You contemptible pig! I remained celibate for you. I stood at the back of a cathedral, waiting, in celibacy, for you, with three hundred friends and relatives in attendance. My uncle hired the best Romanian caterers in the state. To obtain the seven limousines for the wedding party, my father used up his last favor with Mad Pete Trullo. So for me, for my mother, my grandmother, my father, my uncle, and for the common good, I must now kill you, and your brother.
[Jake falls to his knees]
Jake: Oh, please, don’t kill us! Please, please don’t kill us! You know I love you baby. I wouldn’t leave ya. It wasn’t my fault!
Mystery Woman: You miserable slug! You think you can talk your way out of this? You betrayed me.
Jake: No I didn’t. Honest! I ran outta gas. I had a flat tire. I didn’t have enough money for cab fare. My tux didn’t come back from the cleaners. An old friend came in from outta town. Someone stole my car. There was an earthquake, a terrible flood, locusts!
It wasn’t my fault! I swear to God!
[Elwood covers his head in anticipation of more gunfire, Jake removes his sunglasses to make a wordless appeal, and the Mystery Woman visibly softens]
Mystery Woman: Oh, Jake. Jake, honey.
[Jake embraces the Mystery Woman and they kiss]
Jake: [to Elwood] Let’s go.
[He drops the Mystery Woman and walks off]
Elwood: [to the Mystery Woman as he steps past her] Take it easy.
Mystery woman was Carrie Fisher.
Watching this guy play victim is laughable. Pathetic, too. It will be interesting who falls for the schtick. Democrats are completely off the rails.
Der OysterFuhrer should follow the example of his Fuhrer when the Russians were on his doorstep.
Oh, bugger all but six and save them for pallbearers. I hoped that he would stay in so the seat would still be held by someone who sometimes does not vote with the Democrats. Now what am I going to do with all this popcorn and butter?
Subotai Bahadur
Don’t toss that popcorn yet. At least hang onto it until we see who the replacement is. How is it that they will find someone better suited, both electable and honorable, who was not amongst the candidates back when the primary was ramping up? The narrative on that should be entertaining.
.
‘O Voters,’ said the Oysterman,
‘You’ve had a pleasant run!
Shall we be trotting home again?’
But answer came there none—
And that was scarcely odd, because
They’d suckered every one.
Oh me, oh my. How will I live now?
Seeing I am too lazy to work
and too proud to beg.
Well, Oysterman, Golly Gee
Go Fund Me, Go Fund Me, Go Fund Me
The time has come,’ the DNC said,
To talk of many things:
Of rape— tattoos — and oyster farms —
Of communists— and kings —
And why the polls are boiling hot —
And for whom the toll-bell rings.
Applause to all three of you, You probably can get Roger Waters to put your lyrics to music.
Well I’m glad I didn’t place a bet. I was halfway convinced this goon was gonna ride it out to stick it to the Maine and National d/prog Party. Should be a hoot to see who is eventually selected as his stand in and the sharp elbows thrown in the process. Almost as much fun as watching all the folks who endorsed this goon rush to scrape off their support and attempt to explain it away. ‘Blue, no matter who’ doesn’t seem to be selling as well as they hoped.
“I was halfway convinced this goon was gonna ride it out to stick it to the Maine and National d/prog Party.”
Not me. I know how efficiently the DNC can throw horses’ heads into the beds of their embarrassments. We just had another example of that with Swalwell. “Drop out, or we’ll release more and more dirt until we get to the crimes, if you make us. Your choice.”
I thought they finally found the dead boy in his bed.
Gellego doesn’t count.
Sure, the d/prog are ruthlessly vindictive, no disagreement. Yet the d/prog Elders were circling the wagons around this goon even after among other things:
1. the Nazi SS totenkopf tattoo dust up,
2. Porta potty gate
3. commenting that a Soldier deserved to die
4. The unraveling of his ‘blue collar’ cosplay lies
5. A handful of sexual abuse claims
I thought his level of butthurt at finally getting dropped like a hot potato might lead him to dig in his heels and attempt to brazen it out.
The Dems would all line up behind (censored) himself if he would promise to vote the Dem party line in office. In this case, Platner was dragging down other Dem candidates across the nation, so he had to go.
My bet is about 2-3 months from now, or after the election, Platner gets a comfy million a year ‘job’ with a Leftist think tank, just sufficiently removed enough from the DNC that it can’t be called a bribe. Although it is.
Gavin is drawing up plans for an “oyster czar,” while Kamala is organizing a “kitchen cabinet.”
Yeah, the much discussed payout/sinecure idea as the ‘cost’ for his withdrawal makes the most sense.
On the other hand he only stated he ‘intends to file paperwork’ and he hasn’t yet done so. Deadline is Monday 5:00 PM and no matter how much the ‘ d/prog powers that be’ demand his withdrawal they gotta get his cooperation ….which they don’t yet have.
One might be forgiven for wondering if they haven’t tried to lowball an offer to him and whether what he may view as lack of good faith from the ‘d/prog powers that be’ will harden his stance/increase the price to a point or with such non monetary conditions like his input on how the replacement is chosen and his input re who’s on the short list that he ultimately stays in.
The nazi/communist/”Democratic Socialist/Islamofascist/Muslim supremacist Dhimmi-crats are evil, greasy and stupid subversives, narcissists, fifth columnists and rank hypocrites.
The communist-nazi, Platner only became persona non grata when his putrid personal baggage and wretched character reached critical mass, threatening his electoral prospects — the Dhimmi-crat reprobates only give a damn about political power..
Steven King, author and nazi lover, will be so disappointed. So will the DSA, the squad, Bernie Blowhard, and all the good little Nazis in Maine. I suspect the oysters also will be unhappy. The OysterFuhrer will be returning to stock his mother’s restaurant.
If he disappears on a weeklong bender he will remain on ballot. Stay tuned.
Are they going to have to reprint the ballots where the box next to his name has already been checked?
They will find another Kamala
There is in fact another socialist in the wings but he too is supposed to have problems.
here comes the switch–surely there’s anoher serial abuser / drunkard / grifter / closet communist among the demoncrats in maine
I have no doubt they’re spoiled for choice.
How about a Platner/Gillum ticket for president? They could get all the hookers, drugs and nazi tatoos they want while blaming everyone else for their digusting depravity.
Bonus points for also nominating a black druggie.
I don’t get it. A neo-nazi with a history of sexual misconduct and drinking? Frankly overqualified for the democrat nomination.
You’re a wuss, Graham! You held all the cards and just gave up like a whiny little girl.
…which probably excited you.
But not in a gay way.
In a way that would show everybody that he was a dominant whiny little girl.
you’re correct! I’m beginning to wonder if Hillary made him an offer that he couldn’t refuse?
pretty sure this was always the goal. jam a guy through the primary that you could get rid of after all that pesky voting, then install the person you actually wanted to run.
I’d also add that D’s win in non-deep-blue areas by playing the ’empty-suit’ game (this is Obama) .. the idea is to bring in someone nobody knows anything about and try to keep anyone from finding out anything about him until he’s elected.
the time between primary and election is long enough to learn who a candidate is, so just replace the candidate late enough in the process that they can float an empty-suit to victory
And with that, we won’t have the Oyster Fuhrer to kick around anymore…
Oyster Fuhrer says
1. The world is my oyster, buddy.
2. Well, at least Maine is my oyster
3. Okay, a small oyster farmer then.
4. Crap! Oysters aren’t what they’re cracked up to be
5. To heck with oysters.
He is going to switch to crabs now.
What does his popularity in Maine say about the people of Maine?
That is also the question I ask every election about the people of California, Illinois, Massachusetts, New York, Delaware, Rhode Island, Vermont, Connecticut, New Jersey, Minnesota, and a few more, now including Virginia where I lived for 65 years. How can so many be deluded by so few? That is the ultimate question.
They liked that he was an “outsider.” That’s the new flavor of the far left wing of the Democrat Party. The “outsider” will overwhelm the Establishment and it matters not whether s/he is a rapist, criminal, blatant communist, barista, pole dancer, whatever. Didn’t Platner say he was going to blow up the system or something like that?
40 years of modern public education.
He did Nazi that coming!
It was a plane wreck
Didn’t realize until too late
Sum Ting Wong
Wi Tu Lo
Bang Ding Ow
He could still unsuspend his campaign if the OCDs piss him off in the next few days.
Finally figured out why he’s so dumb looking: Eyes too far apart. Like a flounder. Fetal Alcohol Syndrome.
Example of Form Following Function. He’s a dumb ass so that’s what he looks like. What’s sad is that the marines accepted him.
It truly is a Blue Oyster Cult!
Down goes the S.S. Platner
