Former Democrat FL Governor Candidate Andrew Gillum Faces Drug Charges After Alabama Arrest
He faces charges of possession of dangerous drugs, drug paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana.
Former Florida Democratic gubernatorial candidate and Tallahassee mayor Andrew Gillum found himself in trouble again!
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis barely defeated Gillum in 2018, 49.6% to 49.2%.
Alabama police arrested Gillum last week. He faces charges of possession of dangerous drugs, drug paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana.
We do not have the police report.
Gillum spent less than 12 hours in jail, but faces prison if convicted.
Possession of dangerous drugs is a felony. If Gillum pleads guilty, he could receive up to five years in prison and a $7,500 fine.
Marijuana possession and drug paraphernalia are misdemeanors. Gillum could spend up to a year in prison and face a $6,000 fine for both.
Gillum has a drug history.
In March 2020, police found Gillum in a hotel room with a man who suffered from a possible drug overdose.
Police believe a bag they found at the scene contained crystal meth. Reports indicate the man, Travis Dyson, is a gay escort.
Dyson’s Rent Men profile states he works as a “pornstar performer.” His social media accounts show “sexual videos of himself with a muscular man he identified as his boyfriend.”
The police did not arrest Gillum or Dyson or file any charges.
Gillum denied taking any drugs, but admitted he drank too much. He decided to enter rehab for alcohol abuse.
In 2022, Gillum faced fraud charges, including misuse of campaign funds for personal purposes and wire fraud.
Federal prosecutors dropped the charges in 2023 after a jury could not reach a consensus.
“Still, the Florida Commission of Ethics found probable cause that Gillum violated ethics laws by accepting gifts from undercover FBI agents fronting as developers,” reported Florida Politics. “He agreed to pay a $5,000 fine in exchange for dropping four out of five charges stemming from trips to Costa Rica and New York, as well as receiving tickets to the Broadway show ‘Hamilton.’”

Located across the Bay from Mobile near the Gulf coast in Baldwin County which voted almost 80% for Trump. Most Counties in Bama tend to be unflinchingly harsh in sentencing criminals.
He should’ve attended the Ayatollah’s funeral with the other Libs. He’d have another feather in his hat and wouldn’t be in hot water in Alabama.
Some black communities in the South have “old timey” ideas that include religion, morals and the need for appropriate, respectable behavior (from black people especially). They don’t cotton to certain behaviors. Should Gillum face a jury in a community of such persons, it would not bode well for him.
Do you mean that it is now obvious that he was toxic at the time? Or that it was obvious at the time that he was toxic? Because as I recall that race, it wasn’t obvious at the time. To the best of my recollection his first public brush with the law came after his narrow defeat.
I assume he wasn’t charged the first time because the DA couldn’t prove the drugs were his. They were found in the room, not in his possession, so he could have claimed he knew nothing about them.

Anyone can be “suspected”. Trump is suspected of fraud. The Dems yammer all the time about their suspicions. But they haven’t got any proof.

He wasn’t caught snorting it. He wasn’t even caught with it in his possession. He was caught in the room with the hooker and the drugs, but there was no proof the drugs were his, or that he’d used them.
Sounds somewhat like Hunter Biden. I guess if Joe Biden had a black gay son it would be like Gillum.
