Fearing Deportations, LA County Health Department Lets Food Vendors Run Wild
Government officials have no problem subjecting American citizens to burdensome regulations. But when it might affect illegal immigrants, then they get concerned.
The Los Angeles County Health Department is looking the other way when it comes to illicit food vendors over fears that contact with the legal system could lead to the deportation of illegal aliens.
Meanwhile, legitimate vendors and restaurants say they are subjected to onerous regulations as a result of following the law.
Breitbart reported:
The health department suspended enforcement despite nearly 3,000 food poisoning complaints reported to the county in 2025, with health officials suspecting many more went unreported. If someone gets seriously ill from unlicensed street food, undocumented operators are typically uninsured and can easily disappear before being held accountable.
Local operators complain that they are being treated worse than illegal food vendors.
“I follow the rules — inspections, health standards, permitted areas,” Anthony Devgenio, owner of Big Dix Hot Dogs, told the California Post. “Meanwhile, unlicensed vendors break the rules openly.”

This is nothing new. Schools have much the same policy for illegal alien students, and it’s been in place for decades.

Oh dear, why would LA County open itself up to clear violations of Civil Rights based on national origin? Not to mention it would involve not just junior code enforcement officers but a directive from their Seniors. Be a shame if the subpoena for their communications revealed discussions with various Politicians and NGOs in a coordinated effort to intentionally treat honest, law abiding Citizens more harshly than lawbreaking aliens.

Or in the major walking area in the la garment district, I could not believe how crowded it was. Santini alley. It felt so third world. Fire department has been told to ignore. The garment district has so many empty store fronts and lots of graffiti, and next to the freeway a bunch of non operational rv’s.
I just went to a local night market in La county that a developer has started. It has food vendors and games. I believe it was the 2nd one. Similar to the one at the Arcadia mall.
Before the 2nd event, I noticed digging from a building to an areas that had a bunch of sinks for vendor use. My guess is the county health department forced the owners to add a sewer line and may be running water. Probably $25,000 worth of work.
And a block away, on either side, there are taco sidewalk tents nightly,
A friend of a friend wanted to sell in a swap meet food. She was told she needed a bunch of permits and licenses.

Just like during COVID when you and I couldn’t go to church. But blm could have parades and whatever else they wanted.
This is weapons grade baloneium. They have always ignored the Hispanic street vendors. Now instead of lazy they look noble.
Lets look at it from the bright side. This is an example of what it takes the bureaucracy to relax their regulations. The report mentioned food poisoning cases but did not say anything about if this was a significant rise or not. The bureaucracy certainly wants us to think that their licensing and certification is effect but is it? As long as people don’t die, those who received tainted food from some cart will likely go to a different cart. The word will get around and either the faulty vendor will mend his ways or he will go out of business. All this w/o the bureaucracy. While I’m not at all promoting illegal aliens, it is good to see capitalism at work.

There’s literally videos of Commiefornia health inspectors simply walking past disgusting street taco carts to issue violations to restaurants they are camped in front of.
The same thing just happened in the City of San Diego. The city just gave up regulating street food vendors. These mostly illegal aliens are now clogging downtown streets. The Health Department is powerless, yet, they still regulate LICENSED restaurants and close them regularly when they don’t meet health standards. CRAZY!

He has a different problem. It’s tough to harass storefront OR mobile food vendors once nobody has actual food to sell.
