Hamawy’s Primary Victory in NJ-12: ‘There is No GOP Equivalent to This, Not Even Close’

Hamawy’s Primary Victory in NJ-12: ‘There is No GOP Equivalent to This, Not Even Close’

It is a reflection of a broader cultural and political amnesia that would have been unthinkable in the years after September 11.

An hour and a half after the polls closed on Tuesday night, the Associated Press called the Democratic primary in New Jersey’s 12th Congressional District for Dr. Adam Hamawy. He is running for the House seat currently occupied by Democrat Bonnie Watson Coleman, who is retiring.

The troubling implications of Hamawy’s victory cannot be overstated. Yes, he’s extremely progressive. His most enthusiastic supporters include the far-left political streamer Hasan Piker, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), and Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN).

But concerns about his fitness for public office go far beyond his political ideology.

In the early 1990s, Hamawy literally volunteered for an Al-Qaeda-linked group. More alarming still, he was a loyal follower of Omar Abdel-Rahman, the terrorist cleric known as the “Blind Sheikh,” who inspired the 1993 World Trade Center bombing.

Not only was Hamawy a loyal follower of Abdel-Rahman, he acted as his interpreter. According to Fox News host Will Cain, the pair once took a cross-country road trip to Detroit together.

Hamawy’s support continued even after Abdel-Rahman was named as a suspect in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, which left six people dead.

Hamawy appeared as a witness for the defense during Abdel-Rahman’s 1995 trial. Cain reported that during his testimony, he acknowledged that Abdel-Rahman viewed Israel and the United States as “enemies of Islam” and encouraged jihad against them.

According to the trial transcript, several months after the bombing, Hamawy told him, “If you need anything, you can just give me a call.”

Abdel-Rahman was convicted and died in prison in 2017.

[In a recent post about Hamawy’s growing strength in the polls, I provided more detail about his testimony.]

Chuck Ross, an investigative reporter for The Washington Free Beacon, wasn’t exaggerating when he remarked in an X post, “There is no GOP equivalent to this, not even close.”

Democrats point to Hamawy’s service as a combat medic in Iraq as though it somehow exonerates him from his ties to a terrorist-linked organization and a convicted terrorist a decade earlier. It doesn’t.

His actions are his actions. While military service is commendable, it doesn’t exempt someone from scrutiny over past associations. If an individual has a documented history of involvement with terrorists or terrorist-affiliated groups, they should not be entrusted with public office in the U.S.

For many Americans, and particularly for Democrats, the lessons of September 11 seem to have faded with time. In New York City — the site of the deadliest terrorist attack in American history — voters actually elected a Muslim mayor who also happens to be a democratic socialist.

Call me an Islamophobe, but when groups openly advocate for the restoration of a global caliphate and unambiguously declare their hatred for the West — as most Islamist terrorist groups do — I don’t think it’s unreasonable to take them at their word.

The Muslim Brotherhood, a transnational Islamist movement dedicated to implementing Islamic law (sharia) in government and society, has long embraced the aspiration of reestablishing a global Islamic caliphate.

In 2014, after conquering vast stretches of Iraq and Syria, ISIS formally declared the establishment of a caliphate and renamed itself the “Islamic State.” For a brief moment, the group’s ambitions appeared — at least to them — to be within reach. As The New York Times observed at the time, “The jihadist insurgent group ISIS, or as it now prefers to be called, the Islamic State, appears well on the road to achieving its stated goal: the restoration of the caliphate.”

That experiment ultimately ended in military defeat. Yet the idea itself did not disappear.

NPR noted:

Re-creating a caliphate has been a goal of fundamentalist Sunni groups for decades, including al-Qaeda. From their perspective, the caliphates represented a golden age of Islam, when Muslims had vast political and economic power and were at the cutting edge in many arts and sciences. Re-creating the caliphate is the path to restoring that lost glory, in their view.

In fact, al-Qaeda has long been committed to removing Western influence from the Middle East and, in my view, from every corner of the globe where it could realistically do so. Its decision to target the World Trade Center, which they viewed as a symbol of American economic power and capitalism, was a stark reminder that its ambitions extend far beyond the Middle East.

Consider that few Muslims who settle in the U.S. and Europe show much interest in assimilating into their host societies. Instead, most choose to maintain their distinct cultural and religious identities.

Does that somehow escape the Democrats?

Whether Hamawy ultimately wins the general election is almost beside the point. [He likely will.] The more important question is how a man who volunteered for an al-Qaeda-linked organization, maintained a close relationship with the Blind Sheikh, testified on his behalf, and continues to defend him to this day, became a viable candidate in a major-party primary.

The answer is uncomfortable but increasingly difficult to ignore: too many Americans have forgotten the threat posed by Islamist extremism and too many Democrats have convinced themselves that concerns about it are either outdated or politically inconvenient. Hamawy’s victory is not merely the story of one congressional race. It is a reflection of a broader cultural and political amnesia that would have been unthinkable in the years after September 11.

If someone tells me he wants me either dead or converted, I’ll take him seriously.
.

He is fit enough to be a Democrat as the Democratic party that was is now dead and gone. The party today is rapidly becoming IslamoSocialist and any hold overs had better get on board. The Republicans? Well they are Republicans.

The democrat party began to die when McGovern became the nominee and Jackson and Sharpton were taken seriously. At that point the AWFULs of that time were not only flocking to that party but assuming leadership roles and driving it towards implementation of identity politics.

I think it more started with LBJ. A more cynical, nasty man has never served as the president. He did more damage than Wilson or Roosevelt.

You know you’re right. The 1968 democratic convention really began the downfall of the democratic party. The democratic response to Johnson and Humphrey begat McGovern in 72 after RFK was assassinated.

LBJ was cynical and nasty. However I believe his great society was cooked up by JFK and his crew and adopted by LBJ. This is how I always saw it. Someone correct me if I’m wrong here.

“Amnesia” is correct, but, it would be fair to ask if the communist/Islamofascist/Muslim supremacist Dhimmi-crats ever really gave a damn about American victims of Muslim terrorism, at home or abroad, or allied victims of Muslim terrorism.

The vile, stupid and evil Dhimmi-crats have a long and repugnant track record of blaming the victims of Muslims’ “holy war” terrorism for having committed alleged sins or slights against Muslims (e.g., American troop presence in the middle east; allegedly insufficient American deference and obsequious dhimmitude paid to Muslims; Israeli Jews’ alleged “settler-colonialism,” “genocide” and “apartheid”) and thus brought allegedly justified and laudable Muslim “resistance” upon themselves..

25 and 33 years have passed since the two Muslim terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, and on the U.S., and now the vile, stupid and evil communist/Islamofascist/Muslim supremacist Dhimmi-crats are gleefully embracing and welcoming Jew-hating, Christian-hating, terrorism supporting, subversive and wretched Islamofascists and Muslim supremacists into their party tent.

The Dhimmi-crat Party is a wicked party of Satan. Vote and be guided, accordingly, going forward.

Also, note that all of these myriad, Islamofascist/Muslim supremacist Dhimmi-crat candidates who are running for political office and who have already won political office, come from privileged backgrounds. Like the 9/11 Muslim terrorists, they’re well-educated and financially comfortable or well-off, thus exposing as total bunk the notion that Muslim terrorists and terrorism supporters who provide political, rhetorical and theological support to Muslim terrorism, are allegedly motivated by poverty, deprivation, etc.

The intrinsic supremacism, totalitarianism, misogyny belligerence towards and hatred of non-Muslims that are intrinsic to and baked into the Islamic ideology, are the problem, here; nothing else.

“The troubling implications of Hamawy’s victory cannot be overstated.“

How would he any worse than the braying 🫏 in office today?

Would he be worse than blue haired Rep. DeLauro?

Would he be worse than AOC?

What we rightly condemn about this miscreant is standard fare in the Democrat Party today. They are the enemies of liberty, the very domestic enemies referred to in the founding documents.

I suggest we recognize that he would be a single voice amongst 435. A bad one, one that we’d rather not have, certainly.

Don’t get me wrong, I personally wouldn’t support allowing Muslims to be janitors on Capitol Hill (no offense to those hard working folks) never mind office holders.

guyjones in reply to Peter Moss. | June 4, 2026 at 8:40 am

This puke wouldn’t be a single voice in Congress, though; that’s the problem — take a look at Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib, for starters. Secondly, he would have myriad non-Muslim, Dhimmi-crat allies in Congress — Raphael Warnock, Comrade Sanders, Occasional-Cortex, etc.

Then take a gander outside Congress — Jew-hating and Christian-hating Islamofascist/Muslim supremacist subversives are running for and winning municipal and state political offices, all across the country.

The pattern is real and is hugely concerning.

Wow. Nothing says “desperate” like adding Nazis and Hamasholes to your regular roster of freaks, grifters, racists and the ignorant.

And not a single one of those groups says “Pro-Amrica.”

    Not one.

Whitewall in reply to Dimsdale. | June 4, 2026 at 8:44 am

Pro- America no longer has a place in today’s ‘Democratic’ Party.

DaveGinOly in reply to Dimsdale. | June 4, 2026 at 12:19 pm

The Dems have made it pellucidly clear they hate America. You don’t want to “fundamentally transform” something you love. These people don’t love American, they love what they believe they can make of America.

What woman would stay with a man who told her, “I love you, but before I’m satisfied with you, you must be fundamentally transformed”? That lady would be insulted to learn that there is little about her that meets with the gentleman’s approval and she would rightly question his declaration of love.

CommoChief in reply to Dimsdale. | June 4, 2026 at 8:43 am

Yep. The d/prog are running (and in blue jurisdictions electing to office) a rogues gallery of candidates even more whacko/extreme than they normally support. In Maine there’s an avowed commie with a totenkopf tattoo who, when not browsing/sexting on a website referee to as a ‘predator’s paradise’, is busy denigrating combat Veterans. NYC elected a Muslim commie. Seattle elected a sheltered, socialist simpleton, AWFL as Mayor. In TX they’re running a vegan, open border, big gov’t creepy dude less masculine than Beto. Now NJ d/prog are pushing a candidate who is, at best, terrorist adjacent in addition to being a socialist.

The barbarians are at the gates…and have been for a while.

gonzotx in reply to NavyMustang. | June 4, 2026 at 8:48 am

They are no longer at the gates

    They have been welcomed inside

DaveGinOly in reply to gonzotx. | June 4, 2026 at 12:21 pm

Then maybe the solution to the problem is that we must become the barbarians. What they build, we will throw down. What they worship, we will desecrate. What they hold dear, we will take from them. I could go on, but I think you know where this is leading.

Alej in reply to DaveGinOly. | June 5, 2026 at 12:55 pm

Yep – it’s leading to the premise of ,”All that’s necessary for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing.”

It’s not barbaric to remind oneself of the Second Amendment.

CommoChief in reply to NavyMustang. | June 4, 2026 at 8:48 am

IMO the ‘hate America’ goons have long since been inside the wire. The particular uniform of whatever cosplay outfit they put on like an ideological costume seems less important than the fact they wish the USA to fail and/or be ‘transformed’ into something other than what makes it the greatest Nation in history.

How can you be “shocked “ anymore

OBL would probably win a race today

They hate our Country, they riot against police, Homeland and murder citizens for riding a subway while white or walking down a street while Jewish

They have tried to kill President Trump 4 times we know of…

And he was right, they want us all dead, he’s just in the way… and they are trying to take care of that!

I wonder how in hell a man with his terrorist adjacent (to say the least) background was allowed to enlist and be deployed to Iraq.

he is living the american dream

if that dream is to be a pos

When the children of Israel practiced idolatry and child sacrifice, God empowered their enemies and they were conquered and taken into captivity.

A large fraction of the US population worship the idols of technology and materialism, and sexual immorality and child sacrifice in the form of abortion are widely encouraged and practiced.

Why are we surprised at what is happening?

destroycommunism | June 4, 2026 at 11:02 am

Why do pro americans CONTINUE TO CALL THEM “PROGRESSIVES”

the left either has you as one of theirs or you are ………

progress has a favorable meaning …outlook

yet the term is used constantly by so called maga /pro americans

they are EVIL

theyare communistnaziilamoists you dont have to call them that
but stop calling someone

YOU SAY IS EVIL…STOP favoring them and calling them progressives

Media is a major cause of these results. A broken record but these people will turn on you when they hit 10% Those of you who think you will be in charge will be treated just like the ones who were eliminated before you. It’s their creed. Really, is this a religion? NO – they hide behind our First Amendment as though they believe in it. But they have real trouble following the 5th through 10 commandments:

Though shalt not: murder, commit adultery, steal, bear false witness or covet. Wake up America.

This should not surprise anyone. Islamism and Marxism are flip sides of the same coin. They are natural allies. Both are after complete and total control of everything and everyone.

2smartforlibs | June 4, 2026 at 11:36 am

The left support terrorist (with your tax money) the condemn millionaires and billionaires ( while being part of that club) and have no issues voting for a true Nazi ( when they peral clutched over a Musk wave). You want this people any where near power? The rest of us don’t.

Drip drip Islamo-Marxism/Communism, one state at a time. Today NJ, tomorrow might be Michigan. Right now they’ve gotten into the tent in NY and MN. Wake up America; it is happening here.

Please, there is no “Islamophobia.” A “phobia” is an unreasoning fear of something. Where Islam is concerned, distrust, caution, and even fear are fully justified. (Nothing more is necessary to demonstrate the correctness of that statement except to listen to what Muslim leaders and their followers are saying and doing.) I call it Islamoangst.

Guess Hamas has another representative in Congress

From Brittanica, huh? Sounds like he was convicted of being an ideological ally.

“Although there was insufficient evidence to link Abdel Rahman directly to the World Trade Center bombing, in January 1996 he was convicted of preparing what prosecutors called a “war of urban terrorism” in New York City. Under a rarely used Civil War-era seditious conspiracy law, prosecutors proved that the cleric had conspired to “overthrow or put down or destroy by force the Government of the United States.” Abdel Rahman was found guilty of plotting to blow up the George Washington Bridge, the Lincoln and Holland tunnels, the United Nations building, and other Manhattan landmarks.” https://www.britannica.com/biography/Omar-Abdel-Rahman

Several prophetic voices have said there will be Martial Law in America and that most Americans will welcome it. I once thought that unthinkable, but not anymore.

I am afraid the people like this guy will be the reason why,
