Trump: US “totally obliterated every MILITARY target in Iran’s crown jewel, Kharg Island”

“I have chosen NOT to wipe out the Oil Infrastructure on the Island. However, should Iran, or anyone else, do anything to interfere with the Free and Safe Passage of Ships through the Strait of Hormuz, I will immediately reconsider this decision.”

Kharg Island is the oil shipping facility in the Persian Gulf through which Iran ships approximately 90% of its oil exports. It’s effectively Iran’s economy, without which the Mullah regime could not survive financially for long.

For years there has been speculation whether Israel would take out the oil facilities on Kharg Island in retaliation for Iranian ballistic missile attacks, but Israel held off out of fear of world reaction to disrupting so much of the world’s oil supplies. But Israel could have done it at any time.

With Iran threatening to and partially shutting the Strait of Hormuz, Trump acted by taking out the Iranian military facilities on the island, leaving it defenseless should Trump decide to seize it to gain total control over Iran’s economy.

Trump announced on Truth Social:

Moments ago, at my direction, the United States Central Command executed one of the most powerful bombing raids in the History of the Middle East, and totally obliterated every MILITARY target in Iran’s crown jewel, Kharg Island. Our Weapons are the most powerful and sophisticated that the World has ever known but, for reasons of decency, I have chosen NOT to wipe out the Oil Infrastructure on the Island. However, should Iran, or anyone else, do anything to interfere with the Free and Safe Passage of Ships through the Strait of Hormuz, I will immediately reconsider this decision. During my First Term, and currently, I rebuilt our Military into the Most Lethal, Powerful, and Effective Force, by far, anywhere in the World. Iran has NO ability to defend anything that we want to attack — There is nothing they can do about it! Iran will NEVER have a nuclear weapon, nor will it have the ability to threaten the United States of America, the Middle East or, for that matter, the World! Iran’s Military, and all others involved with this Terrorist Regime, would be wise to lay down their arms, and save what’s left of their country, which isn’t much! Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DONALD J. TRUMP

The NY Times reports:

The strikes on Kharg Island targeted all of the military infrastructure on the island, a military official said. U.S. Air Force bombers struck missile storage sites, as well as sites that housed Iranian mines, the official said. He said the United States did not target the economic infrastructure on the island.

A senior official from Iran’s Oil Ministry said the attacks on the island were enormous and destructive, and employees of the oil refineries reported nearly two hours of nonstop explosions and airstrikes that shook the island like an earthquake.

The senior official, who asked not to be named because of he was discussing sensitive issues, said that an attack on Kharg Island’s oil and gas infrastructure would severely and immediately halt a major part of Iran’s oil exports with severe economic and infrastructure consequences.

I’m afraid the day we will need to remove nuclear capability from GB , and probably France, is very near

Every attack on a commercial vessel should get an equal reprisal on an empty Iranian tanker. I think it will take just one for them to get the idea.

Iranian payday is March 23rd, and the bank was hit a few days ago. No more paydays.

Don’t start nothing, won’t be nothing. Iran has always had a choice. If they choose poorly again, they might even lose China.

Just as a side note, Trump did an interview with Fox and it was said not by Trump, that it was well known that Vance not only argued against Venezuela, he also argued against Iran

Hmm, been wondering where he has been.
I have a feeling Trump is loving Rubio a whole lot more

And it scares me about Vance… you know he’s right with Tucker and hasn’t come out about his anti Israel and literally anti Trump, anti American rhetoric

Out of which orifice did you pull this information?

gonzotx in reply to healthguyfsu. | March 13, 2026 at 11:21 pm

I listened to Brian Kilmeade on Fox Radio.for a few minutes. He was interviewing Trump, I wasn’t sure if he said that statement to Trump or not but he said it as the interview cut away.
I had a Drs appointment so didn’t get to listen more

I never listen to him, don’t particularly like him. But my radio was on.

But I have a question for you?

What orifice are you using right now? Your ANUS?

Here are some public statements from VP Vance:

Sept ’25 re taking out Venezuela drug boats:
‘Killing cartel members who poison our fellow citizens is the highest and nest use of our military’
    ‘I don’t give a s#!t if you call it a ‘war crime’.

Jan ’26 after capture of Maduro
‘Are we just supposed to allow a communist to.steal our stuff (the nationalized oil infrastructure of US companies) in our hemisphere and do nothing about it? Great Powers don’t act like that. The United States, thanks to President Trump’s leadership is a Great Power again. Everyone should take note.’

March ’26 on Jessie Waters Fox re Iran operations
‘There’s just no way President Trump is gonna allow this Country to get into a multiyear conflict with no clear end in sight and no clear objective. What’s different about Trump and frankly different about both Republicans and Democrats of the past, is that he’s not gonna let his Country go to war unless there’s a clearly defined objective. He’s defined that objective as Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon and has to commit long-term to never trying to rebuild nuclear capability.’

IMO there’s a not so subtle information warfare campaign being waged to try and damage Vance before ’28 primarily led and conducted by the leftist wokiestas who are, correctly, scared to death of Having Vance as President b/c he is committed to center/right populist positions. In essence that means every policy decision and every program is gonna be viewed through the prism of a single question:
‘Does this policy/program/decision mostly benefit the well being, economic prosperity, safety and security of the broad middle-class? (the 70% in between the bottom 15% and the top 15%) If the answer is ‘No’ then that particular idea isn’t gonna be approved. If it is ‘maybe’ or ‘only slightly at the margin’ then that idea is potentially gonna be scuttled. That scares the establishment, the globalists, neocons and corporatist interests b/c it upsets the apple cart and would impact their grift/graft and end their graveyard train. Same for those who fear a clear eyed realistic assessment of every ally and every alliance to determine whether it serves the National interest to maintain it. Nations like the UK and orgs like NATO and their surrogates should be worried. These worry warts on the right are making common cause with leftist wokiestas who also understand that a Vance Admin would go further towards confronting the blob of NGOs seeking to cancel Federal funding and lowering current year spending to move closer to a balanced budget.

Exactly. The soap opera garbage is completely unhelpful and plays right into Dem hands. But here the drama queens are lapping it all up like begging dogs.

This is Rubios and Hegseths foreign policy. Vance is along for the ride.

Trump will only like it if he succeeds. If he gets mired in Iran, Rubio will take the fall.

“give no fucks” Rubio at least owns it when hes interviewed.

Vance says, “well I would tell you, but I don’t want to go to prison.” A senators talk-out-of-both-sides-of-my-mouth political answer.

Vance is not Presidential material. If this Iran “excursion” succeeds and also Cuba falls, Rubio will inherit MAGA.

Please provide some specifics to back up your assertions, which frankly seem to mirror the d/prog talking points being circulated to their lap dog legacy media allies and paid surrogates.

    Said by who? 🤔

This was a clear and obvious message to the IRGC, open the strait or lose Kharg island

inspectorudy | March 14, 2026 at 3:09 am

I believe we were going to have a showdown with Iran sooner or later but it looks like our intelligence about their capability was not that good. We are certainly bombing all of their obvious and known secret bunkers but this is not going to do it. Other than Japan, thanks to the A bomb, there is no country that has been conquered by air only. They are fanatical and death to them is an entry into heaven. Somebody’s son, husband, brother, father is going to have to go fight on the ground to crush this regime. With the midterms eight months away, that is going to end Trump’s control of Congress. Like Vance or not, timing is going to be a big factor and if we had waited until after the midterms, there would be a lot more support.

I had thought that this was what Trump would get done at Kharg. It made no sense to destroy something vital to rebuilding Iran. Taking out the military to deny the island’s use as a base while keeping it’s petroleum infrastructure intact was the right move.

MoeHowardwasright | March 14, 2026 at 7:49 am

The Department of War has moved a brigade of Marines into the region. Now we have destroyed the military infrastructure on Kahrg Island. The President and Secretary Hegseth are ratcheting up the pressure on a daily basis. Fanatics don’t give up easily. Just like the nazis, the mullahs, IRGCC and the basji would rather be destroyed than suffer the humiliation of defeat by The United States and Israel. As Israel continues to gather sigint on the whereabouts of the remaining command and control persons and sends them to their 72 virgins eventually they will capitulate. And just like the nazis they know the people of Iran will exact their revenge be upon them when it’s over. That’s the fear that drives those in power.

Alex deWynter in reply to MoeHowardwasright. | March 14, 2026 at 9:57 am

Kharg is the only spot in that region where I would support American boots on the ground. Once the Islamic Regime finally realizes they’ve lost, I wouldn’t put it past them to destroy it out of spite.

Ironclaw in reply to Alex deWynter. | March 14, 2026 at 5:25 pm

Let them, they’re not supposed to be selling oil anyhow. Getting rid of their export facilities makes it way easier to enforce sanctions.

Good step. Now the Straight of Hormuz still has to be taken control of by our navy.

CommoChief in reply to Whitewall. | March 14, 2026 at 8:39 am

Can’t do that with Naval assets only. Anti ship missiles and drone swarms can be launched all along the coastal area. To prevent those attacks you’d have to occupy and control the land area extending from the shore to beyond the effective range of the missiles and drones.

Mitigation of the threat is very possible but elimination of th threat, which is what control of the Strait of Hormuz implies is really a very tough ask.

Keith Kellogg on Iran:

We should take Kharg Island.

The problem with that is that the Iranians have a huge supply of short-range missiles on the mainland, and if we occupy the island they will bombard it and our guys will be sitting ducks.

CommoChief in reply to Milhouse. | March 14, 2026 at 10:43 am

It might be possible to capture then hold the infrastructure hostage to prevent Iranian attacks. Basically take it over, set explosive charges and tell the Iranian regime that we’ll blow it up if they launch any sort of attack on Kharg Island or take action to interfere with transit through the State of Hormuz. My totally off the cuff odds…I’d give it 70/30 against this idea working to deter the Iranian regime. It could work but probably not. It might however be the best way forward as a way to highlight the fanaticism of the regime and their desperation to cling to power, motivate popular uprising and gain traction in boosting domestic public opinion to support the conflict. The very public movement of the Amphibious Ready Group of 2,200 Marines and its support vessels and air support from Japan towards Iran seems like the first stage in a phased operation re Kharg Island to build pressure on the regime.

Crazy ass mullahs, religious zealots, dont respond to rational incentives to quit.

Get ready for boots on the ground, Kharg first.

The attacks on commercial ships are likely small unmanned drone boats.
Troops might be the only way to stop them.

destroycommunism | March 14, 2026 at 3:52 pm

japan has not attacked us in over 7+ decades

They should have leveled Kharg Island a long time ago as that would be the easiest way to enforce sanctions. Hard to export oil if your export facilities have been flattened and you have no good way or infrastructure to allow you to repair them.

Strategically, I believe Trump should have targeted the piers on Kharg Island.
That way, no oil could be loaded.
Reasonably easy to rebuild, and effective targets.
