‘Traveling With a Purpose’: Suspect Rammed Vehicle Into Temple Israel Near Detroit

“It’s hard to say how fast [the suspect was traveling]. I mean, he was traveling with purpose down the hall from my look at the video.”

About an hour ago, we heard reports of an active shooter near Temple Israel in West Bloomfield Township, Michigan.

Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard confirmed the suspect is dead.

Thankfully, no kids or staff were harmed.

Bill Melugin shared a statement from DHS about the shooter, identifying him as Ayman Mohamad Ghazali:

BREAKING: DHS confirms to @FoxNews that the Michigan synagogue attacker has been ID’d as Ayman Mohamad Ghazali, a Lebanese national who first entered the U.S. in 2011 on an IR1 immigrant visa as the spouse of a U.S. citizen. He was naturalized into a U.S. citizen in 2016 during the Obama administration.

Bouchard couldn’t give too many details, including how the suspect died, but said “security did engage the suspect with gunfire.”

The suspect rammed his vehicle through the doors of Temple Israel and drove down the hall.

“It’s hard to say how fast [the suspect was traveling],” Bouchard said. “I mean, he was traveling with purpose down the hall from my look at the video.”

The car also caught on fire:

“Something ignited in the vehicle. That’s a work in progress. We’re — through an abundance of caution — clearing the vehicle for IEDs or any explosives. We’ve got a significant number of bomb dogs on site, bomb techs on site, and all of that’s going to be done to check the boxes. We have deployed resources all across the county, just in case, out of an abundance of caution that there may be a secondary site, but we don’t have any information at this time to believe that, so we want people to take a breath. No one was hurt. We’re on top of it. Chief and his team got here fast. Everything that was supposed to happen happened. Security did their job, and then the responders did theirs.”

“[The call] came out as an active shooter.”

“The vehicle’s in the hallway of the building. It’s inside the building.”

“Again, I can’t tell you what he died of until we get a little further. We haven’t actually gone into the car. It’s a — it’s still being cleared.”

Vile, stupid and evil leftists/Labour/Dhimmi-crats have opened the floodgates to terrorist attacks on Jews, worldwide, as a result of their decades-long, incessant, rabid and dishonest propaganda vilification of Israel and Israeli Jews.

Add the despicable, greasy, opportunistic, narcissistic and vile Newsolini to that list, as he was only too happy to flippantly slander Israel as an alleged “apartheid” state, while chatting with two equally despicable, former lackeys of the wretched Obama administration, on their stupid podcast.

Milhouse in reply to guyjones. | March 12, 2026 at 8:56 pm

No, he didn’t do that. He said it would become “something like an apartheid state”, if it were to annex the territories that were occupied by Jordan from 1948 to 1967, without granting the inhabitants citizenship. Enough Israelis agree with him that Israel hasn’t done that in the nearly 60 years since it took control of those territories. A big mistake, in my opinion, but it’s the reality.

guyjones in reply to Milhouse. | March 12, 2026 at 9:11 pm

That’s a distinction without a difference. You’re splitting rhetorical hairs, to an absurd degree. “Something like an apartheid state?” Oh, that’s not a slander by implication, in and of itself?

Do you seriously contend that the rabidly anti-Israel, Dhimmi-crat base draws such distinctions, in their rhetoric and comprehension? As corrupt/sleepy Joe Biden would say — “Come on, man!!!”

Newsolini was clearly trafficking in the same, tired, pervasive and wretched slanders. “It could be an apartheid state, if it does X, Y, and Z.” “Israel is committing genocide.” “Israel is a settler-colonial state.” Etc., etc.

The underlying result and effect of Newsolini’s flippant, irresponsible and incendiary rhetoric, irrespective of rhetorical distinctions or phrasing differences as compared to stock entries in the Dhimmi-crats’ wretched lexicon, is the vilification of Israel and the dehumanization of Israeli Jews, for the purpose of rationalizing and justifying Muslim terrorists’ attacks upon Israel, Israeli Jews and Jews living outside of Israel.

What on earth are you talking about? The difference between “Israel is an apartheid state” and “If Israel were to act in the following way it would be in danger of becoming one, or something like one”, is HUGE. No one could honestly claim not to see the difference, or to claim that it’s splitting hairs.

The plain fact is that he didn’t call Israel an apartheid state, or anything like it. And the opinion that were it to act as I think it should, it would become one, or close to one, is very widely held, including by every Israeli government in the past 60 years that refused to do so.

I’m all for annexation. i think it should have been done in ’67. But for most of that time a majority of Israelis disagreed, and it’s possible that a majority still disagrees. Certainly a large minority still disagrees.

Isn’t it ironic that MI Jewish voters are likely substantial supporters of MI Dhimmi- crats?

      guyjones in reply to Q. | March 12, 2026 at 6:04 pm

It’s an unfortunate reality. Although there are many conservative and pro-GOP American Jews, it’s a statistical and cultural reality that the majority of Jews in the U.S. support the vile Dhimmi-crats. This needs to change.

      Milhouse in reply to Q. | March 12, 2026 at 8:58 pm

Well, certainly at that “temple”. I doubt out Republicans are allowed to be members. A Reform “temple” is usually more hostile to Republicans than a university campus.

ztakddot in reply to Milhouse. | March 12, 2026 at 9:13 pm

Not all reform temples are alike. I don’t know what this one is like now but lumping all reform temples together is akin to lumping all Jews together,

now do you get it!@!!?!?!?!!?!??!@

    now do you get it
    They never will.

and jewss were ready this time and fought back

No, the security guard, who is very likely not Jewish, fought back.

GWB in reply to Milhouse. | March 12, 2026 at 9:06 pm

      Asking seriously…
Would that be something you would only hire a goy for (at a Reform Temple)? I think it might be necessary for Sabbath? Honestly wondering at your interpretation of that or your experience.

Milhouse in reply to GWB. | March 13, 2026 at 3:32 am

Certainly a Reform temple would have no qualms at hiring a Jew, but there aren’t that many Jews in the security guard industry. So whoever they hired is very likely not Jewish.

destroycommunism in reply to Milhouse. | March 12, 2026 at 9:41 pm

      at that moment

“we’re all jewish” mantra kicks in

lichau in reply to Milhouse. | March 13, 2026 at 11:26 am

Interesting wrinkle. As a decidedly non Jewish rural southwest rural redneck, I have always found the anti-2A stance of most Jews beyond puzzling. One would think they would be the most pro bunch out there.
Hire an armed guard? When it gets down to the real nittty-gritty……
Having said that, one of the most serious gun advocates I have known is Jewish. There is a “Jews for Firearm Ownership “, or some such. I contribute from time to them.

Milhouse in reply to lichau. | March 14, 2026 at 8:37 pm

Jews have for over 1000 years been a mostly urban people, and living in a city leads to a different relationship with weapons than living in the country does.

Also Jews were never much into hunting, because shooting an animal makes it not kosher. Even 2000 years ago Jews were trappers, not hunters. They’d trap deer alive and then slaughter them properly.

And there’s always been the cultural attitude that “The voice is the voice of Jacob, but the hands are the hands of Esav” (Genesis 27:22), in other words war and weapons are somewhat foreign and warriors were not idolized as they were in other cultures. Even warriors like David were admired for their scholarship and poetry, not for their military prowess; the opposite of what happens in most cultures, where poet-scholar-warriors are most admired for their prowess and only secondarily for their other qualities.

So with that background, and the fact that urban Jews tended to vote Democrat like other urban people, when Democrats turned against the 2A so did Jews.

destroycommunism | March 12, 2026 at 3:14 pm

it would be fair in this pr war that we connect the driver of this weapon with tlaib omar etc

This is the temple my family belonged to in the 60s when we lived in Michigan. It was also where I had my Bar Mitzvah. Of course in the 60s it was located in Detroit proper, It moved to its current location in the 80s.

We of course don’t know yet who they are or why they did it. However. if it has anything to do with Iran or Israel then it is completely in character that whoever did it attacked a soft target in the US instead of the military currently engaged against Iran. So brave. So principled.

Tucker, was that you? Candace? Megyn?

Thankfully, no kids or staff were harmed.
Reports are that the security responder was injured. I’m going to guess by flying glass or debris from the collision with the doors. Report also said he was doing fine.

Looking at the picture, a simple security measure might have prevented this: bollards. There is literally a straight shot down the parking lane to the very wide sidewalk into the front doors. At least at our church the driver would have to get up the stairs to hit the doors. (And no way could they get up speed in a straight run.) Bollards wouldn’t impede foot traffic, and they can be made removable so you can drive vehicles up that you want to be there.

GWB in reply to GWB. | March 12, 2026 at 5:35 pm

And I will retract this statement. In another picture I have seen there are clearly white bollards in that walkway, near the parking lot. So now I’m also baffled how he managed to get up to a decent speed, since he couldn’t have had a straight run at that door.

DSHornet in reply to GWB. | March 12, 2026 at 5:52 pm

An overhead view of the building shows three (?) bollards across the concrete walk leading to the doors but grass and a tree to one side. It’s possible he drove between the walk and the tree and nailed the gas for the short run through the doors. At any rate, it was his last time behind the wheel.
      .

Also, a shooting at Old Dominion University this morning. Nothing on who it was, yet. 1 dead victim, apparently, with 2 injured. The perp is dead.

Skip in reply to GWB. | March 12, 2026 at 4:43 pm

University shooter ID’d as Mohamed Jalloh — former Army National Guardsman, convicted in 2016 for attempting to provide material support to ISIS. Naturalized citizen from Sierra Leone, released from federal prison in 2024, under JOE BIDEN.

Crawford in reply to Skip. | March 12, 2026 at 5:16 pm

I’m a bit curious about his release, which appears to have been three years early. I wonder if President Otto Penn had anything to do with it.

GWB in reply to Skip. | March 12, 2026 at 5:36 pm

Wasn’t there another “Jalloh” in the news real recently? I could swear that name is recently familiar, but I can’t find anything (my search-fu sucketh).

Milhouse in reply to GWB. | March 12, 2026 at 9:08 pm

Abdul Jalloh Jalloh, also from Sierra Leone, stabbed Stephanie Minter on Feb-23, in Hybla Valley, Fairfax County, VA.

“It’s hard to say how fast [the suspect was traveling]. I mean, he was traveling with purpose down the hall from my look at the video.”
What kind of statement is this?
“Traveling with purpose down the hall”
As opposed to taking a Sunday drive down the hall?

The “Religion of Peace” is at it again. Aloha Snackbar!

Clearly we must have strict vehicle control to prevent these dangerous tools from being used for evil. /S

Let’s see how swiftly the anti 2A crowd advocates for vehicle confiscation since vehicles must already have a registration and the use requires not only a license but mandatory training…. All the things they demand for firearms as if these things will magically prevent evil actors from using them to harm others. Of course any rational person can understand that these things won’t be effective but let’s see if they take up the call for ‘vehicle control’ or once again prove to be hypocrites. After all if these measures would world work with firearms they will work with vehicles.

But they wouldn’t take this guy’s away, anyhow. He’s part of some protected group, I’m sure.

Before seeing your comment, I did rescan the article closely to see if the make and model of the truck was identified, but it was not.. Because we all know it’s important to ban the ones that are most often used in crime it has some beneficial effect or other that no one is ever actually able to explain technically, but my heaven’s, you don’t have to do science on what is Just Common Sense.

I can’t even tell you how much this hits home as I send my son to a temple school. Not this one of course but one that doesn’t look all that different. The hate is out of control with just stupid platitudes of “hate has no place in insert city here.” Yes it does hating Jews very much has a place in this country it is politically advantageous for both parties, a real money maker and vote getter and great for the virtue signaling. Yes anti Jewish hate gets you likes and followers on social media it turns stupid commentators into super stars and dead beat journalists into Pulitzer Prize authors and photographers. And anti Jewish hate gets us dead , very dead. There’s nothing people like better than dead Jews ; then they can made Hollywood movies about us being killed and give themselves stupid awards.

Schmuul, a “temple” school?! He’d be better off at a Catholic school.

schmuul in reply to Milhouse. | March 12, 2026 at 9:27 pm

Yeah he’s at a Chabad school because I want him to learn Hebrew better than I did! it’s in a synagogue; lots of security but anything can happen.

Milhouse in reply to schmuul. | March 13, 2026 at 3:35 am

Oh, so not a “temple”. Chabad does synagogues, not temples. The whole idea of calling it a “temple” was to reject the idea that we still need the actual temple and look forward every day to the day when we can rebuild it. Reform rejects that idea, so they announced that “the synagogue is now our Temple, and Berlin is now our Jerusalem”. The second part of that didn’t age well.

schmuul in reply to Milhouse. | March 13, 2026 at 7:25 am

Sorry I don’t know the whole history of that I was raised conservative-doc so I wanted something more grounding for the kids. Especially a better Hebrew education and there’s not a lot of options. We are not chabad but they are great teachers.

Milhouse in reply to Milhouse. | March 14, 2026 at 8:39 pm

Yes, they are. I was just surprised when you said they were at a temple, which would mean non-Orthodox.
