Severe Monkeypox Clade 1 Detected in New York City
I’m shocked the media and health officials buried the story since it’s a severe strain and the city had an outbreak a few years ago.
The New York Health Department quietly announced that New York City has its first case of the severe strain of monkeypox known as clade 1.
The case is the twelfth clade 1 diagnosis in America.
Medical professionals have said that clade 1 “is more likely to cause severe illness and death, especially in people who are immunocompromised.”
Weirdly enough, there’s not that much information out there about this case.
The New York Post stated the infected person recently traveled internationally:
The case of “mpox clade I” is travel-related, with the person who tested positive having recently traveled internationally, the city Department of Health announced Friday.
“There is no known local transmission of mpox clade I in New York City and the risk remains low for New Yorkers,” Health Commissioner Dr. Alister Martin said in a statement.
“The NYC Health Department recommends that New Yorkers who are at risk for mpox receive and complete the two-dose vaccine series that works to prevent mpox.”
Why aren’t the NYC media and health officials freaking out, given that the city had an outbreak a few years ago?
Oh, yeah. Those at highest risk are people who “have sex with men and identify as male, trans, nonbinary, genderqueer or gender non-conforming.”
It seems Sweden had the first clade 1 case outside of Africa in August 2024.
California had the first clade 1 case in America in November 2024.

In vaguely related news, you may recall that Nazi Germany generated themselves quite a reputation for performing involuntary medical experiments on their own population.
