Leftists, Democrats Triggered Over Money Spent on Steaks, Lobster Tails for Military
What does allocated funds for the defense budget have anything to do with healthcare and SNAP?
I don’t even know where to begin with this story.
I have to give leftists and Democrats some credit because they put in no effort to conceal their true feelings, objectives, or that their hatred for President Donald Trump blinds them.
They lost their minds when data showed that Secretary of War Pete Hegseth spent a lot of money to improve the lives of the military.
They latched onto the $20 million spent on steaks, lobster tails, and crab legs.
How Pete Hegseth spent taxpayer funds:
$225 million for furniture
$15.1 million for ribeye steak
$6.9 million on lobster tail
$5.3 million for new Apple devices
$2 million for Alaskan king crab
$139,224 on donuts
$124,000 for ice cream machines
$98,329 for a grand piano
$12,000…— Melanie D'Arrigo (@DarrigoMelanie) March 10, 2026
While they were busy cutting SNAP and health care for working families, Pete Hegseth spent $2 million on King Crab, nearly $7 million on Lobster Tails, and nearly $100,000 on a Grand Piano in the month of September.
This is where your taxpayer dollars are going.
Isn’t this… https://t.co/y1JWCKEMOF
— Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett (@RepJasmine) March 11, 2026
Hegseth spent $93 billion in one month – roughly the cost of extending the ACA tax credits for THREE YEARS.
But instead of lowering American’s healthcare costs, Hegseth used millions of taxpayer dollars on fruit baskets, Herman Miller recliners, ice cream machines, Alaskan… https://t.co/bdCHRWip3P— Chuck Schumer (@SenSchumer) March 10, 2026
Oh, honey. Oh, my darling little loudmouth.
Has Crockett mentioned anything about the alleged Somali fraud infecting Minnesota?
How about all of the recent SNAP fraud cases that have popped up in other states?
Also, who is “they?”
Didn’t Congress allocate the money for the Defense Department?
What does the allocated money have to do with healthcare costs, SNAP, and other services that do not fall under the defense budget?
Am I missing something here? Doesn’t Congress have to approve the budgets? How did the “they” cut those costs?
If Congress doesn’t want the military to eat well, have treats, and have a better life while serving, then maybe don’t hand the department billions.
Better yet, tell the Pentagon exactly how to spend the allocated funds.
Liberals are pissed off that money was spent to improve the quality of life for our soldiers, but do not care at all that billions were ripped off by Somali grifters that were supposed to help kids with disabilities. Life is about priorities and Democrats are showing you theirs. https://t.co/7zssrd0Fnr

A far cry from cheerleading DOGE, now government waste is met with cries of “what about this???” from prominent MAGA believers.
Did every principle you people held die with those Iranian children? Bah
actually its the pro blmplo anti maga people who killed/kill/murder the children
as they do it with intent
Go away little troll.
Is all of it waste? You sure you wanna go with that when the inevitable comparisons get made to other administrations? New furniture is kinda ubiquitous for each incoming administration. Surely you don’t want to imply that troops can’t have a great meal before being sent into harms way?
Considering how shitty the living accommodations and food that the troops have to deal with on a regular basis, this is the minimum they could do to make troops want to stay in. Half the Barracks on Lejeune were leaking mold infested rat traps. Lots of bases still had open squad bays from the 60s. So now that the DOW wants to spend some of it’s budget to make the troops life better ya’ll gonna bitch? GTFOH
Do us all a favor and go stuff yourself.
You are such a piece of shit poster troll I have no idea why they have not banned you yet.
Spoken by someone who has never served, and never fallen asleep exhausted, in a puddle of ice water (as I have).
or mud or stood a post thousands of miles from loved ones on Christmas like many of us have.
You’re a retard. Do you understand having to buy things for a large number of people?
There are 2 millionish people in the military. You’re mad they spent about $7 for each of them on steak and $3 each for lobster. $1 each for crab.
“Did every principle you people held die with those Iranian children?”
What a stupid and ignorant comment.
WE have principles. YOU have “feelings” and “emotions.”
Get the hell out of here, Moonmeth.
I’m sure there’s still plenty of waste; DOGE surely didn’t find all of it. But what part of this do you allege is waste? There are 1.33 million active servicemen. Giving each one $11 worth of steak once a month doesn’t seem like much. Especially when SNAP users are allowed to spend that money on steak if they like.
Where do you get off deciding what quality of food our servicemen should be allowed? Most of the time they eat MREs or cheap food that you people were complaining about just a few days ago. Now you’re complaining that occasionally they get a decent meal?!
Bah yourself. You want to talk about principles dying, where were you when 00bama labeled Nidal Hassan as “workplace violence”, when we keep saying “Allahu Akhbar” does not mean anything, and the rest of the people who refuse to identify a spade as an instrument of excavation.
Actually, DOGE be damned. This practice has gone on since BEFORE Barack 00bama and until now, not even “boo” has been heard from you people who hate DOGE.
Don’t need to “Seymour Butz” with you. You showed yours just fine.
Other than the furniture and the grand piano I don’t see anything noteworthy and the furniture was probably on a lifecycle replacement. The surf n turf is a traditional way to send off troops. You could almost use it to predict a US Military effort somewhere, kinda like the press uses a spike in take out orders/pizza delivery in DC to indicate something is brewing.
The only thing really excessive is the piano. At first I was taken aback by the surf and turf but it wasn’t really that much money.
The fact that it’s so low actually confirms how rare it is.
$22 million? Our moronic Congresscritters spent more than that on luxury hotels and meals in Ukraine.
We used to get steak and lobster at times when I served on a submarine.
I remember one evening when we were on our way back from sea the officers served all of us enlisted our dinners.
They did the dishes and cooked the food. Cleaned the kitchen. It was a blast.
Always try and keep your troops happy.
The piano was actually for the Air Force band. A little much? We can argue about that but it wasn’t for a private person.
its not about comparing who is the bigger crooks
anyoneeeee who misspends others money doesnt get a pass
This.
Democrats who criticized steak and lobster for the troops had previously approved:
$1.5 million to advance DEI in Serbia.
$70,000 for a DEI-themed musical in Ireland.
$47,000 for a “transgender opera” in Colombia.
$32,000 for a “transgender comic book” in Peru.
$6 million to fund tourism in Egypt.
$2.5 million for electric vehicles in Vietnam.
$50 million for condom distribution in Gaza.
I suspect I’ll make good use of that stuff. Unlike the unaffordable Care Act credits that do nothing other than mask the fact that it’s an unaffordable and unworkable mess.
That’s supposed to read I suspect he will make good use of it
“Leftists and Democrats triggered” Just Democrats.
So, let me point out a few things. Leftists had no problem with Biden tossing Stacey Abrams a few billion for nothing but now are screeching about this. It is a long standing tradition to feed our warriors a good meal while in the field and before engaging in battle. I got crab legs, ribeyes and lobster during Grenada and Panama plus a few other places. Our daughter ate high on the hog a few times a month while in the Sandbox. It’s the least we can do for men and women putting their lives on the line for us.
Id rather military that is front line get pay raises
higher insurance payouts
and no more VA just doctors who arent government constrained
I’d like them to get pay raises too but a good, hot meal and some care boxes go’s a long ways towards moral when your in the field. We still get Christmas Cards from a few of the men and women that we sent boxes to in Afghanistan and The Sandbox.
If someone is willing to pick up a rifle to defend our nation, I am perfectly happy with including something other than MREs when chow time comes along. We pay them next to nothing to put their lives on the line.
SNAP benefits are, in my opinion, largely fraudulent claimed by people who are able-bodied but too lazy to work for their supper. We should limit those benefits to people who have an absolute need for them.
That said, here’s another 80/20 issue that the Democrats have staked a claim to in addition to all of the other stupid positions they’ve taken of late. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if this is a 90/10 issue to be honest.
That’s the crazy thing….their food costs are ridiculously low when they are in an active combat zone and have to rely on MREs for a few days sometimes. This is well worth it to me. I haven’t seen a single SNAP recipient ever take a ration meal in any of their collective, entitled shopping sprees when the checks come in.
Not to mention that the MREs are not even close to healthy from the most recent research into them. Civilians could care less about the military.
Don’t tell me that they are not safe and effective!?
Wow, who can you trust these days!
Perhaps they will be more nutritious if you stack them in an upside-down pyramid.
The Dems would rather we feed illegals, felons and terrorists.
The Dems have turned spending into waste without any consideration of why, how, and under what circumstance this money was spent.
I addressed this on another website,
but I think this bears addressing here as well.
1) Well over 100K troops in military. Easy to spend millions if you’re feeding that many people for some (unspecified) time period.
2) Critics never specify how many meals or which troops got them –
Army or AF. Etc., Officer or enlisted, troops or if Hegeth personally ate $14 million in steaks.
3) That context is important, 40$ for 12 donuts is excessive,
$40 for 48 donuts is not.
Also, to the never-served-in-the-military (or had a relative who did) folks who came up with this complaint – FYVM. You are ignorant.
The way military food budgets work – a mess hall gets budgeted $X to serve Y meals over a period of Z days. The $X is purposely left some margin for above-average spending for Holidays, special occasions, and unplanned money shortfalls – because you feed The Troops – or they starve. Any excess left over near end of Z is spent to serve The Troops (occasional) upgraded meals. Because it’s a VOLUNTEER Army (etc) and few are willing to live off of endless servings of SOaS, steak-from-a-can, and other economy-grade menu options.
So, again, FYVM.
The Biden Administration opened the borders to one and all, spending tens of billions of dollars to give them hitel rooms, food, monthly reloaded debit cards and cell phones. Leftists said nothing $2 million to feed combat troops and they go nuts. The Left sides with rhe enemy, every time.
An army marches on its stomach.
And without donuts, the tanks can’t roll.
And then there’s the gullible ones that will believe anything.
Paul Begala: “He has spent $15 million in one month for ribeye steaks,$6.9 million for lobster tail, $225 million for furniture. He spent more in the month of September than most countries on earth spend on their defense. All for himself. Lobster tails? While our troops are eating MREs? Lobster tails?”
Jennings responding, “Do you believe the secretary of defense is personally eating all the lobster? It’s for the troops!”
