Schumer, Jeffries Demand List for DHS Reform Includes No Immigration Enforcement Near Polling Places

Democrats are always telling on themselves, no matter what the issue is, and that’s certainly been the case with their militant opposition to the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement operations, which have taken place in problem blue cities and states across the country over the past year.
One “tell” in particular that helps make the GOP’s points in favor of passing the SAVE Act has come from a number of Democrats in recent months. Among them was California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D), who in August said that the ICE agents who showed up outside of an event he held were a “preview” of what was to come at polling places and “in front of voting booths,” that ICE would be sent there by President Trump to “intimidate people.”
That prompted then-Acting U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli (Central District of California) to ask the following question:

More recently, there was the HB 1442 bill introduced by Virginia Democrat Delegate Alfonso H. Lopez, which seeks to prohibit federal immigration enforcement activity within 40 feet of polling places:

Prohibits any person from performing any act for the purpose or in furtherance of enforcement of federal immigration laws within 40 feet of any building, or part thereof, used as (i) a polling place, (ii) a meeting place for the local electoral board while the electoral board meets to ascertain the results of an election, or (iii) the place for a recount.
But in perhaps the most glaring example of saying the “quiet part out loud,” the list of demands for DHS reform released by Sen. Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), which was sent to Republican House and Senate leadership Wednesday, includes a call for no funding to go towards immigration enforcement operations near polling places:
Democratic leaders laid out their demands for reform at the Department of Homeland Security in a letter to Republican leadership on Wednesday, as lawmakers race to reach a compromise before the agency’s funding runs out in less than 10 days.

Democrats also want agents to identify themselves, use body-worn cameras, and stop wearing masks or face coverings while conducting enforcement operations, among other restrictions.
Democrats are also insisting that DHS funds not be used to conduct enforcement near “sensitive locations,” such as schools, medical facilities, places of worship, and polling places.

Sens. Katie Britt (R-AL) and Mike Lee (R-UT), not surprisingly, had thoughts:

As far as Sen. Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) goes, though, it doesn’t sound like Dems are going to have much luck with their demands:
“It’s totally unrealistic, their demand list went from 3 items to 10 items,” Thune said. “It just shows you they’re not serious. There’s a bunch of stuff in there that’s a non-starter, and they know it. Maybe they had to put it in there to satisfy MoveOn or some of their left wing special interest groups.”

They can have a compromise on sensitive places if the.States and locals also implement a ban on LEO of all kinds in thsoe.same places. No whining when bad things happen in a school and suddenly they want the SWAT team or the FBI Hostage Rescue Team to show up and deal with a terrorist group that took over a Hospital, School, place of worship. In or out no exceptions and they gotta add City Hall, State Legislature to list of unprotected locations where no LEO of any type can enter.
The Dems list is just a bluff: most of the Dems want to defund ICE. So, GOP should call their bluff and make every Dem on the hook for shutting down ICE.
Let us hope they can display and maintain the level of testicular fortitude necessary to do so.
