Pete Hegseth Announces War Department Cutting Academic Ties With More Elite Universities
“We cannot and will not send our most capable officers, senior officers, into graduate programs that undermine the very values they have sworn to uphold.”
A few weeks ago, Pete Hegseth announced that the War Department was cutting academic ties with Harvard. Now he is following up with a similar move directed towards Yale, Brown, Columbia, MIT, and others.
Hegseth claims that these schools do not share the same values as the U.S. Military because they are teaching students to hate their own country. It is impossible to disagree with him on this.
FOX News reports:
Hegseth bans military from attending Princeton, Columbia, other elite universities: ‘Wokeness and weakness’
Secretary of War Pete Hegseth on Friday said he was ordering the “complete and immediate cancellation” of all Department of War attendants at universities like Princeton, Columbia, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Brown and Yale, starting with the 2026-27 academic year.
Hegseth added that the ban would also include “many others,” claiming the higher education system has been “poisoned from within from a class of so-called elite universities who’ve abused their privilege and access to this department and utterly betrayed their purpose.”
Hegseth’s announcement comes after he similarly banned active-duty service members earlier this month from attending Harvard starting next year.
He accused the universities of gorging themselves for decades on a “trust fund of American taxpayer dollars only to become factories of anti-American resentment and military disdain.”
He claimed the universities had replaced “the study of victory and pragmatic realism with the promotion of wokeness and weakness.”
“This is not education, this is indoctrination,” he added.
“The Department of War is finished subsidizing the corruption of our own in uniform class,” he said. “We’re done paying for the privilege of our enemies’ wicked ideologies to be taught to our future leaders. We’ve had enough.”
“We cannot and will not send our most capable officers, senior officers, into graduate programs that undermine the very values they have sworn to uphold.”

This is so long overdue.
If these schools have a problem with this, they can easily correct the problem. They won’t because they simply don’t want to do it.
That should tell you everything you need to know about this.

Amazing what our military can do when it focuses on war fighting
I think a few “bad actors” around the world are taking notice of the change in regime this time round!
Burn the schools down and blacklist their faculty, staff. administrators, and trustees. They are actively working to sabotage the country and we won’t have one unless drastic actions are taken.
Place a hefty tax on their assets.
Due for sure. How many colleges and universities actually promote pride in our nation? An understanding of what makes us unique? Our history from many points of view – Founding, Documents, military, Freedom to create and grow, and legally accepting more people from more places than any nation – people who wanted to be Americans.
That last point is the most important…’people who wanted to Americans’. We have too many people in positive power and authority who seem to view US Citizenship not as a reciprocal commitment between Nation and Citizen in which there’s a set of obligations/duties and more of an unencumbered right. IMO one way to end this viewpoint is to restrict/eliminate ‘dual citizenship’. If an adult US Citizen wishes to obtain citizenship in another Nation by all means have at it, but upon receipt they mist renounce their US Citizenship. Children who are eligible for dual citizenship should be exempt until age 18 and have until their 19th birthday to declare whether to retain their US Citizenship. Make it part of selective service registration process by requiring females to register and making the sign up date NLT 19th birthday. After that date impose the various existing penalties for failure to register. In the case of dual eligible they lose the presumption of US Citizenship if they didn’t register and simultaneously ask the State Dept to act on their behalf to inform the other Nation they renounce their claim to any Citizenship. Probably be best to get buy in from other Nations to accept it but at minimum our ‘allies’ shouldn’t balk at it. This has the added benefit of ending most any questions of dual loyalty by forcing a choice.
It was really bad when the military academies were woke.
when the dna is as poisonous as has now been proven via the educational system in america
this move is a high level move we applaud
THIS is what I was looking for when he announced that ties were being cut with Harvard. I said then that that was just the start. Do more!
This is still only a start. Lay out specific things schools can do to attract the military (and its money) and specific things they must not do. Make them do better!
So the men and women in the military who put their lives on the line to defend the country cannot deal with ideas with which they disagree?
One of the arguments for higher education is the meeting of ideas from different points of view. By withdrawing military members from institutions, not only will the number of points of view be diminished, but the institutions will become even more isolated from pro-US and pro-military ideas. Much of the exchange of the ideas happen outside of the classroom.
People who served have a different viewpoint that so called intellectuals on all sorts of issues. Removing veterans from a school only means those viewpoints will not be heard and that the indoctrination will be even more intense.
It’s not a case of simple disagreement. It is documented fact that over 95% of university faculty are Leftist; that they donate to Leftist politicians and organizations exclusively; that they incorporate Leftist/communist propaganda into all of their teaching, even in subjects where it is inappropriate (hard sciences and engineering, for example); that they abandon their classes in favor of political activism at every opportunity; that they grade based on students’ political alignment; and more. These are documented facts. The majority of so-called universities have no interest whatever in debate, in give-and-take of competing ideas. The only thing they are interested in is political prosletysing, propaganda, hate.
I am not disputing those facts and ideas.
The problem I have is that the leftist ideas and wokeness will now flourish without a dissenting voice from the very people who placed their lives on the line to promote the exchange of ideas and American exceptionalism. While before there was pushback (although limited) now there will be none as we are banning the actual real world experts.
My other concern is that the mentioned universities and colleges put out graduates that, for whatever reason, leave the school and get well paying jobs. We are telling the vets that they no longer have access to that benefit but the woke people will.
I am just not sure that this action gives the benefits that Hegseth and others think it will and more likely will harm the vets and the presentation of opposing ideas at these schools.
Is there a problem? The elite U’s hate the military, and our nation’s armed forces officers deserve to attend institutions of higher learning which are at least neutral on the issue for a positive academic experience.
