OSU Professor Faces Assault Charges
Ohio State University professor Luke Perez faces assault charges after attacking a filmmaker on campus last week, according to The Columbus Dispatch.
OSU placed Perez, an assistant professor at the Salmon P. Chase Center for Civics, Culture and Society, on administrative leave last Wednesday after he assaulted filmmaker Mike Newman. Newman was attempting to question E. Gordan Gee, a two-time former OSU president and an invited speaker to Perez’s Profiles in American Leadership class.
The attack was caught on video by D.J. Byrne, author of the local left-wing newsletter The Rooster, after Byrne and Newman intercepted Gee coming out of a public restroom. The encounter occurred after a calm exchange between Gee and Byrne, when Newman said he wanted to ask “just one more” question.
Liberals feel justified in assaulting a journalist, just because he doesn’t agree with him.
This is an Ohio State University professor of civics. He couldn’t answer a question, so he responded with violence. pic.twitter.com/vGW9aWfn36

It doesn’t look like this had anything to do with his not agreeing with him, or with his not being able to answer a question, but about a rude cameraman sticking his camera in someone’s face, after having been warned not to.
An interesting interpretation.
Assuming you are correct, and a rude cameraman ‘shoved a camera into your face’, does that justify a physical assault and destruction of property?
I see the cameraman taking a couple steps forward and to the right, saying ‘just one more, sir’. Someone says ‘no, no,’ as the gentleman in the red jacket steps to his left, placing his body into the cameramans path to physically block his movement. Cameraman says okay and appears to start backing up. Gentleman in the red jacket then slaps at the camera equipment and physically assaults the cameraman.
Would be at least disorderly conduct, no?
I would like.to see more of the video, however.
Bull. Guy got a little close but was clearly stepping back when he was attacked. That guy had no right to attack someone filming him in a public setting.
When the ‘professor’ said ‘No’ to ‘just one more’, the cameraman appeared to be backing away when the professor attacked. The attack appeared to be an unprovoked assault. The woman who did a u-turn in the hallway should be deposed soon, before her memory ‘fades’.

Has a longer form video from Newman’s camera
The professor claims to be an expert “international human rights.” He could use some first hand experience with the Ohio criminal justice system, as well as in anger management. It might give him some perspective on human rights.
