MI Gov. Gretchen Whitmer Doesn’t Want to ‘Go Back and Relive’ COVID-Era Policies
“We were doing the best we could with very little or very bad information”
Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer recently appeared on the Caleb Hammer Podcast and said that she doesn’t want to ‘relive’ the policies she put in place during the COVID-19 pandemic.
I bet she doesn’t.
I’m guessing her constituents don’t want to relive it either.
FOX News reports:
Gretchen Whitmer confronted on ‘weird’ COVID restrictions, says she did her best with poor information
Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, D-Mich., was confronted about COVID-19 restrictions in Michigan during a conversation on Caleb Hammer’s “Financial Audit” show as the pair discussed the state’s finances.
“I was a little annoyed when I came home for Christmas two years in a row. Like we had to eat outside, but we were in inside pods outside. It was a little weird, then I came back here, and then I could just do whatever,” Hammer told Whitmer.
Hammer, who has more than 2.6 million subscribers on YouTube, has blunt conversations with guests about their finances on “Financial Audit,” and Whitmer was his first political guest, according to his social media. Hammer has invited other governors and federal officials to come on the show as well.
Whitmer agreed and said it was weird, and added, “Remember what the temperature was. Here [in Texas], you can walk around outside all day, right? But at home, in Michigan, in the winter, we’re all inside breathing on each other.”
“But if I was allowed to be inside outside, why couldn’t I just be inside inside?” Hammer asked.
Whitmer said that he was “inside outside” with just a small group of people, though Hammer added that he was around servers and busers as well.
“Listen, Caleb, none of us wants to go back and relive that. We were doing the best we could with very little or very bad information,” Whitmer said.
Here’s the clip:
.@sircalebhammer to @GovWhitmer on COVID restrictions: But if I was allowed to be inside outside, why couldn't I just be inside inside?
GW: because you were inside outside with just your small group of people
CH: …and the servers and busers…
GW: Listen, Caleb, none of us… pic.twitter.com/iiiQqST4Kp

Dining and seating policies were one thing. What about the restriction on buying seeds?
My Crazy World archive that I started in 2020 is now 3285 items, 29 Gb.
I try to archive things daily now if I can. Back in 2020-2022 it was much more sporadic.
Its full of banger memories. Like this one, when Gov Whitmer banned the sale of seeds. 4/10/2020 pic.twitter.com/6yarX9pRKP

Unfortunately for Whitmer, while people don’t want to ‘relive’ these policies, no one is willing to just move on.
We actually need to re-live it. All of these politicians do. https://t.co/Y2ANNMYfau

No, let’s relive it because nobody in charge ever really paid the price for what they did to us. https://t.co/KYnCOSSafB

My grandmother died alone.
Nobody could attend her funeral.
I assure you that I am interested in “reliving” that to ensure those responsible are held accountable https://t.co/zo9hv9nzMA

Except, other Governors made better decisions with the same information. Your “instinct” was to restrict. That is a problem… https://t.co/uQxp2kUeBX

The Tampa Free Press provides this handy reminder of some of Whitmer’s other Covid-era policies:
Governor Whitmer’s handling of the pandemic, and several subsequent actions, drew significant backlash throughout 2020 and 2021.
- Dining Violation: In May 2021, Whitmer faced criticism and issued an apology after being caught violating her own restrictions by dining maskless indoors with a large group at a restaurant in East Lansing, exceeding the six-person table limit in place at the time. The administration rescinded that specific rule the following day.
- Business Closures: Numerous Michigan restaurants and businesses were forced to close due to the restrictions, leading to widespread economic concern.
- Travel and “Non-Essential” Items: Other contentious restrictions included a 2020 order preventing Michiganders from traveling “between two residences,” an order deeming home-improvement and gardening items like fruit and vegetable seeds as “non-essential,” and controversy over her husband reportedly seeking special treatment for a boat launch.
- Inauguration and Florida Trip: The Governor also traveled to Florida in March 2020, shortly before appearing on national television to urge others to avoid spring break travel there. She also attended former President Joe Biden’s inauguration in January 2021, a trip that critics argued contradicted her own guidance on travel and large gatherings.

No amnesty for Covid totalitarians, their enablers and their advocates.
She and everyone else had good information on effective policies.
She and all the other leftists chose to ignore good information and instead imposed BS restrictions that had no effect on transmission.
Its worth noting that even if all the restrictions worked, they would never accomplish anything since everyone was going to catch covid eventually.
Flew down on a private jet to Florida to see daddy also. I think she basically said “my bad”, so sorry.
Let them die alone, in complete isolation.
Huh. Weird. She was so good at suppressing information and was a queen of inflicting pain on Michiganders, I wonder why she doesn’t was to revisit her policies.
Witless reveled in her power abuse.

Michigan governor’s husband under fire for asking to take his boat out during lockdown
Whitmer said her husband made a
‘failed attempt at humor’
in asking if boat could be put in the water by Memorial Day weekend.
She also banned the use of gas motors on boats during her stalinesque diktats.
It’s hard to have too much sympathy for Michiganders. In spite of the misery she inflicted upon them, they chose to re-elect wretched Gretchen in 2022.
That was the unions thanking her for ending right to work and ensuring that workers and companies have to pay their shakedown for the privilege of being allowed to do business.
I’ll bet she doesn’t want to revisit, but damn did she enjoy abusing her power at the time or what?
Now that mail in ballots are permanent there is no need to return to covid policies.
she doesnt want to….but may have to if they need to regain control
The woman is a menace to a free society (Yes, I am a Michigander born and bred), and must be held publicly accountable. However, her Republican accomplices in the legislature were complicit, hiding in their basements, making YouTube videos of their displeasure and never doing a single thing to change it. While they dithered about maybe filing a legal action, several private organizations (Doctors) did file suit and won, and many of her draconian policies began slowly to lift. The Republicans claimed credit for it. A whole lot of people need to be held publicly accountable. On both sides.
The barber was the her biggest pain in the azz. He ignored her, she sent the SS michigan state nazipolicia after him and he beat her in court. Took a while but she lost when it hit the state supreme court.
I went and got a haircut from one of his ladies the day he lost a round in court. As I pulled up the camera crew was leaving. The ladies got arrested on the steps of the capitol when they decided to publicize their work. State cops really lost a lot of good will in my eyes over their behavior.
Guy was smart, no prices for haircuts, just a basket with give what you want. It was filled with 50’s and 100’s, mine included along with a $50 tip to the lady who did the cut.
“I’m guessing her constituents don’t want to relive it either.”

They reelected her even after the deaths of all those elderly and the stupid restrictions she ignored and her buddy AG never charged her. As well she was thinking of putting the sick people in a kids camp called North Star Reach for children with serious health challenges and their families.
Michigan voters can out stupid even cali voters.

The sit down restaurants were shut down. You could order and go sit in your car and the waitress would bring your order to your car. I’d say most of the idiots would vote her in for a third term if she wasn’t term limited.
How about blaming the American public for allowing themselves to be herded like sheep, and being too stupid to access or understand available information?
I think we all need a national group therapy session about COVID in which are “elite” politicians like Gretchen have to listen to the damage they did to their constituents with their supposedly good intentions. Worth recalling Gretchen, is that Ron the Florida man didn’t do the same insane lock downs and gov’t overreach with the same information you had and neither did Georgia or Texas. Other options were available you just chose grandstanding and virtue signaling because it was cool at the time. This is why less gov’t is always better and they whole stupid “but we have to do something,” is just ignorant group think that the gov’t actually has any actual clue.
Listen to the damage they did? They don’t give a flying fu*k about you or the damage they did to you.
Did you see the quote from the NYC commie mayor?
“We will prove that there is no problem too large for government to solve and no concern too small for it to care about.”
That is some scary stuff right there.
Tough shit, Stretchin Gretchin. We are not going to let you forget what you did to us while your husband was floating around on your yacht.
