Sen. Mark Kelly Calls Kamala Harris a “Strong” 2028 Candidate
Voters may remember that the last time Kamala Harris faced Donald Trump, she couldn’t carry a single battleground state.
Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ) joined NBC’s Meet the Press on Sunday, where he offered a surprisingly upbeat endorsement of former Vice President Kamala Harris as a potential 2028 presidential contender, even though she lost decisively to Donald Trump in 2024.
Kelly was asked directly by host Kristen Welker whether Harris would be “a strong candidate in 2028.”
Q: "Do you think Kamala Harris would be a strong candidate in 2028?"
Kelly: "Candidate? Ya, absolutely."
Q: "You would encourage her to run?"
Kelly: "I think she would be incredibly strong. I think you're gonna have a dozen, if not more, folks running." pic.twitter.com/bWT3oOQM8P

“Yeah, absolutely. Yeah. I mean, she was, she was the nominee last time. I think you would encourage her to run. I think she would be incredibly strong. I think you’re going to have, you know, a dozen, if not more, folks running, probably on either side,” Kelly said.
Kelly’s confidence stands in sharp contrast to Harris’s actual record. She became the Democratic nominee only after President Biden dropped out, long after every state had already voted in the primaries. Despite a campaign war chest exceeding $1 billion, she failed to win a single swing state against Trump in 2024.
When pressed about whether his own name might be among those running in 2028, Kelly quickly pivoted to foreign policy and government priorities:
“We’re focused on trying to get the government open right now, trying to get our troops paid. I mean, there is a still war going on in Ukraine… We’ve got, you know, challenges in the Western Pacific and Indo-PACOM with the Chinese. I’m concerned that this administration is going to change our national defense strategy to focus just on the western hemisphere, where our pacing threat is clearly China,” he said.
Those comments suggest that while Kelly may be downplaying his own ambitions, he’s positioning himself as a measured national voice, just as Harris works to rebuild her political image. Her ongoing national book tour for 107 Days has drawn attention not for its sales pitch, but for her sharp words toward fellow Democrats, including Kelly.
During the Meet the Press interview, Welker noted that Harris wrote she had considered Kelly as a potential running mate before deciding he was “untested” for the national stage. Asked for his reaction, Kelly responded with characteristic restraint:
Sen. Mark Kelly on Kamala Harris writing that she didn't select him as VP because she "wasn't sure how he would cope with the kind of garbage Trump would throw at him":
"I'm pretty good at handling garbage. That's never been a problem…I'm not so much focused on a book, but I… pic.twitter.com/MVXuIi9K7x

“Well, I’m pretty good at handling garbage. That’s never been a problem. It was an honor to be considered. And you know, we right now, we’re trying to address all kinds of problems right now, and I’m not so much focused on a book, but I do wish her success, and I hope she sells a lot of books. As somebody who’s written some books, it’s hard to sell books,” Kelly said.
It’s a gracious answer, but one that can’t mask the political reality. Harris’s 2024 defeat was one of the most lopsided modern losses for Democrats, and her polling numbers among independents and moderates remain deeply underwater.
Even if Kelly insists she’d be “incredibly strong,” voters may remember that the last time Kamala Harris faced Donald Trump, she couldn’t carry a single battleground state.

Yes she is strong if you believe the best way to go around the block is to circumnavigate the earth.
So strong a dozen other candidates think they have a better shot.
He doesn’t believe a word of what he is saying. He’s just courting the soon to be disappointed Harris voters.
Which isnt many. He might get more by calling it for what it is.
Even my liberal friends who voted for her don’t want to see her run for anything ever again.
As Border Czar, she strengthened the border to withstand heavy foot traffic. Under her leadership, the border was so strong that 2 million illegals crossed it each month without hurting it all.
Kelley is too loopy from spending too much time in space.
She doesn’t look very strong to me considering her scorched earth book tour. AWFL cat ladies are showing up for some reason but no one else
Strong is a synonym for pungent…
Democrats simply do not renominate candidates who previously lost a presidential election. Don’t see anything in Kamala (and her list of 107 excuses) that would cause them to break that pattern.
Not since Adlai Stevenson, though one and arguably both times were just going through the motions.
Lol
Kamala and AOC
Can’t wait
Dumber and Dumber #3
AOC/Ghetto Barbie 2028. The ticket America has been waiting for.
The ticket placed under America’s windshield wiper.
Please, keep running her, please. RNC should put out psyops on how worried they are about her.
It would be a real shame if the DNC threw us into that briar patch again.
It would be a real shame if we become overconfident.
The Democrats know how to motivate their base. The coming election will be following a Trump term, rather than a Biden term. There was a lot of Biden fatigue last time around that even Democrat voters shared. The next election will be different.
The Trump administration needs to start hammering home every single achievement today. Every day there needs to be news about how the Trump administration helped ordinary Americans as a counter to the constant orange man bad news. Whoever Trump designates as his successor (Vance, Rubio, whoever) needs to have their role highlighted.
Radiation damage to the brain.
He’s been smoking and inhaling.
Please, please, please d/prog y’all should absolutely grant Harris a ‘mulligan’ for her performance in ’24…after all she only had 107 days to defeat the Orange Man Bad and golly gee whiz she’d have benefited from being the anointed candidate from the beginning. Pretty sure DEI and CRT both demand y’all run Harris again in ’28, no backsliding on your woke ideology when it slams into a brick wall of reality or becomes inconvenient to your party’s electoral fortunes.
And don’t forget another couple billion dollars and half of Hollywood.
Harris wouldn’t be a strong candidate if she mainlined anabolic steroids and replicated Rocky Balboa’s training regime.
Harris is the poster child for what happens when you 1) offer sexual favors to advance your career, 2) are Peter-principaled to positions based upon DEI, and 3) are selected as a VP candidate based on your skin color, gender, and sub-100 level IQ such that you pose no threat to your boss.
In a real world setting, Harris would be the urban bus driver fired for getting lost on her route.
But, by all means Senator Kelly, run this ridiculously inept moron again.
Lets see how strong she is without money
Wait until someone tells her that Two Buck Chuck is now $4.50.
After a bunch of fools dropped over $1 Billion dollars on her I can’t see them ponying back up to the trough.
If the economy does not improve and improve in a real detectable way for normal people not only Kamala but anyone will be able to beat J.D. Vance in a general election.
We still have the Biden Era inflation, and to see if housing prices will go down you could check the price of the building materials (more expensive especially steel) and the housing regulations for the legal expenses (those are remaining the same) so we also have the housing price spike.
A good place to start is reducing prices.
Economy not improving means loss in 2028. Trump won by a relatively small margin, we have not unlocked permanent single party republican rule.
Or we could deport the 20-30 million illegal aliens which instantly free up a metric shit ton of housing supply by removing demand.
The economy is in trouble b/c the fundamentals are out of whack. Too many zombie corporations, too much concern about stock prices on Wall St v small business on Main St. The money supply M2 is at historic levels and the decade and a half following ’08 housing bubble pop we had zero to near zero lending. That loose monetary policy created lots of mal investment and boondoggles. Plus spiraling debt now $37.5 Trillion and continued deficit spending. Way over simplified solution… start worrying about small business on Main St, not the corporations on Wall St and about how/why wealth concentration and the purchasing power of wages has become so distorted since 1970.
I have never defended illegal immigration.
However for housing no matter what prices will be higher if material is higher and regulator atmosphere is more severe.
Just going back to free market principles on both of those issues would help alleviate those prices a lot.
I also would like to see an explanation of why you think small businesses are the ones who aren’t hurt most by higher priced raw material.
Furthermore most Americans own stock. There is no separation between ordinary Americans and Wall Street.
When inflation “stops,” that usually just means that it doesn’t continue to increase. Prices never go back to what they were pre-inflation, even if there’s some relief, to a greater or lesser degree, on some products. Most of the price rises during an inflationary period are permanent. The 25 cent loaf of bread and 15 cent hamburger are both waaaaaay back there in the rear-view mirror.
Steel costs more in America than anywhere else. That is something that goes straight to the price of everything that steel is used in.
I agree it isn’t just “inflation stops go back to normal” you need to make reducing inflation a priority.
However the economy is not the issue people forgive.
J.D. Vance is serving as VP, he has no more ability to escape the current economy than Kamala did.
Are you stupid or just so deranged that you can’t see the forest for the trees.
Are you denying that
“It’s the economy stupid”
Thanks Martha McSally……
More ilke Doug Ducey, who WAS dumb enough to nominate a proven loser to the same seat she lost.
True that!
Strong… I do not think that word means what he thinks it means
I’ll never understand why someone with a military career could become a member of a political party so dedicated to destroying everything he protected and fought for.
Remember John Glenn?
Another boyhood hero down in flames.
Well the democratic party wasn’t so nuts then. It probably started with jimmy carter, Today though there are plenty of democrats with military service now serving in Congress or like little Timmy screwing things up at the state level.
Use RICO to permanently abolish the Democrat Crime cabal
Seize EVERY asset, especially the Marxist propaganda press
No other criminal enterprise would be left intact. MAGA and “Republicans” GROW A SET Democrats conspired with hostile foreign regimes to not only import as many CRIMINAL MIGRANTS AS POSSIBLE during the Kenyan’s 3rd term, they conspired to EMPTY PRISONS AND MENTAL INSTITUTIONS and FLY THOSE PEOPLE HERE in midnight flight sponsored by our traitors in the deep state. Destinations included HPN (Westchester NY)
This is the type of thing that DIRECTLY led to the rape/murder of Jocelyn Nungary, a 12 year old Texas girl, and countless others.
It’s unlikely the Democrat crime cabal could have disappeared the mountains of evidence associated with this facet of the Democrat crime cabal.
RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act) can apply to immigration crimes if they’re part of a pattern of racketeering activity conducted by an organized enterprise.
RICO targets ongoing criminal enterprises engaging in specific predicate offenses, like fraud, extortion, or trafficking. Some immigration-related crimes, such as visa fraud, human smuggling, or document trafficking, could qualify as predicate offenses if they meet RICO’s criteria: a structured group, repeated illegal acts over time, and an impact on interstate or foreign commerce. For example, a criminal organization systematically smuggling migrants or forging immigration documents for profit could face RICO charges.
However, standalone immigration violations, like illegal entry without an organized scheme, typically wouldn’t trigger RICO. Prosecutors must prove the enterprise’s structure and a pattern (at least two predicate acts within 10 years). Penalties include up to 20 years per racketeering count, fines, and asset forfeiture.
Kelly’s judgment hasn’t been the best since his days as an astronaut, assuming it ever was. It’s not atypical of him to predict what a great candidate Kammy would make. He’s the guy who brashly announced to the world that he was going to show just how easy it was for anyone to buy an AR-15 “assault weapon” in the USA… and despite his being a veteran and an astronaut, had his purchase rejected… not once, but twice, and AFTER being subjected to a standard NICS background check AND a 20-day waiting period (the latter solely because the goofball chose to buy it from a pawnshop rather than from a commercial dealer, probably to make his point, which backfired on him).
Maybe his twin brother got all the brains. then again probably not
This may put Mark Kelly into the running for the RNC’s MVP.
It is clear that Kamala was picked as VP for Biden because like Obama who picked Biden as VP Dems want someone on the ticket that is dumber then them and will not outshine them. To AZ voters when Kelly runs next time it is clear he is not bright if he thinks Kamala should be President so I suggest find someone else to vote for.
“To AZ voters when Kelly runs next time it is clear he is not bright if he thinks Kamala should be President so I suggest find someone else to vote for.”
Where’s John McCain when you need him?
Where he belongs.
For someone only 61, that photo of him makes him look unusually old.
I agree but they always pick a bad pic for a democrat. He doesn’t seem to have the eye bags though,
If you were married to Gun Control Giffords and was forced to associate with the gun banning weirdo’s on a daily basis you’d prematurely age too.
Mark Kelly thinks Kamala Harris is a strong a candidate for president. Reminds me of Barbara Bush who thought her son Jeb would be a strong candidate:
“My Daddy was president. My big brother was president. And now it’s my turn, right Mama?”
Yeah Mark, best pick ever
Go ahead and double dare ya to pick her
Strong candidate. Yeah, sure.
Hunter Biden is a stronger candidate. Much stronger. At least he can tell you what he thinks and what he wants to do without word salads, and he articulates everything Democrats really believe in.
Pritzker is a stronger candidate. He is in a unique position, being both a Big Fat Dem Oligarch and a politician at the same time. Most of the other big Oligarchs (Soros, Omidayr, Hoffman, etc..) fund politicians, but don’t run for office themselves.
Newsom is a stronger candidate. He has slickness, and is wealthy, although not at oligarch levels.
AOC is a stronger candidate, but she will probably run for Senate instead, and run for Prez in 2032 from a Senate seat.
The only question surrounding the 2028 presidential election is how wide a margin of victory the Vance-Rubio ticket will attain, over whatever clowns-apparent the Dhimmi-crats choose to nominate.
When he went to space, it was apparently as ballast.
Shocks my faith in humanity that creatures this stupid can exist and are actually, technically, homo sapiens.
“Idiocracy” was a documentary, and this clown is the poster boy.
Oh, please, run her again against J.D. – she won’t do any better against him than she did against Trump. She is still as unaccomplished as she ever was, with her name recognition a poor substitute for basic competence. Another round of nonsensical word salad droning won’t get her into the White House.
Obviously, he spent too much time in space and his thinking is distorted.
Mark Kelly: Bald headed guy that left his thinking cap at home.
His dunce cap, more aptly, LOL.
Earth to Major Tom…..
