Republican Jack Ciattarelli Picking Up Endorsements From Democrats in NJ Governor Race

Republican Jack Ciattarelli Picking Up Endorsements From Democrats in NJ Governor Race

“When Democrats in Hudson County are standing with us, you know change is coming”

Jack Ciattarelli is picking up endorsements from members of both parties in his bid for governor of New Jersey. The Garden State may be a blue state, but they have elected Republicans as governors from time to time, much like Massachusetts.

Ciattarelli appeared on FOX & Friends this week and refuted the FOX News poll showing him eight points behind Democrat Mikie Sherrill. He claims that he is being met with tremendous energy wherever he goes.

Don’t forget, Ciatarelli came extremely close to winning the NJ governor race in 2021.

In the clip below, Ciattarelli says:

“Republicans traditionally under poll New Jersey. There’s energy everywhere I go. And last night we picked up another very significant endorsement from another Democratic mayor.”

“There isn’t a single Republican that has endorsed my opponent whose entire campaign is based on a stack of lies, her disdain for Donald Trump, and that she can fly a helicopter. None of that is going to fix New Jersey.”

When he talks about the endorsements he is picking up, he’s not kidding.

The New York Post reports:

Republican Jack Ciattarelli nabs key endorsements in Democratic stronghold of New Jersey

New Jersey Republican gubernatorial contender Jack Ciattarelli notched a raft of key endorsements Sunday in the Democratic stronghold of Hudson County.

Two prominent officials in North Hudson threw their weight behind Ciattarelli: North Bergen Commissioner Allen Pascual and West New York Commissioner Marcos Arroyo.

“When Democrats in Hudson County are standing with us, you know change is coming,” Ciattarelli proclaimed after locking down the endorsements. “This isn’t about party lines — it’s about fixing New Jersey and I’m the only candidate with a plan to get it done.”

In addition to those two endorsements, former Hudson County Democratic Chairman Anthony Vainieri Jr. is rumored to endorse Ciattarelli within days, the New Jersey Globe reported.

Hudson County, the fourth-most populous county in the Garden State, which encompasses cities like Jersey City, Hoboken and Secaucus, is generally seen as one of the most solidly Democratic counties in the state.

Conservative activist Scott Presler, who played a key role in flipping Pennsylvania red in 2024, is on the ground in New Jersey getting out the vote.

All of the excitement seems to be on Ciatarelli’s side in this race. A Republican running in a blue state could not ask for a better position.

Fox polls always seem to favor Democrats. It’s very frustrating.

“The Garden State may be a blue state, but they have elected Republicans as governors from time to time, much like Massachusetts.”

Massachusetts?

“New York City may be an infra-blue city, but they have elected ‘Republicans’ like Mikey Bloomberg from time to time.”

Notice a pattern?

Ciattarelli may turn out to be a “best you could hope for” blue-state Republican. Or, he may turn out to be a political transvestite, like Mitt Romney and Bill Weld. Applying the “L. Neil Smith X-Ray Machine” to his positions on my One Big Issue, my money’s on the latter.

Jack Ciattarelli is just a typical Jersey politician. Very swampy and with the legislature remaining blue most likely there is nothing he can do other than slow the decline.

I mean it’s better than a true blue winner – and he’s not a self righteous pompous globalist ass like Romney – but unless he can get voter integrity or break government union funding it’s just gonna be a speed bump versus beginning of real change.

Scottie P may have a different perspective on the ground but I happily fled there 2 decades ago and have never been tempted to return.

Anyone remember Christine Todd Whitman? Exactly.

If Ciattarelli wins he will drag some State House and Senate races along with him.

He came within 3% last time of defeating an incumbent, Murphy, despite being vastly underfunded. This is a winnable contest. That said the Northeast GoP and electorate ain’t exactly the same as the Southeast and everyone should temper their expectations to match that reality. If he wins it’s gonna be incremental change not an overnight shift in how NJ operates.
