The New York Post reported that the campaign of socialist and likely the next mayor of New York City, Zohran Mamdani, took thousands of illegal donations.
Only American citizens can donate to PACs and political campaigns.
The $13,000 in donations include his mother-in-law in Dubai:
At least 170 of the nearly 54,000 contributions to the leading Democratic candidate’s campaign came from donors with addresses outside the United States, an examination of NYC Campaign Finance Board records found.
Only US citizens or permanent legal residents are allowed to contribute to political campaigns and political action committees under federal, state and city law, and candidates are expected to return any of the illegal donations. Violators who knowingly accept foreign donations could face hefty fines and imprisonment.
But so far, the campaign has failed to return 88 of the foreign donations worth a total of $7,190, records showed.
Mamdani’s campaign has brought in $4 million in private donations, scored another $12.7 million in public matching funds, and with less than a month to go before election day, has nearly $6.1 million in hand.
Mamdani’s campaign promised to return any donations not in compliance with campaign financial laws.
You would think Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) would be all over this, considering his obsession with dark money.
Apparently, Mamdani returned the money from his new mother-in-law.
Among the biggest donors was James Furlaud, an environmental scientist at Australia’s University of Tasmania, who pledged $2,100 to the campaign. Furlaud studies the effects of climate change on forests and how it could lead to fires, according to his published academic work. He did not return a request for comment.
Ada Diaz Ahmed, who is described as a Dubai-based investor, donated $2,100 to the campaign in September, records show.
Jun-Dai Bates Kobashigawa, a software developer who lives in Montreal, Canada, donated $250 to the campaign in July. Kobashigawa, who works for GoDaddy, grew up in San Francisco, and attended Bard College in Dutchess County. He did not return a request for comment.
Ugur Macit, who lives in the town of Muhlheim am Main in Germany, also donated $250 to the Mamdani campaign in August. Macit is a software engineer who studied computer science at the University of Dusseldorf, according to public records. He could not be reached for comment.
Ahmed Enbya, a physician in Calgary, Canada, donated $100 to the campaign in September, filings show. He could not be reached for comment.
Remember, a US citizen overseas can donate to campaigns and PACs.
I doubt that returning the money will have any impact on Mamdani’s campaign. He will likely succeed and take down NYC with his socialist ways.
The law is the law. Why hasn’t anyone returned the rest of the money? How did his mother-in-law’s donation slip through? I highly doubt she kept silent about it from him.

Use RICO to permanently abolish the Democrat Crime cabal
Seize EVERY asset, especially the Marxist propaganda press
No other criminal enterprise would be left intact. MAGA and “Republicans” GROW A SET Democrats conspired with hostile foreign regimes to not only import as many CRIMINAL MIGRANTS AS POSSIBLE during the Kenyan’s 3rd term, they conspired to EMPTY PRISONS AND MENTAL INSTITUTIONS and FLY THOSE PEOPLE HERE in midnight flight sponsored by our traitors in the deep state. Destinations included HPN (Westchester NY)
This is the type of thing that DIRECTLY led to the rape/murder of Jocelyn Nungary, a 12 year old Texas girl, and countless others.
It’s unlikely the Democrat crime cabal could have disappeared the mountains of evidence associated with this facet of the Democrat crime cabal.
RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act) can apply to immigration crimes if they’re part of a pattern of racketeering activity conducted by an organized enterprise.
RICO targets ongoing criminal enterprises engaging in specific predicate offenses, like fraud, extortion, or trafficking. Some immigration-related crimes, such as visa fraud, human smuggling, or document trafficking, could qualify as predicate offenses if they meet RICO’s criteria: a structured group, repeated illegal acts over time, and an impact on interstate or foreign commerce. For example, a criminal organization systematically smuggling migrants or forging immigration documents for profit could face RICO charges.
However, standalone immigration violations, like illegal entry without an organized scheme, typically wouldn’t trigger RICO. Prosecutors must prove the enterprise’s structure and a pattern (at least two predicate acts within 10 years). Penalties include up to 20 years per racketeering count, fines, and asset forfeiture.
No surprise. In the socialist utopia the leaders can do anything and everything while you plebes will just eat the bugs.
Okay, but look at the bright side: the plebes’ bugs will be heavily subsidized at their local state-owned grocery stores. I’m sure the bugs will be available in chinese, italian, dominican, greek, etc. Sounds like a little Utopia for every taste. Now, THAT’S leadership!
Then they’ll have the u=pick bug section for all the roaches
The socialist/communist threat of Mamdani is a distraction from the real danger of the global intifada. After his election, we’ll see a surprising number of mosques appear out of nowhere, and calls to prayer blasting in the streets. Good bye NY.
This!
The camel is half in the tent now.
Mandan I is part of it.
He’s the ass of the camel/
Communists are crooks, what did you expect?
Politized thuggery.
Stalin got his big start in the Communist Party by robbing. Now… they use more “legal” means.
I, for one, am looking forward to his victory. I believe that it was Mencken was said that the people should get the government they deserve and they should get it good and hard.
The only problem I have with things is that I just can’t stop watching, and all this popcorn is getting fattening
Yeah, NYC is probably gonna provide the example for the electorate collectively getting what they choose good and hard. Gonna be a rough time in NYC.
Upvoted.
Re: Popcorn
Just skip the butter. (I know, popcorn is just an excuse to ingest butter. Like broccoli is just a carrier of melted cheese.)
Mmmmm, little green mops…
As much as a Mamdani win would help R’s electorally nationwide, flushing NY City seems a rather high price to pay.
We have too many Detroits already.
And not one city has ever recovered.
New York City will not recover either, but it is the explicit choice of those who chose to stay there.

And it never stays in one place.
Remember, Democrats, no one is above the law. Right?
Except DemoncRats.
The original post said:
“Violators who knowingly accept foreign donations could face hefty fines and imprisonment.”
So we can expect the NY State Attorney General to investigate, and then indict, arrest, jail, bail, prosecute, convict, and see convicted at any second now…
Oh, wait. That’s STILL Letitia James who is currently under indictment herself.
Never Mind™.
Zohran guilty of campaign finance fraud?
But, those donations are illegal, right? BOOK EM DANO. Ignorance of the law is no excuse.
Looking at the photo above,
would you buy a used car from that man?⁰
As a Muslim, Socialist who hates this country, Mamdani IS functionally above the law in New York. As he would be in Chicago, California, and any other Leftist held areas. There is no hope for New York City itself, The only hope is for those who move themselves, their families, and their businesses [including large corporations] to places where the rule of law and the Constitution hold.

The Democrat donation software has always been set to ignore where the money comes from. At times it was set to not verify the user either, just accept the donation.
I have long said that campaigns should be limited to accepting money from potential constituencies. In other words, US representatives are limited to accepting donations from people in their districts. Senators, their states, Mayors, city citizens, etc. Contributions are limited to people who can cast a vote for them.
If we limit contributions to only citizens, why not limit to only those who can vote for you?
It’s unconstitutional. Even barring foreign donations is only barely constitutional.
Surprise… not!
“Republicans Pounce at Contributions From Mandami’s Own Mommy”
Secretary Rubio should revoke his visa and deport him.
He’s a US citizen. No visa.
