President Donald Trump Receives Egypt’s Highest State Honor, the Order of the Nile
The honor is is traditionally awarded by presidential decree to figures whose efforts have offered exceptional service to Egypt or humanity.
As part of his current tour of the Middle East, President Donald Trump attended a summit of world leaders hosted by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sissi.
The Egyptian president told a summit of world leaders Monday that U.S. President Donald Trump’s Mideast proposal represents the “last chance” for peace in the region and reiterated his call for a two-state solution, saying Palestinians have the right to an independent state.
The summit in Egypt’s Red Sea resort town of Sharm el-Sheikh was aimed at supporting the ceasefire reached in Gaza, ending the Israel-Hamas war and developing a long-term vision for governing and rebuilding the devastated Palestinian territory.
Trump’s plan holds out the possibility of a Palestinian state, but only after a lengthy transition period in Gaza and a reform process by the internationally recognized Palestinian Authority. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu opposes Palestinian independence.
During his speech, El-Sissi also awarded Trump the Order of the Nile, the country’s highest state honor.
The Collar of the Nile, sometimes referred to as the Order of the Nile, is Egypt’s most prestigious decoration, symbolizing the unity of Upper and Lower Egypt through the life-giving Nile River. Made of gold and adorned with Pharaonic motifs and precious stones, it is traditionally awarded by presidential decree to heads of state and figures whose efforts have offered exceptional service to Egypt or humanity.
Past recipients include Nobel laureates Ahmed Zewail, Mohamed ElBaradei, and writer Naguib Mahfouz, as well as heart surgeon Magdi Yacoub and late President Anwar El-Sadat.
On the international front, honourees have included Queen Elizabeth II, King Hussein of Jordan, Emperor Haile Selassie, and India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who received the honour in June 2023.

This is a fascinating development, especially in light of the press-induced hysteria surrounding whether Trump would receive the Nobel Peace Prize. The Order of the Nile has an intriguing aspect, as those who receive this honor are saluted posthumously.

I wonder if the state of ny is going to glom onto it as part of Trump’s wealth they are trying to steal.
It’s not his personal property unless he chooses to pay market value for it. Stuff like this goes to the National Archives and will be part of his presidential library.
Wouldn’t stop them from sending an overvalued tax bill…with fines…because it’s past due from their back date.
Google agrees with you, but as ex-military i cant help but think of how its considered an insult to a foreign govt to not accept a medal or honor awarded to you personally.
In the end Trump’s won’t be selling this on eBay or melting it down for the gold – it’ll end up on display at his Presidential Library whether its officially his property or the archive’s either way.
(When it’s built and open a decade before the debacle of the Obama PL project.)
Being Richie Rich rich T may avoid the diplomatic problem by just paying the govt the gold value of the item.
Addendum – Apparently the Nobel Peace Prize is awarded by a foreign govt as well – a committee appointed by the Norwegian Parliament.
Obama received the award – for being elected – in 2009.
He dodged a legal bullet by donating the award moneys (140+ million) to charity.
However apparently he did not donate the medal to the Archive.
Now the value of a physical NPP when sold has ranged from 2 to 100 million dollars as well – depending on the historical popularity of it.
Being recent and O it should be more to the high end of that range.
Even if the govt only applies the value of the physical gold that’s likely $15-17,000.
Did Obama pay the govt anything so he could accept the award personally?
Nope.
Goose, gander guys.
The Nobel doesn’t award anywhere near 140 million. It’s more like $1.2 million USD.
Not so sure on that.
Gifts to the President are as you say.
But, this is an award, not a gift. There’s a difference.
Did Obama keep his Nobel? Yes. Did he pay any taxes on it? I’d bet he didn’t.
As opposed to their lowest honor:
The Order Of De Nile
…
…
I’ll go ahead and see myself out then.
That is given to Democrats primarily; or rather, they seem born with it.
‘O’…Beat me to it…given to every reprobate subversive or naysayer out there who never lifted a finger except to maintain the status quo…yet now are coming out of the woodwork ‘in support’ of this monumental hope for The Middle East in their pathetic attempt to remain relevant, or worse, give themselves credit. Best comment read this morning:
“Thus, He reveals His purpose for the man He spared at Butler.”
Led by the head of the UN, a completely irrelevant and worthless organization.
I have no objections, as long as the Secret Service vets the clASP.
As opposed to their lowest honor:
The Order Of De Nile
Or the award that Obama received: “the Jewel of the Nile”
“Trump is unpopular worldwide! The United States is a laughingstock!” Yeah, nah. The world loves President Trump and recognizes his strength. The world laughed at Biden when they weren’t pitying him.
Replace President Trump with demonrats and it all makes sense.
No one ever pitied Biden. You don’t pity someone who screws themselves over.
Good for him, and good on us for electing him (thrice).
And 🖕to the mindless drones who still hate on him in spite of his considerable accomplishments.
I’m surprised that’s even an emoji.
That one is OK, but not a pistol.
Had to be changed to a squirt gun or ray gun because reasons.
“Made of gold and adorned with Pharaonic motifs and precious stones”
Nyah nyah. Take THAT, you Nobel weenies and your casino token.
Best you the frothing progressives are going to make a big thing about the Pharaonic motifs while crying “No Kings”.
Eh. Pharoahs were god-kings, not just kings.
They still treated their subjects better than progressives want to treat us.
But they won’t take a single Gazan.
In fact, nobody will.
You may not believe it, but there is a reason for that.
All Augustus got was 20% of the pepper trade and all the grain.
I imagine Trump might keep the one that was actually awarded and buy a replica for his library. Or vice versa.
Democrats are also in De Nile.
