Zohran Mamdani Wins New York City Mayor Democratic Primary
Cuomo concedes, but dropped a slight hint at a possible independent run in the general election.

Welp. I publish the piece about the New York City mayoral Democratic primary and then disgraced former New York governor Andrew Cuomo conceded to socialist Zohran Mamdani.
The general election takes place November 4.
But it might be over for Cuomo. Maybe an independent run?
“We’re going to take a look, we’re going to make some decisions,” Cuomo told his supporters.
From The New York Post:
Andrew Cuomo told supporters on Tuesday it’s “not our night” as early first-round results showed Zohran Mamdani with a commanding lead.
“Tonight was not our night, tonight, it was Assemblyman Mamdani’s night,” Cuomo said, adding he called Mamdani to congratulate him.
—
“I want to applaud the assemblyman for a really smart and good and impactful campaign, Cuomo said of Zohran Mamdani. “Tonight is his night.
“He deserved it. He won,” Cuomo added in a unexpected concession from his watch party in Manhattan.
Cuomo also signaled that he may not be fully behind his independent bid in the November general election.
“The challenges we face are real and they deserve real consideration and I want to give some thought about the best way to help address them, the best way to help the party, but most of all, the best way to help the city,” Cuomo said.

If New Yorkers elect this screaming socialist as mayor, they need to stop making fun of Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana. We have better sense. Stupid is as stupid does and you can’t fix it.
.
This is how formerly “great” Britain fell.
Be warned.
I used to have no reason to ever go to NYC, but now I have negative reasons. Get in early for your smelly prayer rug!
I used to have to go to NYC in the pre-Giuliani days. I was surprised at how afraid New Yorkers were of being mugged, which I had thought was simply to be expected. Guess not! It was night and day once Giuliani took over. Now it will go back to night, with a little extra twist for delusional Jews!
My brain-dead, liberal compatriots. Many years ago I had taught my 4-year-old to complete the sentence: “Everybody in California is..” and he would complete the sentence: “dead from the neck up”. Well that now applies to NYC Democrats. And my compatriots had a lot of sway in this direction. and swayed the wrong way. YECCH!
Stupid is as stupid does…
NYC taking an early lead against other urban areas in the race to Trashcanistan status.
Take a look at Baltimore, Philadelphia, Newark, Camden, New Orleans…
Gary Indiana. Complete total wreck. It makes the lunar surface look civilized. Used to be one of the greatest industrial cities around. All the cities you named, if they continue to decline, will one day be Gary.
Pikers. Wrecking those cities took them decades. Muslims know how to wreck cities. Look how fast Khan ruined London.
At least they’re good at something.
Yes, but even worse, look at London and Paris. Once great cities are now Muslim socialist schlit holes.
And Marsay, Malmö, Stockholm…
a city of self-hating J in alliance with the leftist lunatics who hate them.
Wonderful. Idiotic new yorkers especially any jew that supported him. 1930s germany is repeating itself only this time driven by islamic antisemite invaders instead of native antisemite Germans,
A Super PAC backing Cuomo spent $24 million, much of it raised from Trump donors such as hedge fund manager Bill Ackman and real estate executive Steven Roth. That probably didn’t help any to be seen as aligned with Trump.
JR ripped another quote without attribution.
Another wet fart of a post.
Got any other useless contributions, Junior?
Almost didn’t mention you know who. The streak continues. Batting zero.
Cuomo is a mass murderer who should be in prison. The Moslem socialist is a raving lunatic. Our only hope is to elect Curtis Sliwa.
Eric Adams is also running as an independent and would have far better chances than Curtis Sliwa.
Let them burn it down. Don’t lift a finger to help them.
Remember the NYPost headline: President Ford to NYC: Drop Dead.
Minor point of correction: That was the NY Daily News, not the Post.
We’ll need to build a wall or series of barriers. Idiots will try to escape the city and bring their voting habits with them.
That’s what they claim happened to Ashley, NC.
That was my first instinct, too. But now I think we need to resist the hostile conquest of NYC to mooslime barbarians. I do not know what we can do to rescue NYC, but we cannot, should not willingly cede any bit of our country to people that want women and girls to wear black trash bags.
Cuomo: He deserved it. Same can be said about NYC. They deserved it and as it has been said before, they will get what they vote for. Gooder and Harder
U-Haul, PODS, and others’ logistics people are already setting up plans for staging plenty of trucks, pull-trailers, containers, pads, moving supplies, and other such things for the outflow expected within days after the general election.
Not so fast. This genius who has avoided work his whole life has pledged free childcare, free bus service, government grocery stores, rent freezes etc and to pay for it all he is going to tax corporations and the wealthy. I guess he has missed the part where both those groups have been fleeing NYC for years and it’s going to accelerate under his watch. Even the NYSE has floated moving to Dallas.
That “genius” will chalk that up to a victory.
Sweet victory would be for the NYSE to move to Dallas but keep the name New York Stock Exchange. Rub salt into the wound.
You know Letitia James would immediately bring a trademark suit on behalf of the city.
I do not know for sure if this is the NYSE’s move; but I have seen ads and logos for a Texas Stock Exchange [TXSE] coming in Dallas.
Subotai Bahadur
They get the government they elect and deserve.
I never thought I’d be rooting for Weic Adam’s independent campaign ( conveniently ignored by the left wing media so excited with their new box checker).
Tammany Hall rises from the ashes with nepotism, patronage and party loyalties deciding who gets civil servant jobs and city contracts…..
What a Sith Hole
The stupidity is horrifying. I live in NYC.
This twit is another empty suit, lazy, entitled, coddled, empty suit child of privilege, a la narcissist-incompetent-dunce, Obama. He’s studiously avoided any substantive private sector work or accomplishment.
Someone should ask the Islamofascist/Muslim supremacist why he thinks he’s qualified to run a major city, when he’s never held a private sector job of consequences.
Two empty suits, to underscore his shallowness.
Sharia starts with Islamophobia.
What a ludicrous take.
Problem is, NYC is THE city in America
And they trashed it
They have completely destroyed OUR city
Muslims making inroads where they have no business
9/11
9/11
9/11
Nah. NYC is ‘America’s City’ the same way the Dallas Cowboys are ‘America’s Team’….mostly in the minds of their public relations employees pushing a propaganda narrative that seeks to benefit their bosses.
Maybe they were 100 years ago…but not now. Not for a long time.
One hundred years ago they still had manufacturing jobs, amazing transportation infrastructure, movie and music studios, more GOOD entertainment venues than one could imagine. A truly amazing place.
The official death toll from the September 11, 2001 Islamofacist attack on America stands at 2,977 victims (this total excludes the 19 Islamofacist hijackers).
Comrade Bass in LA. Comrade Mamdani in NYC. Bookends in the USA. SMH
Unless they’ve already distributed the preferences, they don’t know how it’s going to come out. They’re just going on the first preferences, and assuming that Landers’s voters will have followed his recommendation to put Mamdani ahead of Cuomo; it remains to be seen whether they did.
If this is confirmed as the Dem result, then all the other candidates (Sliwa, Adams, Cuomo, and Walden) need to get together and take a long hard look at the numbers, and decide which three of them should withdraw from the race and give the fourth a clear run.
That would be unnecessary if the general election also used preferential voting. In that case they could each run the best campaign they’re able to, merely adding an exhortation to “put Mamdani last”. People could vote for their true choice, confident that there’s no such thing as a wasted vote. But unfortunately the general election uses the same unfair first-past-the-post system that most USA elections use, so NYC can’t afford to split the semi-sane vote.
Legit question. Can you briefly explain your opinion that first past the post is unfair for a general election when every candidate, political party, voter and political coalition operates under the same rule set? Sure the major parties have an advantage but aside from that.
It’s unfair because it forces supporters of minor candidates to vote against their interest for fear of wasting their votes, and thus automatically sabotages all minor candidates. And it’s unfair because it routinely elects people whom a majority of the voters oppose.
Preferential voting is the only system that guarantees no vote is wasted, so everyone is free to vote as they truly wish, which is surely the purpose of having elections in the first place. And it guarantees that no one can win an election without a majority of voters having said that if it comes down to the winner or the only viable alternative they’d rather have the winner.
Thanks for the answer. I still don’t see how substitution of ranked choice improves the position of minor candidates in any meaningful way. Nor how it improves on the situation we often face as voters of dissatisfaction with the slate of candidates and either staying home or choose the ‘lesser evil’. Unless we.gonna allow write in votes to conscript a person not on the ballot we’re stuck with the candidates.
It seems to me your beef isn’t first past the post but the party system itself where the two major parties dominate even in a State like NY with all.sorts of ballot access for other parties. In most of the rest of the Nation we have broader coalitions b/c the major parties are basically it other than in the infrequent instances where the libertarian or green manage to gain ballot access. Gotta keep the sore loser barriers though to preclude a defeated primary candidate from circumventing that system.
I’d suggest a few reforms. First no open primaries they should be restricted to voter registered with that party affiliation NLT Jan 10th of the year the primary is held. Second require 50%+1 to gain the nomination and win the general b/c it requires a majority coalition. Third any run off primary elections limited to voters who cast a ballot in the preceding primary. For general elections I’d argue to remove the ‘party lever’ to force voters to select individual candidates which helps mitigate major party advantage plus loosening up ballot access to getting signatures of 1% threshold of registered voters for the office and a 2% threshold of votes cast in last general election to maintain ballot access.
I might be convinced to agree to preferential vote using a different format. Do it like a top 25 football poll. So if five candidates then each voter has the ability to rank them 1-5 most preferred to least. Points assigned with 5 to first place down to 1 for 5th place. Voter can also choose zero points for 2-5, no requirement to assist less preferred candidates. This gives each candidate a point total and whichever has the highest points wins. This process gives an assist to minor candidates while keeping the process to a single round of tallying.
The problem with a preferential voting system is that it forces a jurisdiction to often rely on multi-party governing coalitions, which are often unstable. Israel is a good example of that. Interestingly, Italy used to be notorious for it but is much more stable now.
I suspect runoff elections have the same effect, possibly with more reliable results.
Another way to define socialism is an economic system whereby people who cannot and will not produce those goods and services for themselves demanding those goods and services from those who produce at no cost.
Of course, the world doesn’t work that way.
Socialism is an economic system that does not work.
Islam is not a religion but rather a manner in which to control people by force. Believe what we tell you or have your head removed.
No one who believes in either system has any place in a free society. They are the destroyers.
You know, every day that goes by Ayn Rand makes more and more sense. She took her experience under communism and used it to imagine its logical conclusion – the current Democrat party.
Islam controls the person’s entire life.
For example, you need to use your left foot to enter the bathroom.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamic_toilet_etiquette
And your left thumb to leave it?
“socialism is an economic system whereby people who cannot and will not produce those goods and services for themselves demanding those goods and services from those who produce at no cost. Of course, the world doesn’t work that way.”
Ironic that this article occurs right next to:
“Pennsylvania Saves “Clean Energy” Maryland from Spanish-Style Blackout during “Heat Dome””
Looks like the world does work that way when parasites gain enough power.
“”Another way to define socialism is an economic system whereby people who cannot and will not produce those goods and services for themselves demanding those goods and services from those who produce at no cost.””
I suppose you could, but Marx defined that as “communism”. “”From each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs.””
Communists will run 3 of the 4 largest cities in the US if this clown wins.
Unbelievable. If money doesn’t vote with its feet, money deserves everything it’s going to get.
This is what happens when voters become apathetic. There are roughly 6M* US citizens 18 and older in NY City. Less than 1M of them voted in yesterday’s election.
*it could be a little less than that because I’m skeptical of the state government claim that 85% of NY residents are US citizens.
For some mysterious reason known only to the LI Gods, I have a comment stuck in moderation about how certain demographics voted. The point I was making is Cuomo did very, very well with voters who are making less than $50K whereas Mamdami’s best group was voters making MORE than $100K.
A statistic that was mentioned by a former Bronx resident on Fox Business earlier.
The exit polls are absolutely fascinating. Cuomo WON voters making $100K by 14-points.
The most immediate enemy isn’t Russia, not Iran (mostly), not even China. It’s academia. The ‘better’ educated you are, the more likely you are to embrace full-on Communism. (those making >$100K are almost certainly ‘better’ educated than those making <$50K.)
Credentialed, maybe. Educated? Not really.
Yes, exactly.
Oops, that was a typo. Cuomo won voters making LESS THAN $100K by 14-points. Counterintuitively, Mamdani won the voter making the most most by a significant margin. ‘Education’ is the only thing I can think of that might explain it…but, I’m just guessing.
A poll I saw but forget the authority showed white, college educated WOMEN as being complete outliers, way over in the progressive side, if II recall correctly a good 30 points further along than any other group of white voters. What does that say about women and what does it say about college educations? (1) Women are more obedient and easily lead. (2) Current college education is spread so widely over the population, that there are neither professors nor administrators capable of teaching in the classical manner. They are all second rate … as the students themselves probably are!
Can the Big Rotten Apple be a worse place to live?
Tune in next year.
“Pretend it’s a city.”
Bob “Snake” Plissken will have his work cut out for him.
Oh well, I went there once, in late 1989, with my wife to see Cats at the Wintergarden. It was cold. And the sidewalks were piled with garbage bags. But we had front row seats. That part was cool.
New Yorkers seem tired of digging with shovels and now want to use an excavator.
No voting system can satisfy ALL of the criteria that one would posit are essential to a fair system. Kenneth Arrow’s “Impossibly Theorem.” Hochul could remove the mayor on any pretextual charge if the major banks announced that if this person gets elected, they are all leaving New York.
> Hochul could remove the mayor on any pretextual charge if the major banks announced that if this person gets elected, they are all leaving New York.
Its more complicated than that, the removed official is entitled to a hearing.
GOOD! The more blue cities that go bankrupt or turn into hell-holes, the more idiots who vote them in will suffer. It’s perfect justice for your city to go bankrupt and become a high-crime zone because instead voting for politicians that enact policies that work, you vote for DEI idiots who keep doing it wrong while expecting different results.
I wish it worked that way but that is not what happens. The big failed cities produce many radicals who then move on to successful cities and rile up the underclasses to vote against good government. The younger generations have been taught that Socialism is good and capitalism is bad. Couple that with Islam and you have an incurable cancer. Think of failed cities as breeding grounds for terrorists and anti-American protestors.
Our formerly greatest city. Gotham. Says it all, 12 years ago of all the candidates Anthony “Carlos Danger” Weiner sucked the least.
And he was a child predator.
I had to search real hard to get the popular vote results.
Most NYC voters wanted someone else than the winner.
The ranked voting process is pure evil.
What an idiotic move NYers have made. How far they have fallen from the world’s greatest city to a complete joke. This is the city of 9/11, just 24 years later electing a terrorist sympathizer, apologist and supporter. I bet he’s going to explain to us how the 9/11 attacks were just like the Boston tea party. Just a struggle for freedom against an oppressive colonial power! Long live the intifada, new york.
I was born in SoCal in the late 50s and never have been to NYC except for the airport and my wife was born in NorCal in the late 50s. We have only been to the airport in NYC but if this guy wins as Mayor the city is doomed.
We now live in the south due to business moving me and my family almost 30 years ago and it is hard to see what happened to California, The people of NY have to be seeing what has happened to their state and major cities with the same feeling me and my wife have when we look at California.
I just watched a TikTok video of a lady telling what has happened in the UK and it is terrifing. 13 of the largest cities now have Muslim mayors. Mohammed is now the most popular name in GB. 78% of Muslim women do not work but receive total benefits packages. 63% of all Muslims in GB do not work but receive all benefits. Muslims are 4 milliom in a 66 million population and they produce more children than domestic people. This is how the get footholds in countries because most large cities are failing and the intelligent folks leave and only the poor and needy remain. They vote for free stuff and the loss of police services. Say hello and goodbye to NYC.
since london is the new middle east
nyc is playing catch up
blmplo are the new police force there
good luck
I see some Jewish organizations are already advising Jews to get out of New York.
My concern is that the citizens of these blue states will flee to red state, and import their failing policies
When Texans were pointing that out about Californians, some people hre got really huffy.
Cuomo did VERY well in the neighborhoods that had the heaviest concentrations of blacks & Latinos. Mamdani did much better with Asians….I have been saying for a long time, Asians are the most liberal demographic in the country. To a very large degree, they’re the Demographic that is turning metro/suburban Atlanta blue, not Latinos.
https://x.com/SteveKornacki/status/1937932336164647397
Mamdani apparently did very well in white neighborhoods that are full of transplants. But, I don’t know enough about NYC to know if that’s true. It does seem like Cuomo did do pretty well in areas that have long been ethnically white, like Staten Island.
“Asians” is a very wide net/term used these days
from indai/paki?
koreans chinese viets etc….
the point there being the left loves to now use that wide casting net to increase their victimhood/voting gangs when they include “asians as poc
That’s true. “Asian’ paints with a very broad brush. I think Koreans tend to be the outlier, more conservative than many other ethnicities that are labeled ‘Asian.’ Chinese, Pakistani, many (but not all) of the groups from southeast Asia tend to be more politically liberal. Here in Atlanta, it’s mainly Chinese, Pakistanis and particularly Indians who are really bluing the northern suburbs. I can only presume a similar dynamic is playing out in NYC.
the bluing of suburbs especially via this bulllllsh “affordable housing” victim hood scheme is going to get us
Agreed on wide net to gather contestants for the d/prog diversity olympics
Europe is West of the Bosporus Straits and Asia is to the East. IMO many In the USA don’t appreciate this b/c we’re a continental Nation with a long Pacific coastline and Island possessions in the Pacific. Our schoolhouse geography lessons are USA centric so in our view Asia begins at the India/China Border. This also causes misconception about Russia which is in many ways far more Asian in outlook than European.
ranked choice voting DESTROYS the one vote one candidate civility agenda
the dems of course using the ( ironically) we are saving money by doing the rcv …is pure political double talk
saving money as they phrase it when in reality it once again gives rise to a tribalistic agenda of mob rules …where more options open up to manipulate votes and take days to give the results
one person one vote all votes counted by machines solves the issues
and while legit problems can and do occur within even THAT …at least the sanctity of a civilized one person one vote agenda remains intact and lessons the opportunity for corruption …chads hanging be damned
Elect scumbags to office, expect scumbag results.
I hope when he starts putting up gov groceries they’re so expensive ny’ers end up paying three weeks worth of wages just for cheese and crackers.
But 4fun, we still gotta live here; not everyone is mobile enough to just skedaddle!
best results
HE WINS AND IMPLEMENTS EVERY SINGLE ONE OF HIS GOALS
What’s the matter with you people? How stupid can you get?!! Welcome to Newyorkistan.
