Vanderbilt U. Medical Center Planning to Lay Off Hundreds Before End of Fiscal Year

“will have to reduce its operating costs by more than $300 million”

How many diversity administrators are there at the center? Maybe start there.

WSMV News reports:

Vanderbilt University Medical Center to lay off hundreds before end of fiscal year

Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is expected to lay off up to 650 of its workforce as it nears the end of its fiscal year on June 30.

The layoffs come after VUMC said it will have to reduce its operating costs by more than $300 million.

Sources told WSMV, those affected mostly include administrative and other support areas.

VUMC said they will continue to hire clinical staff such as doctors, nurses, care partners and surgical technicians to open the Jim Ayers Tower in the fall of 2025.

Those affected will be notified over the next several days.

I wonder what kind of mismanagement led to such a huge crisis. I’m sure they suffer from administrative bloat and DEI nonsense like most big universities, but they can’t possibly amount to 650 useless drones. Can they?

Oh yeah! Vandy has always had rampant lefty infestation.

Sure they can. Remember, when leftists infiltrate an institution, they work to create positions so more of them can get in on the grift. And then those continue the work, and so on, until the institution survives only on government subsidies.

(When the institution in question is the government, it’s a special case).

That’s when the self-licking ice cream cone’s tongue is made out of ice cream.

There’s no indication that the people who are being fired are “in on the grift”. I think that they haven’t completely eliminated all the DEI department workers, and unfortunately, they’re eliminating needed positions.

VUMC and VU are separate legal entities. They separated in 2016. So this affects the medical center only. The CEO of VUMC makes more than $7,000,000 a year. No signs that he’s giving up any of his salary to help out.

They’re claiming that this is due to “cuts in Medicaid”. VUMC only takes Medicaid for pediatric patients, not adult patients. So if the only cuts to Medicaid are to eliminate waste and remove people who aren’t entitled to it, and if that’s affecting VUMC’s revenue, then it would appear that VUMC has been on the receiving end of waste and fraud.

VUMC’s problems are directly due to mismanagement and overconfidence that it would attract research funding with high overhead coverage like NIH grants allow. They also got caught up in political mayhem and are paying the price for it. No empathy from this doc! They are a cesspool of DEI!
