Israel Eliminates Nine Top Iranian Nuclear Weapons Scientists, Throwing the Regime’s Nuclear Program into Disarray

The IDF: “Their elimination represents a significant blow to the Iranian regime’s ability to acquire weapons of mass destruction.”

With the Friday morning strike, the Israeli Air Force (IAF) not only wiped out most of Iran’s top military command and dealt a devastating blow to the regime’s nuclear weapons program, it also eliminated several leading nuclear scientists behind the rogue program.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) “eliminated nine senior scientists and experts in the Iranian nuclear project,” the Israeli military said in a statement Saturday. “The individuals who were eliminated played a central part of the progress toward nuclear weapons. Their elimination represents a significant blow to the Iranian regime’s ability to acquire weapons of mass destruction.”

Iranian state media acknowledged the killing of some of the leading nuclear scientists. “Iran confirmed that Fereydon Abbasi, former head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, was eliminated in the Israeli attack,” the Israeli news website Ynetnews reported. “They also announced the elimination of nuclear scientists Mohammad Mahdi Tehranchi and Fereydoon Abbasi.”

Top Iranian nuclear scientists were taken out in simultaneous strikes on multiple targets. “Yesterday, IAF fighter jets, guided by the Intelligence Directorate, simultaneously struck dozens of targets across Iran as part of a large-scale opening salvo of the operation,” the Israeli military declared.

The IDF released the names of the slain scientists and their roles in the Iranian nuclear weapons program:

Their elimination is seen as a major setback to Tehran’s nuclear ambitions. “All of the eliminated scientists and experts served as significant knowledge centers in the Iranian nuclear project and possessed decades of accumulated experience in the development of nuclear weapons,” the IDF assured.

IDF achieves ‘aerial superiority’ over western Iran, targets air defense system around Tehran

As the Operation “Rising Lion” entered its second day, the Israeli pilots had taken command of the skies over Iran.

The Israeli Air Force “has established aerial superiority from western Iran to Tehran,” the IDF military declared Saturday. Israeli fighter jets were targeting Iranian surface-to-surface missile launchers and air defense systems around Tehran, the IDF declared.

“These strikes carry operational and national significance. We damaged – and will continue to damage – strategic sites and enemy sources of knowledge,” the chief of the Israeli Air Force, Maj. General Tomer Bar said in a statement released Saturday. “After an active day in which we struck hundreds of targets, including dozens of surface-to-air targets, we conducted a series of precise strikes of operational and national significance which improved our aerial superiority and our freedom of activity in Iran.”

In keeping with the Air Force chief’s remarks, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, on Saturday, declared that “[i]n the very near future you will see Israeli Air Force jets over the skies of Tehran – we will strike every site and every target of the ayatollahs’ regime.”

The Iranian air defenses, including advanced systems supplied by Russia, were among the key targets of the ongoing Israeli air offensive. “Overnight, the IAF struck dozens of targets, including surface-to-air missile infrastructure, as part of the effort to damage the Iranian Regime’s aerial defense capabilities in the area of Tehran,” the statement added.

Three Israeli civilians killed, 150 injured as Iran fires around 1oo ballistic missiles overnight

Unable to counter the IDF’s aerial offensive, the Iranian regime fired nearly 100 ballistic missiles aimed at Israeli towns and cities. The Israeli TV channel i24NEWS reported that “close to 100 ballistic missiles were fired in two waves directly from Iranian territory, marking one of the most significant escalations between the two countries in recent years.”

“The main targets were highly populated areas, including Tel Aviv, Ramat Gan, and Rishon Lezion. Sirens also sounded in other parts of the country as additional rockets triggered nationwide alerts,” the broadcaster observed.

Overnight, three civilians were reported killed and over 150 others injured as a barrage of Iranian missiles landed on Israeli population centers. “An Israeli woman who was critically wounded by Iranian missiles succumbed to her wounds early Saturday morning, and another two were killed after a direct hit in a residential neighborhood in Israel’s central district,” the Jerusalem Post reported. “Over 150 people were wounded overall in the Iranian missile barrages, according to official statements from numerous Israeli hospitals.”

Besides countering long-range Iranian missiles, the Israeli Air Force and Navy were intercepting Iranian drones approaching the country’s airspace, Israeli media reports confirm.

Khamenei’s IRGC-linked top adviser killed in Israeli strike

Iranian tyrant Khamenei’s senior adviser and former IRGC terror operative, Ali Shamkhani, was reported killed in a recent Israeli airstrike.

“A senior adviser to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Ali Shamkhani, has died of wounds sustained in Israel’s initial airstrikes,” The Times of Israel reported quoting Iranian state media.

The slain apparatchik had a long association with the Islamic Guard terrorist organization. CNN observed thar he “served as the country’s top national security official for a decade from 2013, and before that served in a number of important roles, including in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the ministry of defense.”

Good start, but I want to see reports that the mullahs have been vaporized. Iran will not dig out of their hole until that happens.

Keep it up Israel.

After eliminating all top scientists and generals, they need to move on to eliminate all the rocket launcher people.

Hmmm. Hmmmm. Checking.

Nope. Sympathy reads ‘zero’. Or it’s broke, I can’t tell.

I heard on TV that Iran is thought to have about 2,000 of these ballistic missiles. This is just from 100. Israel better hope they can kill the political leaders and get regime change or this could get very messy.

Well they blew some up on the ground and there were 4 waves of missiles so more than a 100 I think but I don’t know how many. They also blew up some launchers. However, in general you’re correct. It could get messy.

I wonder why we haven’t heard anything about iron beam or it’s little brother. I realize it is still under development but a field test at this point wouldn’t be a bad idea.

Where are these missiles stored? Surely the IDF can destroy them on the ground, before they are launched.

    Paula in reply to jb4. | June 14, 2025 at 5:17 pm

They have thousands of missiles but probably not thousands of launchers.

My thoughts are with the Iranian-in-the-street. I hope that – should they rise up – that they succeed.

“I am become death” revisited.

Israel can only rest when all the mullahs and other bad actors are dead, buried and on their way to hell.

While the images out of Israel look grim, understandably so, it’s important to keep in mind we’re really only seeing the BDA televised in real time from one side of the conflict. Yes, Iran still obviously has the capability to launch barrages several times a day and in secession. But, IAF seems close to reaching Air Dominance, if they’re not there already. As launch positions are triangulated and ordnance delivered upon those locations, these barrages will ebb and eventually stop. The biggest operational objective (beyond stopping the barrages) is completely eliminating Fordow, the nuclear site built into the mountain near Qom. If Iran has any operational nukes, or the parts for one, that’s where they’ll be.

Part of me is also thinking that if Iran could have levelled half of Israel with ballistic missiles they would have done so already.

That doesn’t seem to be the case here. I’m assuming Israel’s planning would also have included dealing with Irans ballistic misiles on the ground and perhaps we are seeing the result of that planning given the limited nature of those attacks and the fact Iran hasn’t levelled half of of Israel?

Also, no Hamas or Hesbullah intervention.

And to think. We have Hamas to thank for all of this 😂

I wonder what this will do to life insurance premiums for Iranian nuclear scientists.

From a WhatsApp group for retired Anglo olim: From an IGNO group member: _A message shared today with my friends son’s unit. So well said and important understanding of what has just historically taken place in the last 12 hours and why._

Israel has just crossed the point of no return — and entered a new era.

The second round of Israeli fighter jets are flying over the skies of Iran right now continuing with the attack to destroy their nuclear military infrastructure and take out the senior military and nuclear leaders of the Islamic regime.

This is the time for the people of Iran to rise up and overthrow the oppressive Islamic regime! While the leaders of the “enlightened” Western world likes to talk about dignity, human rights and equality, they did nothing for decades to help the persecuted Iranian people, and instead did big business with the Islamic regime, empowering it, and screwing the people of Iran.

As for us. The Jewish state, under the leadership of Prime Minister Netanyahu and the extraordinary courage of our IDF warriors, has done what no one else dared: we struck Iran, hard. We didn’t just talk. We didn’t beg the world for help. We didn’t wait for permission. We acted.

Because the time had come. We had no choice. And we’ve finally remembered who we are.

As IDF Chief of Staff Zamir declared, “We launched the offensive because the time had come. We’ve reached the point of no return. We cannot wait for another window of action — we have no choice. Distant and recent history has taught us that when facing ambitions to destroy us, we must never bow our heads. And from that, we fight to preserve our existence. Freedom is granted to those willing to fight for it.”

Let those words sink in. This is not just a military strike. This is a spiritual moment. A national moment. A historic moment. One of the most significant since the founding of the State of Israel.

We are witnessing history in the making — and not the kind written by the media or manipulated by global powers. This is Jewish history. The kind our grandchildren will study in the generations to come.

With this strike on Iran, we are not only delivering a direct blow to the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism — we are also sounding the death knell for Hamas in Gaza. The equation is simple: no Iran, no Hamas. No lifeline, no war. This is what victory looks like. And this is why I say without hesitation: we are the generation of victory.

But what makes this moment even more remarkable is what led up to it.

Headlines were about Netanyahu vacationing in the North.

Trump’s warnings not to strike.

News about the upcoming talks on Sunday between Iran and Witkoff.

All of it was part of the plan.
Deception. Compartmentalization. Precision.
Some say that even most of the IDF was kept in the dark. Only a tiny, trusted circle knew the truth.

That’s how serious this operation was.

While the world was focused on headlines and optics, Israel was preparing one of the most sophisticated, daring, and morally justified military campaigns in modern history.

We struck radar systems. We hit missile production sites.
We targeted nuclear scientists — while they were still sleeping in their beds.
We went after the IRGC and senior regime officials.
And yes — we are striking their nuclear facilities.

This wasn’t just a message. It was a mission. One we’ve been preparing for over two decades. Netanyahu has been sounding the alarm on Iran since before most of today’s “experts” ever heard of the JCPOA. He risked everything — even Israel’s relationship with the Obama administration — to speak before Congress and tell the world the truth.

And now, his words are becoming action.

As he just said:
“We have no choice but to act quickly. If we don’t act now, we simply won’t be here. Never again is now. We have internalized the lessons of history. When the enemy says it intends to destroy you, believe it. To the Iranian people: The day of your liberation from tyranny is closer than ever.”

This is the clarity we’ve been praying for. This is the resolve we’ve been begging for.
And while there will be difficult days ahead — with Iran likely retaliating with missiles, UAVs, and attacks on strategic infrastructure — we are ready. We are united. And we are not alone.

As the Trump administration said loud and clear:
“You will be alone — but not isolated.”

Let that be a message to every Jew, to every supporter of truth and freedom:
You may feel like you’re standing alone. But you are not isolated. You are part of something greater. A nation with a calling. A people with a purpose.

To the world: we are done apologizing for defending ourselves.
To our enemies: you made a grave mistake waking the sleeping lion.
To our children: we are doing this so you can live free, without bomb shelters and rocket drills.
And to our fallen: we will not stop until the mission is complete — and your sacrifice is honored with victory.

This is our time.

This is a new era of Jews.

We will defeat the Islamic regime of Iran and finally eliminate the head of the global jihadi serpent.

We will remain in Gaza forever to protect our people in our ancestral land.

We will implement President Trump’s emigration plan for those in Gaza who do not accept our right to exist.

And when the Shiite threat of Iran collapses, and the Qatari led Sunni jihadi axis begins to rise in its place, we will stand firm — holding the line not only in Gaza but in Northern Israel, in the territories of southern Lebanon and Syria. We are not retreating ever again. Not from our land. Not from our mission. Not from our future.

Because Israel is not just another country. Israel is the only country in the history of the world to destroy the nuclear weapons programs of three different enemy nations — Iraq, Syria, and now Iran.

We are the frontline against the red-green alliance out to destroy the whole freedom-loving world in the name of Allah.

We are the tip of the spear confronting Islamonazi evil.

We are the shield of the freedom-loving world.

The world may not always stand with us — but we will always stand for them. And with patience, unwavering belief in God, and deep confidence in ourselves, we will prevail.

Am Yisrael Chai — and we mean it.
