Democrats Want to Unmask ICE Agents But Not Anti-Israel Campus Protesters

Democrats Want to Unmask ICE Agents But Not Anti-Israel Campus Protesters

“every single one of them, no matter what it takes, no matter how long it takes, will, of course, be identified”

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) and other Democratic figures are calling for the exposure of ICE agents, demanding that their masks be removed so they can be identified. Members of ICE wear masks because they are facing death threats against them and their families. Democrats are putting their lives at risk over this.

Of course, Democrats have never called for members of Antifa or the anti-Israel campus radicals to be unmasked. Curious, isn’t it?

From the Daily Wire:

Jeffries seemed unconcerned with the real reason that ICE agents had opted to cover their faces, and instead claimed that their efforts to enforce federal immigration law were “engaged in … aggressive overreach” and suggested the masks were simply an effort to avoid being held accountable for that.

“Every single ICE agent who’s engaged in this aggressive overreach and are trying to hide their identities from the American people will be unsuccessful in doing that,” Jeffries said. “This is America. This is not the Soviet Union. We’re not behind the Iron Curtain. This is not the 1930s. And every single one of them, no matter what it takes, no matter how long it takes, will, of course, be identified.”

See the video below:

Boston Mayor Michelle Wu is pushing the same garbage narrative.

From FOX 25 Boston:

Boston Police don’t wear masks, neo-Nazi group does, Wu says in talking about masked federal agents

Boston Mayor Michelle Wu volleyed additional criticism against federal law enforcement on Wednesday while speaking about masks worn by federal officers who are enforcing immigration laws.

Acting Director Todd Lyons and U.S. Attorney Leah Foley said this week that federal agents and officers have been “doxed” on social media, and sometimes wear masks while on duty and making immigration arrests after officers, and their families, have received death threats.

In a recent interview with WBUR, Wu likened ICE immigration officers to “secret police.”

Foley, in a video message on social media Wednesday morning, condemned Wu’s comments, calling them “reckless and inflammatory statements.” The U.S. Attorney again cited the increasing threats faced by federal law enforcement in doing their job.

It didn’t end there.

Wu, when asked later Wednesday about Foley’s remarks and while discussing masks worn by some law enforcement, brought up the prominent New England neo-Nazi group Nationalist Social Club, also known as NSC-131.

Go back and look at our extensive coverage of anti-Israel protesters on college campuses over the last two years. You know what you’ll find they all have in common? All of the protesters are wearing masks.

Democrats have never called for them to be unmasked. That tells you everything you need to know.

Call the HoR Minority Leader bluff, send a standalone bill to outlaw wearing of masks or the ‘antifa chic’ combo of hoodie/hat/sunglasses that obscures the neck, head, face profiles in public. Put it into Federal Law as an enforceable offense with fines and prison time or be quiet.

The problem is that such laws (which were common when the Klan was big 100 years ago) run into first amendment obstacles. They can be upheld, but only if they’re very carefully designed.

Many States retained them and enforce them without issue. During the height of Covid mania most States created a waiver or simply used prosecutorial discretion to defer/decline enforcement. A handful of States the repealed their mask laws but some of those States which repealed them are seeing a dramatic spike in crime from masked criminals. IMO there’s plenty of public policy interest present to override any 1A concerns.

Actually, states can make their own laws, but if it’s a federal criminal issue, the state law has nothing to say. Make it a federal crime and the USAG gets to decide.

Which is my initial point. The d/prog Congressional leaders are claiming ‘masks = bad’ so…make them vote on imposing a Federal statute to ban them. FWIW Rep Jeffries is from NY which killed their State mask ban. He and most other d/prog officials don’t really oppose ‘masks’ to conceal identity otherwise they would have opposed the repeal of anti Klan mask laws within their own States. They would go berserk if there was a Federal statute proposed to ban them precisely b/c it would preempt their own preferences at the State level.

Is attempted intimidation of LE officials and officers a federal crime?
Asking to see if Milhouse will come out of retirement.
(Seriously, he could be stubborn, but so can I. I appreciated many of his comments, and said so more than once, even while disagree with him. I made me sharpen some of my own thoughts.)

It can be, but defining a law against it without running into the first amendment is difficult. You have to draw the line very carefully to avoid that.

So far everything that Jeffries and Wu are quoted as having said is protected speech (quite apart from Jeffries’s immunity for anything he says in the course of his job as a representative, which includes rallies and the like).

I’m not in retirement yet, but I may soon be. Commenting here, and putting up with the awful nasty people (not you) who are not interested in the truth and just want to outdo antifa in their evil, is eating away not only at my time but also at my energy to do anything else, so I think I will soon need a break. Not sure when or for how long.

I have been rather harshly critical at times, but I see now that you are just being very consistent about advocating certain ideological principles over practicalities. Still don’t like it when you state opinions as facts but I must admit that I do that sometimes as well. But often you do make some good points which should be respectfully acknowledged, and thus I appreciate the opportunity to examine my own intolerance.

Milhouse is right…. however there are judicial and extra-judicial forces in tension. Jeffries is playing his game in the “legal” side knowing that he can’t be held accountable for stochastic violence that it can foster. That said… the extra-judicial street goes both ways and what he unleashes may create a world of blowback. What one sows they can reap. I hope he understands that.

Very bight laser pointers are now cheap. People like Wu should start have red dots on them, give them a taste of that.

Yes, this should be a great vote-getting tactic for Dems.

wonder how the men who stormed the beaches at normandy eighty-0ne years ago today would would feel about a speech like this from some turd “minority leader” in congress–inciting violence, inciting division, tacitly endorsing the unlawful presence of illegal aliens in our country

Once upon a time there was such a thing as a “loyal opposition” that contributed meaningfully to discussions by articulating issues from different perspectives. Jeffries and Wu do not serve this purpose because they are just ideological parrots in service only to advance the delusions necessary to maintain political control over a diminishing faction of people who refuse to respect other points of view.

Publishing the sensitive information on Jeffries family and staff seems like a measured and fair response to his actions to me.
