Media Suddenly Skeptical of Refugees After Reports of Impending Arrival of White South African Farmers

Mainstream media reporters are nothing if not a predictable lot, and that is certainly playing out in their “reporting” on what looks to be the impending arrival of the first group of South African refugees to the United States in the coming days.
Many news outlets dripped with disdain over President Donald Trump’s insistence on providing the white South African farmers who reportedly have faced racial discrimination, including land seizure, violence, and murder, a safe haven in America, three months after the “Addressing Egregious Actions of the Republic of South Africa” executive order he signed that directed the following:
Sec. 3. Assistance. (a) All executive departments and agencies (agencies), including the United States Agency for International Development, shall, to the maximum extent allowed by law, halt foreign aid or assistance delivered or provided to South Africa, and shall promptly exercise all available authorities and discretion to halt such aid or assistance.
(b) The head of each agency may permit the provision of any such foreign aid or assistance that, in the discretion of the relevant agency head, is necessary or appropriate.Sec. 4. Refugee Resettlement and Other Humanitarian Considerations. The Secretary of State and the Secretary of Homeland Security shall take appropriate steps, consistent with law, to prioritize humanitarian relief, including admission and resettlement through the United States Refugee Admissions Program, for Afrikaners in South Africa who are victims of unjust racial discrimination. Such plan shall be submitted to the President through the Assistant to the President and Homeland Security Advisor.

CBS News, for instance, framed their story on the refugees’ upcoming arrival this way:
The hastily arranged initiative to welcome Afrikaners stands in stark contrast to the Trump administration’s move to ban most other refugees from entering the U.S.
One of Mr. Trump’s first actions after returning to the White House was suspending the American refugee admissions program, stranding thousands of approved refugees who had been identified as vulnerable individuals fleeing violence and persecution in Africa, Asia and other parts of the world.

The processing of Afrikaners granted refugee status has also been unusually fast. Before Mr. Trump’s second term, the State Department said the refugee process, on average, took between 18 to 24 months to complete due to background checks, medical screenings and other interviews. The Afrikaners ready to travel to the U.S. have gone through that process in a matter of months or even weeks.
New York Times chief White House correspondent Peter Baker, husband of anti-Trump, far-left New Yorker staff writer Susan Glasser, sneered in a tweet that referenced a Washington Post article on the issue, and which carried the headline “Trump shut out refugees but is making White South Africans an exception”:

Guess it makes a difference if U.S. has open arms when people are fully documented and ready to go through Customs. My 6th great grandfather came in 1714 and the ship from the Netherlands first docked at a port on southwest England where everyone (and cargo) went through customs before ever crossing the Atlantic.

There were no immigration rules at all. Neither UK nor the American colonies had any. Anyone at all could arrive, and land anywhere they liked. Of course they had to pay any duties applicable to any goods they were carrying, but that was all.
I was on a river cruise in 2013 that was mostly composed of Australians. There was a South African farmer couple there, too, He wqas of Portugese descent and his fdamily had been there for 300 years.
