Marco Rubio Schools Rep. Pramila Jayapal on Student Visas in Testy Exchange
“We are going to revoke the visa of anyone who’s in the country as a guest who’s here to stir up trouble.”

Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke before the House Foreign Affairs Committee on Wednesday and had a fiery exchange with Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) over the Tufts University student who was arrested by federal agents in March and later freed by a judge.
In her hectoring of Rubio, Jayapal repeatedly claims that the only thing this student did was write an op-ed for the Tufts student newspaper, but that’s simply not true. She expressed support for Hamas and engaged in activities showing support for Hamas, a terrorist organization.
Democrats are desperate to turn this into an argument about the First Amendment and free speech, which it isn’t. Also, where have all these progressives been over the years as left wing college students shouted down one conservative campus speaker after another?
Rubio pushed back on every one of her statements. He has made the Trump administration’s position on the issue of revoking student visas quite clear. We’re no longer putting up with fanaticism from foreign students who are guests in our country.
Bonchie of RedState provides a partial transcript:
RUBIO: She was a guest in the United States on a student visa. No one is entitled to a student visa. We deny visas every day, and we will revoke and consider revoking visas.
JAYAPAL: You revoked her student visa based on an op-ed, which trumps the supreme law of the land, which is the Constitution.
RUBIO: If someone is coming here to stir up problems on our campuses, we’re going to revoke their visa.
JAYAPAL: She didn’t do any of that. She wrote an op-ed. She wrote an op-ed, and I’m talking to you about her particular case.
RUBIO: That’s her lawyer’s claims and your claims. Those are not the facts.
JAYAPAL: Reclaiming my time. You revoked her student visa because she wrote an op-ed.
RUBIO: Yes, proudly…
JAYAPAL: Would you revoke…
RUBIO: And we’re going to do more for them. We are going to revoke the visa of anyone who’s in the country as a guest who’s here to stir up trouble.
JAYAPAL: Are you going to revoke the visa of somebody who made that statement (crosstalk)?
RUBIO: I’m looking to get crazy people out of our country.

Never thought I’d say this, but…
…I’m pleasantly surprised with Marco Rubio

Jayapal’s position might be stronger if the left had stood up for free speech on campus just once over the last decade. Rubio’s position is rock solid. No foreign students have a ‘right’ to be in the United States, and rotten guests will be shown the door.

its a war that the left wants to take to the streets as they are 10000% in charge of the streets
until they arent
I used to be in favor of (non-Muslim) immigration from India. No longer. If its not H1b abuse its the actions of frustrated Brahmin indian women like Jayapal. Socialist to the core and lacking American values you will find them desiring and obtaining the power to control people that they could never get in India. They are going to reek increasing havoc in the coming years because unlike the raging fat black women they are intelligent though misdirected.
I’m wary of drawing such broad presumptions and generalizations about a single ethnic group. I think it’s intrinsically misguided and unfair.
There are many, many Hindus who understand the Islamofascist/Muslim supremacist threat, who are guided accordingly and who are staunch supporters of Israel.
What you’re really complaining about, which is a broader concept, is the cancerous influence of leftists/Dhimmi-crats, wherever they reside, and, whatever nationality or ethnic group they belong to.
Perhaps. I definitely agree with the third paragraph. However you can start with the fact that India has always been and continues to be in Russia’s orbit not the US’s. They do share good relations with Israel but of course Israel used to be very socialist.
My opinions are not based upon their support for Israel though. Nor are they based upon India itself. They reflect my observation about the political orientation and actions of many Indians especially women. Harris is another example as is her mother, The nutcase socialist on Seattle’s city council is another.
I’ve given your comments some additional thought. I think my lashing out has three parts to it.
1) Anger at immigrants who aren’t thankful to be in this country now and either won’t assimilate or want to change it radically, or both.
2) Anger at those women who are progressive and are at not only the core of the democrat party but the root of much of the discontent with the values of this country.
3) Anger at Indians in high tech who
a) Often are mediocre are best
b) Become managers who hire mostly other Indians (and expect kickbacks for doing so)
coupled with short sided corporate managers who care only about the short term and
exploit the H1b program to hire a more controllable professional staff and keep their salaries down.
Fuse these all together and you have my irritation with progressive Indian women like Jayapal.
Fortunately I’m done with work so 3) is no longer a personal issue. The only discrimination I ever faced was probably age discrimination,
I’ve worked in Tech my entire life.
I know A LOT of Indians.
None are conservative.
They are all socialist cows to a T.
Als0 the Islamic sort are tied with other Muslims for the most anti-semitic people on the planet.
Are you sure there were Indians and not Pakistanis. Pakistan is very antisemitic, Of course they are pretty much the same people and a third of India is muslim.
@0ztakddot I’m 100% sure. As you said 1/3 of India is Muslim. Even during our college years the Islamist Indians were disliked by the non-Muslim indians for generally being militant assholes.
I wonder if the amazing improvement in Rubio is due to his no longer having to worry about getting re-elected. This could explain a lot about our legislators.
He doesn’t have to worry about being canceled in Trump 2.0 administration. Democrats foisted off a semi-sentient corpse as President for 4 years so why would anyone want to treat them with anything but contempt?
He ain’t ‘little marco’ any more, and we have Pres. Trump to thank. Fight! Fight! Fight! Many in Trump’s admin have displayed this type of ‘FU’ against this gay communism of these open border globalists h3llbent on turning the USA into the turd world toilet of Europistan.
Fight! Fight! Fight! Followed by a first class h^nging.
A visa means that you are a guest in the country. There are plenty of people who have visa applications denied approval every year. A visa is a privilege, no an right with no expectations.
When Universities don’t adequately exercise oversight of their student’s behavior, letting them run wild/lawless without sufficient deterrent then revoke the Univ eligible to enroll or employ those on any sort of Visa or deferred immigration enforcement action.
Pull their funding. Freeze it, dock it, keep a balance and make them report another line item every quarter and year of funding they lost due to their unwillingness to play the game by the rules.
Someone needs to remind the bug eyed wonder from Seattle.
Based … definitely not Little Marco anymore. I really hope the stupid communists keep arguing and fighting for foreign troublemakers in ways that they would never fight for their constituents.
“I’m looking to get crazy people out of our country.”
Am I the only one that got that sly little dig that Rubio got in there?
In her op-ed Rümeysa Öztürk accused Israel of deliberate starvation, indiscriminate slaughter of Palestinian civilians and genocide. Something needs to be done!
Somebody like Elias Rodriquez might read that and decide to take action and ………………….. some Israelis.
People have noticed the change in Rubio . . .
. . . because he is more than likely to soon be entering a presidential election.
He was not this way when he last ran for president. Also, he gave up his senate seat once before this so he has no given it up twice. He is still is pretty measured and doesn’t fly off the handle which I like.
Agreed, he was not like this when he last ran, but it was also far less obvious during THAT primary that Republican voters were very much frustrated with the Establishment GOP and the same old business as usual. Trump’s victory last November, and the popularity of both his policies and rhetoric since, have made it abundantly clear that the Rubio of 2016 needed a redesign and upgrade. Rubio’s tougher talk as Secretary of State has been in line with such an update.
To honor Jayapal and her voters, please ship all your criminals and drug addicts to Seattle.
and yes… golf clap for Rubio. We are so done with terrorists and radicals abusing guest access to our country.
All I need to know about Jayapal was shown when she refused to praise a young survivor of cancer during Trump’s speech. She’s one of the many that hate Trump more than they love our country.
I’m in a quandary. Who is better at beating down idiot Democrats in the hearings, Rubio or Patel? Neither are there to take crap and both have the NFTG attitude. Someone finally talking back to the oh so mighty on the committee’s has left the Dems rather speechless on how to proceed except the “reclaim my time” which means “I got nothing so shut up”.
