Anti-Israel Yale Students on Hunger Strike Told Their Demands Will Not be Met
“They’re demanding that Yale divest from defense contractors, sever ties with Israel, and adopt a rigid political agenda”

Members of the independent Yale University student group ‘Yalies4Palestine’ went on a hunger strike starting over the weekend. They want the school to divest from Israel, among other things.
There were only six participants, which would seem to suggest that most people have moved on from this fad.
Yale Daily News reported:
Six Yalies4Palestine members begin hunger strike
Six individuals associated with Yalies4Palestine began a hunger strike “for Gaza” at noon on Saturday.
The group, which includes five undergraduate students and one recent Yale College graduate, will only consume water until Yale concedes to their list of demands, they told the News. The individuals spoke to the News on the condition of anonymity.
“Children and families are starving, so we’re in solidarity with Gaza, as well as students across the country that are hunger striking,” a hunger striker told the News on behalf of the group.
The hunger strikers told the News that they began their protest in solidarity with a group of 25 students from California State Universities in Long Beach, San Jose, Sacramento and San Francisco, who began a hunger strike on May 5. They also pointed to Israel’s blockade of all goods and humanitarian aid to Gaza, which has halted the entry of any food, medicine and fuel since March 2…
Pro-Palestinian demonstrations at Yale have seen significantly fewer attendees during the 2024-25 academic year than they did last spring. On April 22, around 200 pro-Palestinian protestors set up an encampment on Beinecke Plaza to protest an upcoming talk near Yale’s campus by far-right Israeli security minister Itamar Ben-Gvir. That encampment lasted less than three hours.
The tweet below reads:
Yale students are hunger striking “for Gaza,” but the whole display reeks of performance and moral blackmail.
“Maybe they will care if their students are hunger striking.”
They’re demanding that Yale divest from defense contractors, sever ties with Israel, and adopt a rigid political agenda—all while insisting they’re champions of “free speech.”
“We demand ideological divestment and ending partnerships with Tel Aviv University…”
You’ll notice that everyone in the video is hiding their identity.

They eventually tried to raise an alarm over the blood sugar level of one of the protesters.
BREAKING: Yale Public Safety has warned Hunger Strikers they face medical arrest after one student reported a 39-point drop in blood sugar.

And finally, the best part. An administrator showed up and informed them that none of their demands would be met and that if they continue, they could face arrest. Note that this is exactly the way a recent, similar situation was dealt with at Swarthmore College.
This tweet reads:
The official reminded students that their gathering was unauthorized: “You’re not allowed to be here… you need permission to hold an event or a gathering on campus.” Only registered groups can request that permission, and this group was not.
They were told to leave by 4:30 p.m. or face consequences: “If not, I will ask for your IDs.” Those who refused could be subject to “disciplinary action or arrest.”
One protester shot back: “Would you rather have your students starve than to talk to them?”

As I said about Swarthmore, this is the right way to deal with this. No negotiations, no coddling, no talk of demands. You are distracting the learning process for other students. Knock it off or there will be consequences. End of story.

I wonder if this change in response has anything to do with who is President?
New weight loss fad.
Not at all. These people are dishonest to the core. Of course they will eat—all the while pretending to be on a hunger strike in order to get sympathy from the press for their cause.
Historically Gaza depends on Israel to eat.
While, historically, every grant and infrastructure gift got re-routed from ending that dependency to military spending. Every Bit of concrete and money spent building underground depots, bunkers, and infiltration tunnels was stolen from civilian relief efforts.
Prior to the fairly recent kidnapping and murder of 1,000+ Israeli civilians – an act celebrated by almost all Gazans – there was no shortage of “civilian relief”.
Also, historically, every recent “civilian relief” effort gets re-routed to Hamas fighters instead of hungry non-fighters.
Food shortages in Germany during WWII would certainly have been alleviated if (say) those evil evil Brits had been willing to ship food into Germany. While still fighting them. The bastards!
They must not be that hungry in Gaza. The recipients are feeding their pets with the excess food delivered to them.
I will be surprised if these students have the necessary discipline or commitment to starve themselves to death for this (or any cause, for that matter).
I am reminded of the Columbia grad student/TA who wanted Columbia to deliver food to those occupying a university building.
An enterprising food vendor show park some food trucks nearby.
A nice BBQ upwind of those Hamas kids might bring this to a satisfying conclusion.
I never understood hunger strikes, or any other form of self-harm protest. My response would always be “Ok”, then walk away.
Worked for Gandhi during his fight for India’s independence so they think they can do the same with the same results.
List of fasts undertaken by Mahatma Gandhi
Ghandi’s “fight for independence” was only won because he was dealing with the civilized English-speaking British.
Had he been striving to liberate his country from Muslims, the Chinese or Africans, the outcome would have been predictable and swift.
It’s the “I’ll hold my breath until I turn blue” of the teenage and 20s types.
Color me “impressed.” Isn’t it amazing how the defeat of woke-ness, DEI’s termination, layoffs, a decline in admissions applications, and the threat of ending the Federal funding gravy train for elite colleges are making a huge difference in behavior and changes in attitude among administrators?
Time to set up a portable gill next to their protest to cook onions and burgers.
That was my first thought. Or organize a food truck fest all around them.
Or maybe offer them assistance by providing a 20 ft container to seal them into and hand them three gallons of water a day until they quit. The ‘conex’ diet would be hella effective to shed unwanted pounds; nothing like baking inside a hot ass conex and starvation to loose weight.
Perhaps a pig roast be more appropriate?
They’re probably all vegans.
I was thinking pizza but really anything will do.
They probably don’t eat meat, so grass clippings and sliced tomatoes?
It was only going to last until they got hungry.
To call them students anymore is misleading at best.
These students should sue on account of like Yale is making them starve to death
I think they need the protest luminary from Columbia Uni, the”can’t we get like get a glass of water” girl to join them. That would really be a meeting of the minds. They could fake hunger strike with organic foods and expensive waters together, while roughing it in their REI tents. It’s glamping protest for the jet set of elite bigots.
Should’ve set up a grill upwind and started barbecuing burgers. Maybe some bacon-wrapped hotdogs, too.
Expulsion should be the only “reward” given to these goose-stepping, genocidal, Islamofascist/Muslim supremacist-allying/supporting reprobates.
Palis4Yalestine.
serve them a hot bowl of
prison porridge
Medical arrest? Well that’s a new one on me.
I am annoyed at ALL UNIVERSITY PROTESTS because one attends university to learn, period – not to engage in SJW activities. All protestors – regardless of what they are protesting – should be expelled.
Protests about things AT THE UNIVERSITY which ACTUALLY AFFECT THE STUDENTS should be tolerated as long as they are only protests and not, for example, preventing the classrooms from being used.
A protest about vermin in a dorm not being exterminated, for example, is entirely appropriate.
The number of demonstrations, building occupations, and encampments would drop to virtually none if colleges went back to the courses of study (“majors”) offered in the 1950s, and shed all of the “studies” and other such nonsense courses,
First College President: How can we enroll more Affirmative Action students and increase our income and financial standing?
Second College President: We will cut back on stem classes and add lots of “studies” and other such nonsense courses,
Paula, I think a lot of the nonsense courses and nonsense majors were fabricated so they could increase your admission of minorities. That, was done to satisfy the department of education at the justice department.
Brilliant!!
In 1973 I started at U of Mich. They had been committed to 10% black enrollment for several years. They were at something like 7-8. They coudn’t get to 10. Even though it was a state schools instate blacks couldn’t qualify and if they qualified they couldn’t last. I was stem and don’t think I had a black in any of my classes. Met 1 biochem grad student but that was it.
I heard 20 years later they still hadn’t gotten to 20. Well you pile on enough AA and easy studies classes you can get to 10 or higher and keep your black students. That is quite likely what happened.
This is not the way to do things. Watering down standards and adding easy but useless courses is not the way to go. It helps no one least of all the students it professes to help. They end up with false sense of excellence.
The only way to grow and exceed your current limitations is to fail and to learn from such failures. Failure is important to eventual success. If you can’t survive a failure then you are a brittle person who will never be able to tolerate and overcome the inevitable failures that happen in life either due to uncontrollable circumstances or your own incorrect or insufficient actions..
I don’t understand these idiots.
Student- “I will get you to change your mind and agree with me by not eating!!”
Me- “Looks like the line at the cafeteria will be shorter. Good.”
“Mais fica!”
“ one student reported a 39-point drop in blood sugar.”
JC with these morons. Of course they failed to mention the person started off with a bs of over 200.
LOL! Anyway, more food for the rest of us!
If they’re truly fasting, I give them 48 hours before they call Jimmy Johns for delivery
“One protester shot back: ‘Would you rather have your students starve than to talk to them'”
Um…didn’t he just talk to them when he said “no” to their demands?
Didn’t he talk to them when he said they’d be arrested?
Apparently college students are very confused about what constitutes “talking”.
Our violence is speech.
Your speech is violence.
Your silence is violence.
You’re a nazi and you can’t get around it.
Isn’t Democracy 5 lions and a sheep voting on who gets eaten?
Remember the Princeton “hunger strike” where they went hungry in shifts? This is going that same direction.
These clowns aren’t as dedicated as the 10 IRA terrorists were in 1981. Those dudes actually died.
I haven’t seen the losers at Yale, but I bet a few of them will actually be healthier once they call it quits.
I so want to eat in front of the little bastards. Not say anything (although I want to say plenty) Just eat.
I’d walk up and drop a huge box of honey sticks in front of them.
They were better than the Columbia assholes because they didn’t really occupy the building, just sat in an area of it and didn’t impede traffic (as I understand it.)
But still the answer is “no”. And the buildings surely close overnight and they have to leave. I wish we could let them starve to death, but that would be terrible publicity, so medical arrest is a better option.
Does this mean the hunger-strikers are going to starve themselves to death? Cuz I’m OK with that, and I would admire their conviction.
