House Democrats Ticked at David Hogg’s Plan to Primary Older Lawmakers

House Democrats Ticked at David Hogg’s Plan to Primary Older Lawmakers

I mean, when you appoint someone like Hogg to a prominent position, this is what you get.

Democrats, what did you expect when you elected loudmouth and self-righteous David Hogg as vice chair of the party?

Hogg wants to spend $20 million to oust older Democrat lawmakers (except the ones in safe districts.

Hogg hopes to dismantle the “culture of seniority” that he believes has infected the Democratic Party and made it less effective.

Yeah, the idea ticked off House Democrats. From Axios:

  • “What a disappointment from leadership. I can think of a million better things to do with twenty million dollars right now,” swing-district Rep. Hillary Scholten (D-Mich.) told Axios.
  • “Fighting Democrats might get likes online, but it’s not what restores majorities,” she added.
  • Another vulnerable House Democrat, speaking on the condition of anonymity to offer candid thoughts about a top party official, called the plan “very counterproductive and counterintuitive” and said “it would sure be nice to have some of that financial support.”

This is the kid who used the deaths of his classmates to make a name for himself and propel himself to the upper echelons of the Democratic Party.

You mean to tell me he’s putting his interests above everyone else? I’m totes shocked (sarcasm):

  • “I think this is a mistake,” said a second House Democrat who spoke anonymously. “Now, are people pissed? … I don’t know a single person who is happy about it.”
  • A third told Axios it “seems inappropriate for a DNC vice chair to threaten sitting Dems.”
  • A fourth said they are “totally dumbfounded” that “instead of focusing on [winning], we’re focusing inward in a circular firing squad.”

It sounds like you can never tell Hogg no.

Granted, yes, older members should step aside, especially for health reasons.

Congress has become a retirement home. The average age of Congress if 58 years old: “Of its 435 members, the House of Representatives has more than a quarter in their 50’s — and only one in their 20’s.”

It’s the third oldest Congress in American history.

Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) won’t go away. Rep. Grace Napolitano (D-CA) is 88 years old. Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) is 86.

Oh, Republicans are just as bad. Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) is 91. Freshman Sen. Jim Justice (R-WV) is 73. Rep. John Carter is 83.

One Democrat said “competition is not bad thing,” but the criteria should expand beyond age.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) has already rebuked Hogg, standing by his policy of supporting Democratic incumbents.

“Fighting Democrats might get likes online, but it’s not what restores majorities,” she added.

Regaining majority without ideological purity means nothing to the crop of young nutcases your policies have fostered.

This quote, “Never interfere with an enemy in the process of destroying himself,” is a strategic piece of advice that suggests when an opponent is making mistakes or heading towards self-destruction, it is best to stand aside and let it happen rather than intervening. This idea is rooted in the notion that interfering might disrupt the process and inadvertently aid the enemy, or detract from the damage they are doing to themselves. It’s a principle that highlights the importance of patience, observation, and strategic inaction.

    Go, Master Hogg, go.

Where’s the lie? Too many comfortable, infinitely reelectable milquetoast cancerous lumps that are content passively siphoning money from this country while it rots.

Like seagulls fighting over a bag of garbage.

The Democrat Party moving left deeper into INSANE territory is good news even for the lackluster do-nothing GOP.

Sen Van Hollen took hold of insanity with both hands and pursued it to the end.

When he reached the outer limits of insanity, he lifted a margarita to his lips and said, “I love me some gangbangers!”

Meh, the number of center/right populists in GoP is growing each election cycle. Unfortunately every time they raise up the issue of dramatically cutting spending to stop adding insurmountable amounts to our $36 Trillion Debt (only on budget debt FWIW, doesn’t include the much larger amount of off budget unfunded liabilities; SSI, VA Benefits, Military Retirement Fed Civil Service Retirement, healthcare for Veterans)….Every time these folks raise objections they get hammered. When the only Rep willing to vote NO on the fiscal insanity of ‘go along/get along’ does so he gets all sorts of hate and primary threats.

One problem with getting rid of your multi-term congress people is the way committee assignments work. Until they stop giving the important committees to the senior people you give away a lot of power for your own state by changing people for no particular reason other than they have been there a while.
This applies to both parties.

Now if the Democrats want to promote infighting and reduce their own power I’m all for it.

I am generally opposed to the idea of suicide, but in the case of the modern Democratic Party, I would make an exception. Go for it, Mr. Hogg!

Oh my God. Someone stole JR and replaced him with a doubleganger. A reasonable post that doesn’t much Trump. I’m shocked I tell you. Truely shocked!!

Age limits and term limits.

We don’t need these old fossils sitting there for decades, in EITHER party.

How about a go/no go on a basic physical test like the APFT and a cognitive test like basic TBI screening? The State parties could institute them by themselves. Doesn’t run afoul of the Constitution or add any qualifications to run/ho!d the office b/c they can choose to skip major party nomination primary and just run in the Nov general election as an independent.

Of course the existing Dems are going to be upset at Hogg. They have to spend money and work at primaries to keep their positions while showing more left. This will likely cause the race against GOP to be harder even if they win their primary as they cannot come across as centrist but will need the money used in the primary.

Let them replace the old socialists with new younger socialists.

Hogg’s using the DNC lists to solicit for his own PAC, undercutting party financing for his own gain. He’s as good at this as he was with his pillow company

“It sounds like you can never tell Hogg no.”
David Hogg (PityD, Harvard) always thinks he’s the smartest one in any room.
That’s only true if he was trapped in an elevator with Joe, Tim, and Kamala, and even then it would go the full ten rounds.

Buy popcorn, this will be fun to watch

Little Hogg Boy wants to be The Big Boss Hogg.
He needs to put on some serious weight first.

Sorry, Dems. It’s yours. You must embrace the Hogg.

I’m actually a little surprised that the Democrats didn’t learn anything from the 60’s when they let the radicals take over their party with the mistaken belief the non crazies could “guide them”.

Alex deWynter | April 18, 2025 at 2:31 pm

Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit scarfing down popcorn.

This clown is the poster child for Harvard. Someone with low test scores who couldn’t be accepted into college only to be snapped up by Harvard after he exploited an unfortunate national even to display his thoroughly unhinged and ignorant gun control progressive chops. The fact that he managed to graduate from said university tells you all you want to know about the rigor and quality of the education provided, That his farther is an ex-FBI agent tells you all you want to know about how far that agency has fallen (although it can be argued that it never had far to fall),

Democrats are schmucks. They make poor choices like putting in stupid quotas about who they must elect as Vice Chairs to their party’s “Central Committee” (shades of Bolshevikii). Now they have buyer’s remorse for the youngest schmuck they elected. Just sitting back and LMAO.🤣

On that topic some of the Silent Gen/Boomers may want to draw in their horns and be less Karanish and less dismissive of the Millennials lest those like Hogg seek a utilitarian solution to the SSA funding problem…. by sending a Sandman. I don’t think enough members of the Silent/Boomer Generations full appreciate how much they are loathed by Millennials and younger generations.

Nobody wants kicked off the gravy train? Their ongoing crime spree shut down?

Color me shocked.

Morning Sunshine | April 18, 2025 at 7:52 pm

I recall from my history classes in the 90s that the Boomers had a saying in their young radical days at college in the 60s – “don’t trust anyone over 30.”

Lovely to see that being used against them in their dotage….

Here in farm country, when we have defective livestock we just send them for processing.

This hideous puke needs an aneurysm.

And that’s our boy Hogg!

Hogg still has that giant head on a pencil neck. Makes you wonder what sort of poor nutrition he received as a child.

Mother was a devout vegan, perhaps.
