¡El Salvador Fever! Are Democrats Walking Into a Trump Trap?

Democrats have gone all in on returning “Maryland father” Kilmar Abrego Garcia to the United States—as if this were the most pressing issue facing the country today.
Considering the harm inflicted on our nation and the American lives lost to violent gang members from south of the border, championing the return of an illegal immigrant whom two U.S. courts have identified as a member of MS-13 and whose wife has twice sought restraining orders for domestic violence, seems like a bizarre hill for Democrats to die on.
Swept up in their El Salvador fever, Democrats now appear to be defending the indefensible. The irrationality of this position has one House Democrat calling the deportation issue a “soup du jour,” arguing that President Donald Trump is “setting a trap for the Democrats, and like usual we’re falling for it.”
This centrist member of Congress, who spoke to Axios on the condition of anonymity, said, “Rather than talking about the tariff policy and the economy … the thing where his numbers are tanking, we’re going to go take the bait for one hairdresser.” [He was likely referring to deportee Andry Hernandez Romero.]
The lawmaker added that if Trump were to deport a U.S. citizen, Democrats would be forced to draw a “line in the sand” and “shut down the House.”
This individual may be the single voice of sanity left inside the Democratic Party. The rest of the party is doubling and tripling down on stupid.
Democrats in both chambers of Congress are trying to arrange congressional delegations (CODELs) to the San Salvadoran prison to protest Abrego Garcia’s “wrongful” incarceration. Among this group is Rep. Robert Garcia (D-CA), who told Axios on Tuesday, “This is about a president of the United States defying the Supreme Court and wanting to be a king.”
Asked by Axios if this issue might be a political loser for Democrats, Garcia claimed that was “total bullsh*t,” saying “this is not just a deportation story … this is a broader story about Donald Trump consolidating power.”
Or maybe Trump is just trying to keep Americans safe.
On Wednesday, Maryland Sen. Chris Van Hollen traveled to El Salvador to much fanfare. In remarks before boarding his plane, he noted, “We are going to keep fighting to bring Abrego Garcia home, until he returns to his family.”
Did Van Hollen not understand that Abrego Garcia is already home?
He continued, “I hope to meet with representatives of the government. I hope I have the chance to actually see Kilmar and see what his condition is.”
Van Hollen explained, “What bullies do is they begin by picking on the most vulnerable, but if we get rid of the rule and due process in the United States, it’s a short road from there to tyranny.”
That’s right—a U.S. senator just described a man twice accused of domestic violence, and identified by multiple courts as a member of a brutal gang responsible for widespread violence across the country, as one of the “most vulnerable.”
As it turned out, Van Hollen was not permitted to meet with Abrego Garcia. (He was, however, kindly offered a tour of the prison—which he declined.) Still, to the delight of his base, his point had been clearly conveyed.
Apparently, Van Hollen, Garcia, and others advocating for Abrego Garcia’s return have forgotten that the Biden administration’s open-border policies—which allowed over 15 million unvetted illegal immigrants into the country—ranked among voters’ top three concerns in the November election.

The White House invited Patty Morin—the mother of Rachel Morin, whose life was brutally cut short in an act of unimaginable violence by a depraved illegal alien—to speak at a Wednesday afternoon press briefing.
Morin recounted the harrowing details of her daughter’s death. Rachel, a 37-year-old mother of five, was found slain along a well-traveled Maryland hiking trail, her body bearing the marks of a savage and senseless attack. Authorities described the scene as “heinous,” the work of a madman with no regard for human life.
Her gripping words left the typically combative press corps in stunned silence. After sharing her deeply disturbing story, Morin looked around the room and simply said, “Tell the truth.”

No, Abrego Garcia is not the man who killed Rachel Morin. But a criminal record is not required for deportation. He did enter the U.S. illegally, and evidence overwhelmingly indicates he is a member of MS-13—a violent and deadly gang known for its brutality.
Despite this, a judge granted him a reprieve based on his claim that he would be killed if he were deported to his home country. In February, however, Trump designated MS-13 as a terrorist organization—a move that would appear to nullify any such reprieve.
The optics of the Democrats’ Herculean push to bring an illegal immigrant back into the U.S. will not sit well with most Americans, the majority of whom have grown weary of the Left’s unrelenting embrace of woke politics.
Additionally, although few Americans have been touched as profoundly by the border crisis as Patty Morin, most of us know someone who has died as a result of the large quantities of fentanyl that cartels have smuggled into the country.
Instead of pouring time—and taxpayer dollars—into freeing a likely terrorist from a foreign prison, perhaps Democrats should focus on what their constituents actually elected them to do: defend the interests and safety of the American people.
Perhaps the anonymous lawmaker is right: Trump set a trap for the Democrats and they walked straight into it. He does seem to have a knack for making the Left look foolish, doesn’t he?

Uh, no. He swallowed them when he saw that he was about to be arrested. He didn’t want to be caught with them. He had done it once before and almost died; this time he didn’t get lucky.
Quite a few people seem to forget Floyd was already going to die from an overdose and there was nothing the police could do to stop it.

He he received medical attention when first pulled out of his SUV , he likely would have lived. However, he wasnt show signs of sufficient trauma at that point and certainly not enough trauma to warrant medical attention.
He was almost definitely going to die by the time he was first entered the police car. the foam in his mouth was clearly evident at that point and he was complaining about not being able to breath.
The avelio (bad spelling) ie the air sacs in the lungs where oxygen is exchanged into the blood was blocked by the fluid in the lungs which prevent breathing. He simply drowned.
By all accounts due to his behavior while trying to pass a counterfeit $10 bill he was already out of his mind on drugs. He couldn’t make a good decision at that point to save his life and didn’t.

Recall during his first term Trump cancelled the Air Force jet when a congressional delegation, including Pelosi, was on the tarmac at Andrews Air Force base all ready to leave. No trip for you! I can’t recall the exact circumstances, but I believe Pelosi pissed him off.
Unless they want to fly commercial and cover all the other expenses themselves, Trump, Vance, Rubio, Hegseth, Bondi, etc should be shouting from the rooftops that members of Congress want to spend taxpayer dollars and military and State Department resources on this. And El Salvador has made it clear that anyone who wants meetings needs to arrange them through the State Department. Truly, Van Hollen going down there and expecting officials to kowtow to him because he’s a US senator was both tone-deaf and disrespectful.
Can you imagine what our response would be if a bunch of politicians from El Salvador rolled up on ADX Florence and demanded entry?

This story from DailyCaller’s Amber Duke is…interesting. Garcia was pulled over in TN in 2022. He had a car load of non-English speakers with him and was driving on an expired license…and was released with a warning. I have no idea how the law works in TN. But, in my state, if you drive with no license or an expired license (past the grace period of 30-days, I believe), you’re going to jail. Obviously, he was engaged in human trafficking as recently as 2022.

The Democrats are trying to trap Trump – legally, not politically. They need to stop the deportations, or at least slow them to a crawl, and they can argue before SCOTUS that due process rights for aliens need to be expanded to prevent mistakes in deportation. They are not playing for the public here. They are playing for an audience of two – CJ Roberts and ACB.
Obviously the Democrats, the media, some rogue judges have become absolutely obsessed with Kilmar Abrego Garcia. Even a US senator, one Chris Van Hollen, has seen fit to travel to El Salvador to try an spring Garcia. Hillary Clinton too has weighed in.

No, the broader story is the democraps are making a case to have every illegal have the right to a hearing/trial before being booted out of the country.
Which is fine, as long they’re all rounded up and held them in detention centers until their case comes up to go before a court.

Due process does not necessarily mean they get a trial. It could be something as simple as a conversation with an immigration judge. I’m sure we can come up with something creative that won’t create thousands of years worth of backlog in the deportation process
I just had another thought. For those awaiting their “due process”, they should be made to wait in Mexico. They have no business in our country while they wait.
So Hollins flies to a foreign country, demands to meet with one of their citizens who is a member of a foreign terrorist organization and send their citizen to the US in defiance of a lawful judicial order of removal. I wish our politicians worked this hard for American Citizens.
It’s about time for America to see the results of illegal violent offenders. Investigators do not allow photo evidence to be viewed by the public thereby withholding vital evidence of the very real threat to all. Government investigators need to post crime scene photo’s, as horrible as they many be, so America can see the fruits of the policies of illegal immigration. Photos will also lessen the MSM spin especially when foreign gangs are involved.
Exactly why Patty Morin telling her story at the WH press briefing was so compelling. She had details that even she only found out about at trial, and that none of the “press” in that room would have covered had she not spoken before they could smother/spin the story.
The Democrats are desperate, perhaps, but stupid they are not. It seems to me the Democrats are playing for a bigger goal here – they want a court order to stop ALL deportations, or at least slow them to a crawl.
The illegal aliens are their base. They turned CA from a competitive state to a 1-party Dem state through migration, as the aliens have lots of children, and the showdown was in the 1990s. The Democratic Party brought in over 10 million during Biden to guarantee they would eventually never lose another national election. That was their goal, and still is. To make this work, they need the courts to stop all deportations. They can’t let Trump reverse what the party did under Sloe Joe.
A SCOTUS ruling giving illegals more due process rights, in order to prevent “mistakes” like this case, might be enough to stop the Trump deportation train. That is the Democrat goal here – get a Supreme Court ruling that has the practical effect of slowing deportations to a crawl. Mistakes are naturally going to happen when the Administration prioritizes deportation above all other considerations, and the only way to make a system mistake-free is to slow it down with judicial procedure. If the Democrats are successful, Trump would have blundered into their trap.
Mayhaps the DOJ should charge Van Hollen with aiding and abetting a criminal enterprise.
