United Nations Free Speech Envoy Tells Harvard to ‘Fight Against Trump’
“Coming to the university shouldn’t be a traumatic experience for exercising your rights”

It’s hilarious to watch the left suddenly leaping to the defense of free speech. We didn’t see them do that as mobs of leftist students shouted down various speakers on campus over the years.
The College Fix reports:
U.N. free speech envoy tells Harvard to ‘fight against Trump’
The United Nations special rapporteur on freedom of peaceful assembly and association told a Harvard Law School audience on Tuesday that it needs to battle the Trump administration by standing up for “free speech principles.”
Gina Romero, a Colombian national who’s an “expert in dialogue, mediation, building and managing networks” with a focus on “marginalized groups, gender and youth,” also implored the university to “protect international students against deportation threats,” according to The Crimson.
“Universities need to figure out on what side of this power struggle they are going to be,” Romero said. “This is a very powerful institution. We are not talking about a very small, poor university in a small isolated place.”
Romero (pictured) also said American universities’ dismantlement of pro-Hamas encampments via police represented “bias” against black and Arab students.
She also criticized changes in schools’ protest policies and added the fear of deportation will make international students think twice about exercising their rights of free expression and assembly.
“I cannot see students that are afraid of doing or going to a protest because they don’t want to be deported,” Romero said. “Universities need to protect their own students from those threats and then resist the pressure from external actors.
“Coming to the university shouldn’t be a traumatic experience for exercising your rights,” she added.
At the Tuesday event, Romero also discussed her own transition to working at the U.N. from the Latin American and Caribbean Network for Democracy. She described receiving the special rapporteur position with the instruction to look into several potential human rights violations in the context of pro-Palestine protest.
She said that in many cases reported to the U.N., organizations had maintained “double standards” in their response to protest — specifically restricting pro-Palestine movements. She cited doxxing attacks, physical violence, and “administrative sanctions” at universities.

It is more than a bit ironic that someone from the United Nations is encouraging Harvard to stand up for “free speech principles” since neither are known for supporting free speech all in the country that arguably is the most free speech country in the world.
Interference into internal affairs of another country. Sanction her and ban her from entry
Or kick the un out
Or both.
And this is why the UN is on the nose. It supports the ‘free speech rights’ of terrorists and terrorist sympathisers whilst showing no support for their Jewish victims,
It’s hilarious to watch the left suddenly leaping to the defense of free speech.
I’ll say it again: The left has NEVER been interested in free speech as truly free. From the moment they first picked up the banner of “free speech” in the 60s, the only purpose has to been stifle those who want to tell them they’re wrong or immoral (mostly the latter). They crusaded for “speech” in music so they could sing about sex and drugs. They crusaded for “freedom” so they could have untrammeled sex. They crusaded for “academic freedom” so they could sell communism without opposition.
EVERY “free speech” crusade by the left has been about shutting up those with whom they disagree and to allow their hedonism and transhumanism to run unchecked. EVERY. ONE.
Another example of the uselessness of the United Nations. Stop funding this American hating institution, withdraw from membership and close down all UN buildings in the US.
They would be so happy in Geneva.
Persona non grata. Bye bye.
