Trump at National Prayer Breakfast: ‘Without Faith in God, There Would be No American Story’

“But that event [assassination attempt], like the tragedy last week, should remind us all that we have to make the most out of every single day that we have.”

President Donald Trump delivered powerful speeches at the National Prayer Breakfast at Capitol Hill and Washington Hilton this morning.

Capitol Hill

Trump said he signed an executive order to establish a national park filled with statues of American heroes.

Trump also encouraged people to bring back religion:

From the earliest days of our republic, faith in God has always been the ultimate source of the strength that beats in the hearts of our nation. We have to bring religion back. We have to bring it back much stronger. It’s one of the biggest problems that we’ve had over the last, fairly long period of time. We have to bring it back. Thomas Jefferson himself once attended Sunday services held in the old house chamber on the very ground where I stand today. So there could be nothing more beautiful than for us to gather in this majestic place. It is majestic and reaffirm that America is and will always be one nation under God.

The president’s part about Butler was touching, too. He credited God for saving his life:

None of us knows exactly when our time on earth will be over. You never know. A truth I confronted a few short months ago when there was an incident that, it was not fun, it was not a good thing. But God was watching me…the chances of me being here.

My sons are shooters. They’re really good shooters, Don and Eric. And they said the chances of missing from that range with that gun are, but Don equated it to a 1ft putt. That’s pretty bad. 2ft I can see missing, but one foot you can’t miss. It was the equivalent of a 1ft putt, is what he told me. Said, in fact, he gained some religion, he went up 25%.

If you know him, that’s a lot. But he said there had to be somebody that saved you, and I think I know who it is that he looked up and I said, whoa, Don, you’ve come a long way.

He’s a good guy, but my two sons just really couldn’t believe it had I not turned that right turn just at that time and the audience, 55,000 people standing, this way, here were just a few people in the back, on the bleaches. There was nobody over there except for my all time favorite chart in history. A chart on immigration. Immigration saved my life, see? So we’re going to be good for immigration.

Okay, but had I not made that turn, boom. And quickly. It was almost as though a deer bolted. They say the only way you miss when you’re a good shot is if it bolts. I bolted. I turn to the right to look at the chart and I said, wow, what was that?

So you never know, but God did that. It had to be the chances of turning. There’s no reason to turn to the right. The chart is rarely brought down. I brought it down maybe 20% and 20% of the time and it’s never on my right. It’s always on my left and it’s always at the end of the speech, never the beginning of the speech. And if I was a little more than that 90 degree angle it would be no good. And if I was a little less, it would be. It had to be perfect thing went right along the edge.

It didn’t affect my hair. Can you believe that? Might have touched it, but not where it counts. Not the skin part.

But, honestly, it changed something in me. I feel even stronger. I believed in God, butI feel much more strongly about it. Something happens.

Thank you. Thank you. But that event, like the tragedy last week, should remind us all that we have to make the most out of every single day that we have.

Trump also remembered a time when everyone got along and didn’t fight as much as they used to. He encouraged people to make religion important again:

So today we join our hearts and prayers and recommitting to putting our country first. We have to put our country first, making America stronger and greater and more exceptional than ever before. And we have to make religion a much more important factor. Now we have to make it an important factor. And if we do that our job is just going to be much easier. It unifies people, it brings people together.

Trump mentioned how Democrats and Republicans came together to vote for Secretary of State Marco Rubio, pass the Laken Riley Act, and vote for other Cabinet nominees.

The president then spoke about a smart man who believes males should play in female sports. He doesn’t understand how this smart man could think that.

But Trump stressed the importance of finding middle ground.

Washington Hilton

In his speech, I wish I could find a clip, Trump told Interior Secretary Doug Bergum to leave and find oil. I laughed:

“So, Doug, you shouldn’t even be here right now. You should be…get out of here, Doug. Start looking for oil!”

LOL.

Anyway.

Trump told the audience it’s nice to have a president who shows up at the National Prayer Breakfast. His staff mentioned using Skype but he told them no! He’s going to attend and it’s a great honor to do so:

And I want to thank you, Pastor Paula, who I have known for a long time. She’s a fantastic person, and thanks to the thousands of believers here, today from all across the country and from all around the world.

This is a beautiful tradition. They told me I could do it via Skype. And I said, what are we doing? And they said the prayer breakfast. I said I’ve been there every year. I’m not doing it via Skype. I’m going to be there. It’s not that far. It’s, like, about two minutes down the road. In fact, it was easier to do this than put up a Skype deal. Just destroy the White House, putting up all that stuff.

But now I want to be here with you. And I have been here with you.

In God we trust:

From the very beginning of our republic, America has always been a nation founded by people of faith and strengthened by the power of prayer. And united by four simple but very beautiful words: In God we trust.

PRESIDENT TRUMP: “It was confidence in America’s God-given destiny that pushed the pioneers to journey west and led Americans to end Slavery… defeat Communism… We have to remember it’s unyielding faith in America’s mission that inspires us to make our country great again.”

POTUS: “These events remind us of how blessed we are to live in a nation that has thrived for two and a half centuries as a haven of religious freedom… My administration is absolutely committed to defending this proud heritage and I will ALWAYS protect religious liberty.”

Trump also recognized Noa Argamani, who Hamas kidnapped on October 7, 2023:

But we’re joined today by several brave families whose loved ones were taken hostage during the October 7. Horrible attack 16 months ago. And I know I speak for everyone here today when I say that we are keeping you in our hearts and our prayers, and please stand. If you are one of the people who have been so gravely affected, please stand. Thank you. Thank you very much. Well, they’re coming in. More are coming in today. They’re coming in. It’s a very traumatic situation, very tough, as the people know that are here with us. But they’re coming in.

And I made a statement and I meant it totally, that if they’re not home by the time I get into office, all hell will break loose in the Middle East. And I think they respected that statement, so we’ll see. But we have more hostages to come and we hope they live up to their word.

And I have to say, who knows that that’s going to happen? But one way or another, it’s going to work out. It’s going to all work out. As president, I will not rest until every remaining hostage has been returned to their families.

So thank you all for being here, appreciate it. Also with us is an incredible survivor of October 7. What a horrible day that was. That would have never happened. Iran was broke. They had no money to pay to Hamas or Hezbollah. They were stone cold broke.

Also with us is an incredible survivor of October 7 who was held captive by Hamas for more than eight months.

Noa Agaramani was at the music festival. She was at the music festival and attacked on that terrible day. Where are you? Where are you? Thank you very much. Thank you very much. That’s great that you’re here. I watched you on television.

I don’t know what you’re doing, but you look like a much younger person. I don’t know what the secret is. Please give it to all of us.

For 245 harrowing days, Noa showed unwavering strength and courage and faith as she endured.

The unendurable reality what she went through. But by the grace of God, she was rescued. By the Israeli defense forces, and now, she’s come back to pray with us this morning, and it’s such an honor to have you. And you’re really an inspiration. Know it, to all of us. Thank you very much.

The speech about Noa led to Trump announcing his creation of the White House Faith Office led by Pastor Paula White.

Trump spoke about the 23 pro-lifers who the DOJ arrested and thrown into jail, even the elderly.

The president introduced Paulette Harlow, one of the elderly women who got a two-year prison sentence.

Trump then said he would tell Attorney General Pam Bondi to form a task force to stop anti-Christian bias:

To confront such weaponization and religious persecution, today I’m signing an executive order to make our attorney general, who’s a great person. She’s going to be a great attorney general, Pam Bondi, the head of a task force brand new to eradicate anti-Christian bias.

About time, right? Anti-Christian bias, yet never heard of that one before, right? But it’s about time, isn’t it, though, really? So many times you hear, but you don’t hear the anti-Christian bias.

The mission of this task force will be to immediately halt all forms of anti-Christian targeting and discrimination within the federal government, including that the DOJ, which was absolutely terrible, the IRS, the FBI. Terrible.

And other agencies, in addition to task force, will work to fully prosecute anti-Christian violence and vandalism in our society and to move heaven and earth to defend the rights of Christians and religious believers nationwide.

You’ve never had that before, but this is a very powerful document I’m signing, you know, first time you’ve had it. If we don’t have religious liberty, that we don’t have a free country. We probably don’t even have a country this week. I’m also creating the White House faith office, led by pastor Paula White, who is so amazing.

That man’s happy [her husband I believe]. Look at. Stand up. Let me see. Why are you so happy? You. Love Paula, right? Lebanon. Tough. Yeah. So you know what we’re talking about better than anybody. Yeah, you can have a great new ambassador to Lebanon. Yes, thank you very much.

Thank you. That’s tough. You can have a great new ambassador. We just put them in.

While I’m in the White House, we will protect Christians and our schools and our military. And our government in our workplaces, hospitals and in our public squares. And we will bring our country back together as one nation, under God with liberty and justice for all.

Trump also brought up Butler. It’s similar to the one he gave at the Capitol.

I cannot even imagine…it is a miracle he didn’t die.

What inclines even me to believe in Christ’s Resurrection? It is as though I play with the thought. – If he did not rise from the dead, then he decomposed in the grave like any other man. _He is dead and decomposed._ In that case he is a teacher like any other and can no longer _help_ ; and once more we are orphaned and alone. So we have to content ourselves with wisdom and speculation. We are in a sort of hell where we can do nothing but dream, roofed in, as it were, and cut off from heaven. But if I am to be REALLY saved, – what I need is _certainty_ – not wisdom, dreams or speculation – and this certainty is faith. And faith is faith in what is needed by my _heart_, my _soul_, not my speculative intelligence. For it is my soul with its passions, as it were with its flesh and blood, that has to be saved, not my abstract mind. Perhaps we can say : Only _love_ can believe the Resurrection. Or : It is _love_ that believes the Resurrection. We might say : Redeeming love believes even in the Resurrection ; holds fast even to the Resurrection. What combats doubt is, as it were, _redemption_. Holding fast to _this_ must be holding fast to that belief. So what that means is : first you must be redeemed and hold on to your redemption (keep hold of your redemption) – then you will see that you are holding fast to this belief. So this can come about only if you no longer rest your weight on the earth but suspend yourself from heaven. Then _everything_ will be different and it will be `no wonder’ if you can do things that you cannot do now. (A man who is suspended looks the same as one who is standing, but the interplay of forces within him is nevertheless quite different, so that he can act quite differently than can a standing man.)

Two weeks into his 3rd 2nd term, and it’s as if we’ve travelled light years to a peaceful universe of rationality and tranquility where adults are in charge.

Elections have consequences. Praise the Lord Harris/Walz are in the garbage dump of history.

This message is wonderful – our nation was founded on Judeo-Christian values. We must return to this basis. No one is forcing someone to practice these faiths but ALL benefit from the goodness at the base of these faiths.

Thank you, President Trump!

You’re absolutely right. We should be listening to the party that actively hates God, thinks murdering babies is ok, is advocating for children to become sex objects, wants child genital mutilation, and just elected a president that molested his own daughter and likely drove his first wife to suicide.

Nobody molested their daughter you lying creep. And spare us your sanctimonius crap with your mythical god. .you worship a scumbag

Biden did. And probably his first daughter too. Which is why his wife killed herself and her daughter and tried to kill the boys.

you are SUCH a typical redhat. No matter what the orange Harvey Weinstein does- supported by evidence *
IN COURT* -you bury your head in the sand. There is no evidence Biden molested his daughter. NONE.NADA .ZILCH. (Rumors on MAGA maggot conspiracy sites don’t count as evidence) . Typical gullible redhat rube- those you believe. So deplorable.

I’m not a Christian and never have been, but if a man’s Christian faith is the impetus to make himself a better person or do the right thing, I respect that. I’d say the same of those of any religion — or none at all.

Faith is fire. It can forge.. It can protect. It can comfort. And it can destroy.
