Teacher Union Chief Randi Weingarten Panics Over Idea of Trump Closing Dept. of Education

“Weingarten claimed that Trump intends to use the money directed toward public schools and allocate it toward tax cuts for billionaires.”

Now that Trump is talking seriously about shutting down the Department of Education, some people are sitting up and listening with a sense of urgency and panic. Randi Weingarten, the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) president, ran directly to MSNBC to complain.

Weingarten does not want this to happen and is suddenly overflowing with ideas about how education can be improved without such drastic measures. She also used this opportunity to push the same old, tired, Democrat talking point that this is being done to provide tax benefits to billionaires.

The Daily Caller reports:

Teachers Union Leader Suggests Without Evidence That Trump Is Pulling Student Funding To Pay ‘Billionaires’

American Federation of Teachers (AFT) President Randi Weingarten suggested without evidence Tuesday that President Donald Trump is snatching money away from funding public education to give to “billionaires.”

The Trump administration has reportedly begun drafting an executive order to eliminate the Department of Education (DOE) and direct Congress to pass legislation to officially dissolve the agency, after having repeatedly stated that public education should be managed by states. Weingarten claimed that Trump intends to use the money directed toward public schools and allocate it toward tax cuts for billionaires.

“Congress appropriates the money directly for these kids. Where’s the money going? Who’s taking it? Are they trying to take that money that kids get for tax cuts for billionaires? What’s going on? That’s why we have to see what they’re doing. It is illegal to take that money out of children’s mouths and give it to billionaires,” Weingarten said.

The AFT president further said the education system needs the federal government to make necessary changes.

It’s worth noting that this video is from the AFT YouTube Channel. That alone indicates how important this fight is to teacher unions. Also, pay close attention to the fact that both Weingarten and the MSNBC host openly acknowledge that control over education is supposed to be handled at the local level, not by the federal government. Weingarten also claims that people didn’t vote for this, which is absolutely false.

Watch the whole thing:

Weingarten comes off as someone who is more worried about the end of a gravy train than about the education of America’s children, and everyone knows she is a hardcore partisan Democrat.

The time for her to make suggestions about improving American education is long passed. Give this power and the money back to the states and give school choice to parents and students. As Trump has said, they can’t do worse.

Class warfare remarks from a union leader. Imagine that.

I panic every time I am exposed to her photograph.

Weingarten is more upset that she can’t run in fifty different directions at once. Decentralization can have that result.

Jealousy is for losers. Fly back to your cave, you old bat.
.

She and the rest of them were so arrogant, now that has come home to roost. She should tuck her head between her legs and kiss her fat tail good by. DOE is about to expire with a whimper.

She is a dyed in the wool Marxists. She will say and do anything to protect her subjects, teachers.

‘Congress appropriates the money directly for these kids’

Never thought we’d see the head of AFT full throated endorsement of funding true school choice where the appropriated funding follows the student.

For almost 200 years local control was all we needed we didn’t have all the garbage and test scores were higher.

Once the “public”, government run, education system began, it was only a matter of time before it became totalitarian and ideologically captured.

The Department of Justice doesn’t make rules for local police or provide funding. They are supposed to bring justice to the country as a whole.

If the Department of Education worked the same way they would stay out of local schools and would have highly trained teachers who would take on cases where education was lacking. They would try to re-educate people in congress who are so stupid it’s laughable. Or when a judge has a case that’s overturned they would have to take remedial law courses from lawyers at the Dept of Education.

Trump can’t actually shutter the Department of Education without Congressional approval. My understanding is the plan being worked up is for the newly installed Secretary to eliminate all programs that aren’t authorized by a very strict reading of appropriate legislation, and then probably redirect funding to state and local grants.

Very similar to USAID, any of these cabinet departments are infested with sinecures for lefty apparatchiks, and supply grants to lefty organizations for projects of little actual value beyond keeping the Democrat Party alive.

I propose this. If the DOEd went away today not one thing would change for the worse for the children in our schools. Education ought to only be dealt with at state and local level. This albatross was given to us by Jimmy “Peanut” Carter when I was a senior in high school. Since it’s beginning it has helped no one but the teacher unions.

My rice bowl! Oh, noes . . . — Randi

Randi spouts the same old commie lib clap trap.

That guy is always complaining about something.

School kids don’t pay union dues. That’s the reason for the state of public education.

This is one of the things that really bother me. Somehow people like Weingarten think that they (in the form of the government) “own” the money that people earn.

Tax breaks are not giving money to anyone. It is the government taking less of what the people own and earned.

Let’s just rename it the “Groomer protection racket.”

Once again, we know Trump is over the target because all the right people are freaking out.

Randi is just another well-fed DNC Superdelegate

I did love that she basically handed over more ammunition to Trump and Republicans who want to abolish Dept. Ed. “This needs to be controlled at the local level!”

The teachers unions need to be dissolved. There is absolutely NO argument in favor of any sort of public worker unions. The teachers union and politicians both “negotiate” over other people’s money. It is INSANE!!

Further, the idea of a closed shop in any public sector is a fraud of the worst sort with a certain “ownership” in public assets handed over to private unions for no reason whatsoever. These public workers unions must be put to an end. They are un-Constitutional and illegal and retarded. They should never pass muster in a court (the first problem with them and our courts!) but, if the judiciary cannot understand what is un-Constitutional about them then it is to Congress to legislate them out of existence.

It would be interesting to determine how much money has been spent by the DOE and to identify the benefits we’ve received from all that money.

AFUERA!!!!

Of course she’s panicking. If the DOE is shut down, her power disappears over night. She can extort a single federal agency. She can’t extort 50 separate state agencies, and a further multiplicity of local districts.

Weingarten: “How dare he??!! Who is going to brainwash the next generation of children with leftist ideology if they are not sent to public schools?” Next, she will remind everyone she is gay, and that she and her husband are officially ‘victims’ of the Trump administration.

So if the Trump administration is working to eliminate the federal Dept. of Education can they also work to eliminate organizations like the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) union? They seem to be a very big part of the problem(s) facing education in the United States.
