Report: Netanyahu Gifts Trump Golden Pager to Celebrate Counter-Terror Op Against Hezbollah

President Trump: “That was a great operation.”

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly gifted President Donald Trump a golden pager as a memento marking the brilliant Israeli covert operation that turned Hezbollah beepers into exploding devices last September.

“Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu bequeathed US President Donald Trump a golden beeper during their meeting in Washington on Tuesday,” the Jerusalem Post reported.

“Trump reportedly responded to the gift by commenting on Israel’s beeper sabotage attacks on Hezbollah, which occurred in mid-September, noting it was a “grand” operation,” the newspaper added.

The visiting Israeli prime minister also presented a replica of a pager, similar to the one country’s intelligence agency Mossad used to eliminate or main thousands of Hezbollah terror operatives. The Mossad operation succeeded in targeting terrorists across the Hezbollah rank and file, including the Iranian ambassador to Lebanon, who was likely overseeing terror operations of the proxy group when the pagers exploded.

The Times of Israel reported:

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly gifted US President Donald Trump with a golden pager and a regular one, a reference to the clandestine operation that decimated the Hezbollah terror group.

“That was a great operation,” Trump responded, according to Channel 12 news.

In return, Trump gave Netanyahu a photo of the two of them from the visit, with the dedication “To Bibi, a great leader.”

In September, thousands of pagers used by Hezbollah operatives across Lebanon suddenly exploded, killing and injuring dozens. A day later, hundreds of walkie-talkies also blew up, killing and injuring scores more.

The attacks, swiftly attributed to Israel, came as Israel stepped up a counteroffensive against the Iran-backed Hezbollah, which began striking Israel almost immediately after the allied Palestinian terror group Hamas’s October 7, 2023, attack.

The two waves of pager blasts were followed by thousands of Hezbollah walkie talkies blowing up, again killing scores of terrorists and injuring hundreds of terrorists as the Iranian-backed Shia-jihadi group was in the middle of a military conflict with Israel, which it provoked by relentlessly firing rockets at Israel since October 8, 2023, following Hamas’s attack.

Israeli intelligence suggests that Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah personally witnessed exploding pagers blow up his terror operatives next to him as he sat deep inside a Beirut bunker. Less than two weeks after the pager operation, Nasrallah was himself eliminated in an Israeli airstrike on his underground bunker complex in southern Beirut.

Replacing ‘hackable’ mobile phones with ‘hacker-proof’ pagers was Hezbollah chief Nasrallah’s idea, who wanted his terrorist command structure to ‘fly under the radar’ with a low-tech device.

Hezbollah reportedly paid an Israeli shell company to acquire explosive-laden pagers. The Mossad front company tailor-made those pagers for Hezbollah, advertising them as rugged devices made to withstand the rigors of combat.

I heard Trump gave Netanyahu a golden bullet from Johnston Pa.

The pager operation was epic, used on stupid people who falsely believe they will get 72 virgins, them losing faces, fingers hands thighs, and most important their gonads.

A golden pager? That’s a beautiful thing.

I winced when I read this news, it recalled the Godfather scene where Batista? was gifted / bribed with a solid gold desk phone. Or alternately the recent mosad exploding phone op.

I doubt Trump will ever take the phone with him like Bill & Hillary packing to move out, or it actually is an exploding version, but talk about bad optics…..

moonmoth in reply to BobM. | February 5, 2025 at 9:03 pm

Bad optics indeed. A few more blunders like this from President Trump, and the Dems will take back the House 21 months from now.

Al Jazeera now reports that the Bibas wife and sons are dead. They murdered the children they took hostage.

        ‘From President trump’?
It’s bibi who picked out the gift.
        Grant bibi some agency here.

moonmoth in reply to BobM. | February 6, 2025 at 7:13 am

I do recognize that Bibi has agency. I also recognize that he’s a sociopath.

          Really?!!! How so, exactly?

Please explain why you think civilians in the Gaza Strip (assuming there are any actual innocent civilians at all) deserve more consideration than German civilians did in WW2.

Milhouse, did you really mean to reply to ME here – cause I don’t think I said anything here or elsewhere implying the Gazans who voted in and continue to support Hamas are innocent bystanders.

If Trump can convince any of the neighboring Muslim states to consent to take in these toxic “refugees” into their land, next trick is to convince frogs it’s safe to give scorpions a lift across bodies of water.

Problem is Israel doesn’t really want to “final solution” the Gazans, the Gazans DO want to “final solution” Israel, and history teaches that taking Palestinian “refugees” refuge is like the proverbial frog and scorpion, the scorpion will do what a scorpion does even if it’s suicide.

BobM, the reply was to moonmoth’s comment immediately above it.

It was truly sick of Bibi to present that gift, and even more so for President Trump to accept it, with such praise. This sociopathic show will end any doubts that President Trump is serious about creating lebensraum in Gaza for Bibi et al.

The Gaza DMZ with valet parking.

    WINNING.

moonmoth in reply to Tiki. | February 5, 2025 at 10:00 pm

As Abe Lincoln once said, “The hen is the wisest of all the animal creation, because she never cackles until after the egg has been laid.”

President Trump’s Gaza plan has infuriated most of the rest of the world — even Jordan, the cocker spaniel of the Middle East.

This isn’t likely to turn out well.

The only way it turns out well is if this is a gambit to force Egypt, Jordan et al to step up..

Milhouse in reply to moonmoth. | February 6, 2025 at 7:49 am

Jordan is hardly a “cocker spaniel”. It continues to be a vicious Jew-hating nazi regime, whose “peace treaty” has produced absolutely no benefits to Israel, and which has for many years knowingly and willingly sheltered the vicious terrorist Ahlam Tamimi despite repeated extradition demands by the USA.

moonmoth in reply to Milhouse. | February 6, 2025 at 8:53 am

Coming from a person like you, who believes that Gazans are vermin who deserve Dresden 2.0, that vitriolic outburst against Jordan is quite ironic. And the US itself cozies up to (and handsomely pays) Islamic terrorists whenever it suits us to do so.

moonmoth in reply to Milhouse. | February 6, 2025 at 10:19 am

Also, Milhouse, the rest of the world is onto the US’s machiavelian game of screaming about Islamic terrorists while simultaneously financing them under the table to destabilize other countries.

Milhouse in reply to Milhouse. | February 6, 2025 at 9:57 pm

Moonmoth, first of all as a point of information “Dresden 2.0” was not me, it was ahad haamharatzim.

Second, you probably think Dresden 1.0 was undeserved too. As well as all the other bombing of Germany that won us the war. If not, then I’m waiting for you to explain why you think civilians in the Gaza Strip (assuming there are any actual innocent civilians there at all) deserve more consideration than did German civilians in WW2.”

Third, it is an objective and easily verified fact that the Jordanian population has remained exactly as hostile to Israel and to Jews as it was when Jordan joined several genocidal wars to wipe Israel out. Even the so-called “peace treaty” is rejected by almost all Jordanians.

Fourth, it is also an objective and easily verified fact that the government, which does officially recognize its peace treaty, also remains as hostile as it was before the treaty, and Israel is no better off with the treaty than it was without it, and is worse off by the value of all the water it gives Jordan under the treaty. None of the benefits predicted for the treaty have materialized.

Fifth, the population of the Gaza Strip (who are not “Gazans”) is composed 100% of nazis whose highest priority is to wipe out the Jews. Those who oppose Hamas support Fatah or some other faction that is equally descended from the National Socialist German Workers Party and its allies, or that shares its attitude to the Jews. There is nobody in the Gaza strip over the age of five who does not subscribe to this program; they differ only over details. There is nobody in the Gaza strip old enough to assist in this program who does not do so when called upon.

Thus they are all enemies of Israel and in war you kill your enemies; unfortunately the Israeli government, while knowing all these facts, refuses to face them and continues to subscribe to foolish leftist ideology that anyone who is not actively shooting at you at any given moment is a “civilian” and their lives matter more than those of your own soldiers.

What am I up to? OK, sixth: The USA does not finance Islamic terrorists. But bear in mind that there are circumstances when it would be appropriate to do so. Or do you think we were wrong to help the USSR in its war against Germany, or to solicit the Mafia’s help against Italy? In war you take your allies where you can find them, so it can easily be that one day we may find it in our interest to finance Islamic terrorists. If you want to claim that the Mujahedeen in Afghanistan were Islamic terrorists, then yes, we financed them and we’d do it again, because the enemy was the USSR. (But it is wrong to claim that we funded the Taliban, as Michael Moore infamously claimed.)

No, I’m not JR. I’ve posted repeatedly that I voted for Trump, and support many things that he’s doing, especially purging the Deep State, militarizing our southern border, and deporting illegals.

However, regulars here have jumped to the conclusion that I’m an enemy just b/c I don’t always sing along with your amen chorus. Some of you have even told me to leave.

But y’all aren’t a cult here — oh no; perish the thought.

That’s not true. We’re critical of you because you appear to be too dim to realize that Trump regularly makes such outrageous statements to stake out a position from which serious negotiations can result. This is not news. Yet it seems you’ve never received it, or you’ve decided to ignore it. The Gaza statement posed a question to the world – “If you don’t like my idea, what’s you’re brilliant idea and will you put your money where your mouth is?”

moonmoth in reply to DaveGinOly. | February 5, 2025 at 9:12 pm

CincyJan in reply to moonmoth. | February 6, 2025 at 4:29 pm

I am glad you voted for Trump. We need every vote we can get. When it comes to domestic affairs, I think we may be in synch.

However, I have no sympathy for any entity involved in Hamas barbaric raid on Israel civilians or friendly to anyone involved. It became clear as time went on that this was initially designed to be a hostage taking raid, given the Israeli focus on returning prisoners or their bodies to Israel, but Hamas discipline is very poor. Given the outburst of international support for murdering rapists and baby killers, this was all carefully planned by an entity with greater smarts and sophistication than Hamas ever had.

Israel was caught completely flatfooted. That had to be a huge hit to Israeli morale. How could any Israeli feel safe, surrounded as they are by deadly enemies, and apparently capable of being completely fooled by those enemies. The beauty of the cell phone trick was that Israel reassurred itself that it could operate with impunity. Finally! A boost to a badly beaten morale. Sure, Israeli struck back at leaders before this, but this was an imaginative tactic that taught all pro-Palestinian groups to be afraid. To be very afraid.

What’s sick is us funding the Palestinians to murder Israelis, which our government has been doing for generations, including Americans with dual citizenship. That’s disgusting and sick. Hezbollah murdering thousands of civilians in Lebanon and Syria is sick and disgusting. Hezbollah killing innocent civilians in the US embassy in Beirut is disgusting and on and on and on. But you are worried about the terrorists dying. Poor little Hezbollah, being hindered in their ability murder more people. What will they ever do?

To be fair, it isn’t right for us to pay Palestinian terrorists to kill other Palestinians either. I agree with you but you’re understating both the problem and your case.

You are under the assumption that Palestinians are a united people . They are not. You are talking about people who readily murder each other because the only unifying principle they have is hate for Jews . I was discussing Hezbollah by the way who is not the same thing as the Palestinians. Hezbollah and Hamas and the PLo are only again the same in their hatred of Jews outside of that they would happily all murder each other for power, money , control etc etc. the monolithic presentation of these groups by the media is meaningless to the actual reality of disparate groups with different interests and political aspirations.

schmuul in reply to TopSecret. | February 5, 2025 at 7:54 pm

It was funny and it was intentional and purposeful to let Hezbollah and more honestly Iran know that we will win and civilized countries will find a way to end their constant campaign of terror and destabilization. It’s biblical really what he did saying we have the tools to end you and yes we will flaunt it. Kind of reminds me of a passage out of the Torah when G-D promises he will not let our enemies rejoice over our deaths but will give us the tools to fight back. This was Bibi saying we have the tools and you can celebrate your fake victories all you want, but we know how to get to you!

Note that the pager attack was pretty long after they started getiing put into the market. There had to be a few problems with some of them but, because they were custom made, would have had to be returned to the manufacturer and an internal bomb never discovered. Cool!

Wonder if any moderators could/would compare IP addresses from both to see if posts are made from the same IP address or not. Either way it would be nice if LI moderators would deal with the disruptive comment trolls. It’s getting very tiresome going through screens of troll comments and responses just to find the relevant comments for any given post.

Some gifts you may internally grimace at but for the sake of politeness must accept. Think a maiden aunt’s gift of a wrong sized hand knitted sweater or Thailand’s gift of a live elephant. The sweater may be worn the only time next time the aunt visits. The elephant was regifted to the National Zoo I believe.

Please explain what you think was sick about the gift, let alone “sociopathic”. Are you seriously suggesting that Israel did something wrong in the pager operation?! It was a brilliant and successful operation, and Netanyahu has every reason to be proud of it and celebrate it. And since Trump justly admires it, he surely appreciates being given a memento of it. I don’t understand what exactly your objection is.

Yeah, you’d pretty much get the Block hammer at this point, if it were available on LI.
You’re proving yourself to be a thoroughly awful person.

This will should be treated as all gifts to presidents are: put into the national archives at the end of his term. Except in this case I wouldn’t be surprised that a follow-on democratic president might simply have it destroyed out of spite.

It will be in a faraday cage – just in case.

Milhouse in reply to PhillyWatch. | February 6, 2025 at 10:15 pm

Unless he wants to buy it.

Note that the constitution does not restrict a president or vice president from receiving gifts from foreign governments, or require them to ask Congress for permission. Accordingly I am not sure that the Foreign Gifts and Declarations Act, as it applies to the President and Vice President (5 USC 7342 (a)(1)(E)) is valid. It sees to be premised on the idea that the constitution’s foreign emoluments clause applies to them, but it doesn’t. Still, presidents ever since have complied with it, and I see no reason to suppose that Trump won’t.

Bibi has balls

Many thought the pager attack barbaric. What nobody has considered is how many civilian casualties it would have cost for the IDF to put as many Hezbollah fighters out of commission in actual combat. The operation caused some civilian casualties, but far fewer than if Hezbollah’s combat power hadn’t been so damaged before the Lebanon war went fully kinetic.

W I n n I n g

No illegal immigrant should feel safe anywhere in the United States.

And no Hezbollah or Hamas agent should feel safe anywhere in the world.

Unless they’re willing to repent, nobody should feel obligated to forgive them.

From the liver to the knee…

What a perfect gfift! Perfect that it was a pager, perfect that it was in gold! Well deserved after the barbaric bloodbath of October 7.

I do worry about Netanyahu. He has been under a tremendous strain, which I think will only get worse as the Gaza problem is solved, and Israel will have to face the extraordinary failure of intelligence which allowed them to be caught by such surprise. It took up to seven hours for help to arrive in some areas. The first help to arrive were individuals who received calls for help from family members, so they threw their guns in their cars and started driving. In this case cell phones sent out the first calls for help.
