Politico, New York Times, BBC Received Government Funds

Politico, New York Times, BBC Received Government Funds

The funds also come from other government agencies.

We found out that USAID and other government agencies gave Politico over $34,000,000. More info is coming out, including funds for the New York Times and the BBC.

I hate to disappoint you, but this will *not* be a freakout conspiracy theorist post even though I can understand why people have done so across social media.

That money supposedly paid for subscriptions, including “pro” versions. I looked up Politico Pro, but you have to talk to someone about a payment plan. Politico Pro offers you:

Elevate your organization’s policy objectives with POLITICO Pro, the ultimate policy intelligence platform for government affairs and public policy experts.

Make a greater impact with access to

  • Current congressional, federal agency, and state directories
  • Bill tracker and AI-generated bill summaries
  • Regulatory tracker and insights

  • Policy intelligence and legislative research tools
  • One centralized hub to orchestrate activities across the business

Take the first step towards leveraging exclusive news, expert insights, and innovative technology to inform your organization’s government relations strategy and improve advocacy effectiveness.

Bonchie at RedState said some of those pro plans could cost over $10,000. My friend Scott did some math and said it could be as much as $14,000 a user.

It would not shock me if subscription plans cost that much.

I also wonder why government agencies need these subscriptions. I guess to stay updated on information like we all do.

We know that the government has a problem with audits, so it would not shock me if these agencies had multiple subscriptions because they forgot they had one.

I can also see how the conspiracy theories started. However, the one where the glitch caused the delay in paychecks doesn’t seem connected.

But we all know Politico has a left-leaning bias. Two former Politico writers confirmed that editors squashed stories about Hunter Biden’s laptop.

Dare I suggest that these subscriptions are money laundering?

    Democrats need their Pravda.

henrybowman in reply to Petrushka. | February 5, 2025 at 4:05 pm

It’s so obvious. It’s the same as the “politician’s book deal” scam. A large amount of money — the amount can be set to any level you like — changes hands for a nebulous service that is left to evaporate.

mailman in reply to Petrushka. | February 5, 2025 at 4:05 pm

    I hope someone is looking at these subscriptions with a view to;
    – firing who ever authorised them,
    – investigating going after these payments as money laundering operations.
    – getting the money back.
    – Closing down the money laundering organisations that received the money.
    – Putting people behind bars!

Dare I suggest a Grand Jury investigation?

Payment for services rendered. Premium propaganda ain’t cheap.

There is already a congress bill tracker w summaries, and don’t agencies already have a directory?

This looks like access for lobbying. Why would an agency need lobbying tools?

Also, wait until we see what they paid Bloomberg. Bloomberg subscriptions are an order of magnitude more expensive.

I wonder how many premium streaming subscriptions the US federal government is paying for each month: Disney, CNN, NBC, Apple+, Netflix, etc, etc. If they’re paying Politico millions, what might they be paying these streaming services which generally charge significantly more than a newspaper/periodical charges.

AbrahamFroman in reply to TargaGTS. | February 5, 2025 at 3:38 pm

Not just the streaming services, but the studios and networks themselves. It’s being reported that USAID paid for dozens of ‘celebrities’ to travel to Ukraine for photo-ops with Zelensky in order to raise his standing and approval here. If they’re in the celebrity paying business, it doesn’t take a lot of imagination to envision a scenario where they pay the studios directly to produce content favorable to their message.

Hmm: do “journalistic ethics” require them to disclose the financial support they receive from the entity they are covering? Asking for a friend.

FEC and Hatch Act violations.

Subscriptions have been cancelled. That didn’t take long.

The old days: Government does stuff, and you media people can write about, then sell it to your customers.

NWO days: Media writes about stuff, and you govt. people can read it as ‘how-to’ manuals, then force taxpayers to fund the privilege.

Samantha Power, the current head of USAID since 2021, belongs in prison.

The most interesting thing about all this is the lack of denials.

No one should be surprised to learn that Deep State/D.C. Swamp Dhimmi-crats are using taxpayer money to fund their own propaganda mouthpieces and echo chambers.

I’m reminded of the fact that the FBI and prominent Dhimmi-crats used a well-worn tactic to advance the Clinton/Obama “Russia Collusion” hoax/slander/sabotage dirty tricks — they’d contact a trusted “reporter” at NY Times, WaPo, Politico or similar Dhimmi-crat media outlet, leak some information on the FBI’s “investigation” of President Trump that was damaging to him, and, then, when the story appeared in print, these same reprobates would cite the very propaganda piece that they’d helped to sow, as alleged “evidence” of Trump’s malfeasance.

Andrew McCabe used a similar tactic, in a different way — he called agents at the FBI’s New York City office, to berate them for leaks that he, himself, was responsible for.

These Dhimmi-crats are all greasy and vile snakes.

The gravy train(s) are being systematically derailed by DOGE and the grifter class is being exposed. That is why they are so infuriated.

I’m just one guy, but…

I worked for ten years on two different intelligence watches as the Senior Watch Officer and I was a big consumer of news.

I never was told that we could access these news sites via subscription and I definitely never heard that we had access to a Politico PRO plan.

USAID is a rounding error in the budget.

Ironclaw in reply to Petrushka. | February 5, 2025 at 3:13 pm

Is that supposed to be an excuse for wasting our tax money and giving it to communist propagandists?

henrybowman in reply to Petrushka. | February 5, 2025 at 4:08 pm

Maybe, but nothing in that statement proves that the percentage of fraud in its budget is atypical of any other agency,

CommoChief in reply to henrybowman. | February 5, 2025 at 4:22 pm

The propaganda benefits it provided along with the direct funding of wokiesta leftist groups/individuals were far out of proportion to the cost. Removing those is gonna leave a hole in d/prog abilities.

mailman in reply to Petrushka. | February 5, 2025 at 4:09 pm

This is only after 30 seconds of looking. Imagine what else is out there in those other much larger Government operations!!

Start adding those all in and it’s a fuck load more than just a rounding error 🤬

CommoChief in reply to Petrushka. | February 5, 2025 at 4:19 pm

Waste/abuse of taxpayer funds to siphon off tax dollars and award them to ideological/partisan entities is wrong. It’s mal administration whether it was 1$ or 1$ trillion.

Moreover the ’rounding error’ or ‘its a small amount’ argument is why we can’t get spending cuts. Cut the small BS then with that excuse out of the way go after the much more difficult bigger programs who have far wider political support b/c so many have their snout in that trough.

inspectorudy in reply to Petrushka. | February 5, 2025 at 4:48 pm

I meant to down vote not up but I missed the little icon. You are right about the amount of money but wrong about its importance. This confirms all we suspected about Obama and Biden and their depth of corruption. The Demo party is totally without ethics or honor. They cheat and lie about everything they are involved in.

MarkS in reply to Petrushka. | February 5, 2025 at 5:20 pm

Oh, don’t start with that crap! Politico got $34 million, and it’s a rounding error? How about if I underpay my income tax by $3400, would the IRS ignore that as a rounding error?

And now we see who is truly state-owned media.

Government waste at its finest. They likely would have done the bidding for free.

$34.3 million to Politico? That doesn’t sound like a “free” press to me. Fortunately, journalistic ethics would prevent any influence on Politico’s reporting or editorial content.

Stop stop stop stop!!!!! I can only handle so much winning.

oh ok….maybe just a wafer thin mint more.

Many many years ago, with the Contract With America, Newt Gingrich promised us that he would defund the left. He didn’t even make a dent.

DOGE has made a tiny dent. May that good work continue for a long time.

Andy in reply to irv. | February 5, 2025 at 6:55 pm

    If you haven’t …. read/listen to Elon’s book.

    These grifter organizations are f***ed.

    The dude is not normal.

I’m a workhorse and honestly the dollar amount required for me to go work for him and tolerate that abuse would be astronomical.

The Twitter firings is the model he’s going to use here. It was savage.

How much of the USAID money that went to foreign countries, NGOs, and US media entities was kicked back to Congressmen and Senators?

caseoftheblues | February 6, 2025 at 12:09 am

Lots….as did the majority of “funding for Ukraine”…. Can’t wait for DOGE to hit that pile of grift
