Donald Trump Pardons 1500 J6 Prisoners, Continuing to Look at Six Commutations

He ushered it out of the room so they could be released now.

President Donald Trump just signed an executive order giving pardons to all 1500 January 6th prisoners:

This proclamation ends a grave national injustice that has been perpetrated upon the American people over the last four years and begins a process of national reconciliation.

Acting pursuant to the grant of authority in Article II, Section 2, of the Constitution of the United States, I do hereby:

(a) commute the sentences of the following individuals convicted of offenses related to events that occurred at or near the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021, to time served as of January 20, 2025:

—-

(b) grant a full, complete and unconditional pardon to all other individuals convicted of offenses related to events that occurred at or near the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021;

The Attorney General shall administer and effectuate the immediate issuance of certificates of pardon to all individuals described in section (b) above, and shall ensure that all individuals convicted of offenses related to events that occurred at or near the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021, who are currently held in prison are released immediately. The Bureau of Prisons shall immediately implement all instructions from the Department of Justice regarding this directive.

I further direct the Attorney General to pursue dismissal with prejudice to the government of all pending indictments against individuals for their conduct related to the events at or near the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021. The Bureau of Prisons shall immediately implement all instructions from the Department of Justice regarding this directive.

The order starts immediately. He ushered it out of the room so they could be released now.

“We hope they come out tonight,” Trump told the press.

Now drag the J6 lynch mob who was pardoned in to make public what a lynching this really was and then prosecute them if they lie… since they can’t take the 5th.

Groundhog Day in reply to Andy. | January 20, 2025 at 8:34 pm

Well, he can’t prosecute them criminally – but he can make them “liable” financially, like they did with this crazy NYC woman…

I’d like to see that “preemptive pardon” stuff tested before SCOTUS. I have serious doubts that being pardoned for actions no one knows about and before being charged or a trial will stand up. Pam Bondi should go after it and keep that in the news.

100% agree. Those are not “pardons” but are attempted grants of immunity, which the Constitution does not permit any President to issue.

Slightly off topic, a heard one Democrat say that a pardon was granted to a rioter who pooped on Nancy Pelosi’s desk. Any truth to that?

Goose, gander, if it’s OK for Biden, which the press and (D)s look to be, then why the difference?

As to the poop attack, online google both returns reports of such a mad pooper and a satirical “art” installation memoralizing the event which supposedly was on display at the national mall in DC – with a guard no less. Like the first flower of spring incident in a Babylon 5 episode. Were they worried someone else would “add” to the installation one wonders?

Had a staff sgt who bragged of pooping IN an officer’s desk he hated. (Many years earlier, he was a retread).

As to a putative pardon, supposedly the mad pooper only received a year’s probation and a fine, so not sure any pardon would’nt be p(m)oot.

Cassidy Hutchinson was not pardoned, so lean on her to spill on Liz and others

by ‘public lynching’, you mean trial by a jury of their peers. Stop with the stupid redhat cliches already.

From the side that uses EVERY single racist, sexist, homophobe, transphobe, Nazi & Fascist and Threat To Democracy cliche? You LOST, Leftist. Sit down & be quiet.

      Ford in reply to tjv1156. | January 21, 2025 at 8:38 am

No, I’m pretty sure they meant what they said. Stop being such a pussy, Mr. tjv1156…

      Hodge in reply to tjv1156. | January 21, 2025 at 9:28 am

If the Left is allowed to use normalizing euphemisms which don’t clearly convey what the truth is – say, “mostly peaceful demonstrations” substituting for “riot”; or “Minor-Attracted Person” for pedophile; or “Woman” for a dude who wears a wig and a bra, surely we are allowed to do the same albeit in the opposite direction, where

“Public Lynching” actually means a full and fair trial by objective-minded peers, conviction after said trial, and imprisonment for an appropriate term up to and including ‘Life without parole’.

Certainly no one here wishes a quick and relatively painless death for anyone confirmed to be involved or implicated. A good very long term in a cold cell with a stainless-steel toilet is what is actually meant.

no- by public lynching I mean criminalizing political dissent and freedom of assembly that is protected by the constitution.

      Obie1 in reply to tjv1156. | January 21, 2025 at 2:29 pm

As I’m sure you are aware, the phrase “jury of one’s peers” does not appear in the Constitution.

Whenever the subject here turns to the permanent psychological dysfunction of a small but solid segment of the voting public, I often mention that S&M clubs aren’t shuttering themselves for lack of M members.

TJV keeps coming back here to post his lame drivel and get dragged. Case in point.

A good start, please keep it up President Trump.

“Look at the sky!”
The women looked; the frosted glass was cracking, breaking, curling aside.
“The blue! The blue sky of old times!”
A terribly bright light burnt down, seared their eyes. The rays warmed their naked backs.
“The sun,” they said in awed voices. “The sun has come back to Earth.”
The shrouded sky was gone; the sun rode proud and bright in a sea of blue. The ground below churned, cracked, heaved, solidified. They felt the obsidian harden under their feet; its color shifted to glossy black. The Earth, the sun, the galaxy, had departed the region of freedom; the other time with its restrictions and logic was once more with them.
“This is Old Earth,” cried Finn. “We are Men of Old Earth! The land is once again ours!”
“And what of the Organisms?”
“If this is the Earth of old, then let the Organisms beware!”
–Jack Vance, The Men Return

We don’t do political prisoners.

Next go after the judges that perpetrated this fraud and committed judicial malfeasance. Everyone of these judges in the DC circuit knew these people were overcharged. In fact the easy way is to defund said judges positions in the DC circuit. Reign in these abusive jurists.

Good now it is well past time for the pro-life activists.

I understand 6 jets are ready to take the American jan 6 hostages home…

>>(a) commute the sentences of the following individuals convicted of offenses related to events that occurred at or near the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021, to time served as of January 20, 2025<<

So why didn't Trump pardon the convicted and have their criminal convictions expunged from the record instead of leaving them hanging with federal criminal convictions for the rest of their lives. Does Trump actually believe they are guilty and not deserving of a pardon?

They will get full pardons, give it a few days

Lucifer Morningstar in reply to gonzotx. | January 21, 2025 at 1:43 pm

So why didn’t he just pardon them with all the others. That would have been the simple thing to do. But he didn’t do it. So the questions is, what did these fourteen people do to piss off Trump so badly he refused to give them a blanket pardon but only commuted their sentences leaving them burdened with a federal criminal record and the consequences therefrom for the rest of their lives.

I highly doubt he’s going to pardon the fourteen any time soon, if ever.

He pardoned 1500 people. The commutations are for 14 people.

Lucifer Morningstar in reply to NotCoach. | January 21, 2025 at 1:38 pm

14 people now fecking stuck with federal criminal records and the consequences of having that record for the rest of their lives. So what the heck did they do to piss off Trump to be singled out that way.

Did you miss the part where he pardoned 1500 people convicted of crimes at or near the capitol?

Lucifer Morningstar in reply to Ford. | January 21, 2025 at 1:36 pm

Did you miss the part where he only commuted the convictions of 14 people instead of giving them blanket pardon thus burdening them with a federal criminal record and all the consequences of that record for the rest of their lives?

So what did those people do to piss of Trump that he wouldn’t grant them a pardon.

Do you know the specifics of those 14? If there was actual violence or violation of a law, then perhaps they deserved a prison sentence albeit one less severe than they received.

Just read some poor guy has been in prison for 4 years and 4 days without a trial.

President Reagan is looking down and smiling.

I think I can see the shining city on the hill again.

What’s beautiful is that Biden enabled the pardoning of all his political prisoners and the left cannot touch Trump over this as the lefts hipocrasy will slap them upside the face with a tyre iron! 😂😂🤌

Irrespective of that these pardons ARE completely warranted because of the abuses of process and decency carried out by Bidens brown shirts!

This is what I wanted to see first.
All shouldn’t have had to go through this for their constitutional rights.
And many were savagely treated, I wished every one could read Gulag Archipelago to see they were not alone in this.

More from Trump bizarro world. The 1/6 insurrectionists were the good guys and the people who held them accountable were the bad guys.”the moron’ himself would have been convicted if the case had been allowed to go forward. Expect this level of abject stupidity for 4 years.

“Expect this level of abject stupidity for 4 years.”
    Now do Biden’s pardons, dingus.

You’re in for a rough ride these next four years, Johnny.

    Ford in reply to tjv1156. | January 21, 2025 at 8:46 am

I see your liberal tears are already flowing. Going to be a long four years for you and that severe TDS of yours. Looks like Daddy Trump is living rent free in that small brain of yours. Enjoy!🥰

    Milhouse in reply to tjv1156. | January 21, 2025 at 9:43 am

Yes, that’s right, the 1/6 “insurrectionists” were the good guys and the people who “held them accountable” were the bad guys.

mrrrreow…pssst, your penis envy is showing. He won’t date you, no matter how much you whine like a 7th grade girl whose unrequited crush has rejected her. BTW, hun, would you be so kind as to share the paperwork describing their charges as *insurrection*?

    Azathoth in reply to tjv1156. | January 21, 2025 at 11:27 am

Expect this level of abject stupidity for 4 years.

Indeed, you are abysmally stupid. And we expect you to remain so for the next four years, as you have steadfastly remain your whole leftist life.

One cannot BE a leftist without adhering to the pursuit of stupidity.

    Virginia42 in reply to tjv1156. | January 22, 2025 at 3:25 pm

Is the abject stupidity in the room with us right now?

Only if you hang around for the next four years.

I wonder how a pardon restores a destroyed business that was sold for lawyer and living costs.

I wonder how a pardon restores a broken family.

I wonder how long if ever does it take to restore the relationship with his daughter who had a four year college scholarship but dropped out of high school and won’t go to college over the stress of all of this on the family.

I wonder how long it will take for the system to fix itself so he can vote, buy a gun, get his needed medical care from the VA, and get his pension.

I wonder how the pardon somehow makes up for four years of stress, pain and BS from the media.

That is why it is critical to investigate the J6 committee, exposing every illegality of the process. We already know that they destroyed evidence, withheld exculpatory evidence, suborned perjury of their *witnesses*, some of whom were blatantly tampered with, a la Liz Cheney. This should allow for civil lawsuits.

Excellent. Pardon the 99% who did nothing more than enter the building, some not even that and where many were more/less ushered in. Then evaluate the other tiny slice of cases offered a commutation for a potential pardon. That is how it should work, an evaluation of the facts on the cases before granting a pardon as opposed to what Biden did in handing out pardons like Oprah to her audience.
