Trump Appoints Former ICE Director Tom Homan as Border Czar
Homan doesn’t BS or hold back. He’s my kind of guy.
President-elect Donald Trump chose former ICE Director Tom Homan as his border czar.
Trump made the announcement on Truth Social:
I am pleased to announce that the Former ICE Director, and stalwart on Border Control, Tom Homan, will be joining the Trump Administration, in charge of our Nation’s Borders (“The Border Czar”), including, but not limited to, the Southern Border, the Northern Border, all Maritime, and Aviation Security. I’ve known Tom for a long time, and there is nobody better at policing and controlling our Borders. Likewise, Tom Homan will be in charge of all Deportation of Illegal Aliens back to their Country of Origin. Congratulations to Tom. I have no doubt he will do a fantastic, and long awaited for, job.
Homan is a fantastic choice. Not only do I love his tough border positions, but he doesn’t BS like me. Straight to the point.
Remember this exchange with AOC? It’s glorious:

Does he have to be confirmed by the Senate or is he far enough down the ladder to be safe?
IIRC, a “czar” is not a Cabinet position, so does not need Senate confirmation.

There are plenty of levers to enforce compliance; HUD funds, for one. Fed education money for another.

Just a nit pick – Trump cant appoint anyone until he is president. Thus the headline should be Trump “will” appoint

Two points. First the position of ‘Border Czar’ is not an actual position that requires a Senate confirmation such as Sec Def. Secondly this is exactly how Trump should go about all issues; appoint a ‘__Czar’ for each major issue area as Counselor to the President or some such.
Use these folks as the ‘kitchen cabinet’ to hold reluctant Department/Agencies accountable. So if the folks at DHS slow walk some border security policy directive send the ‘Border Czar’ over there with instructions to get it implemented or bring the reluctant SES bureaucrat to the Oval office to explain why he shouldn’t be put on a flight to Arctic Command when Trump is finished listening to the 60 seconds he will get to explain himself. Then take his ass to Andrews AFB and put them on a flight to FT Richardson Alaska. Right flipping then, no phone calls, no packing a bag, instant and immediate transfer …or they can voluntarily resign right there/right then and get escorted to out the WH Gate instead.
Not to nit-pick, but Biden appointed a border Czar who was as useful as a screen door on a submarine. So, I submit to you that it doesn’t matter that Biden was pResident when he made the appointment, it was a failure.

Good job Homan. I can embellish his point. Ever visit someone in a woman’s prison? It’s an emotional experience. There is a common area full of mothers and children, and sometimes visiting husbands. Family separation! Little kids crying for their mothers. It got to me. I nearly broke down. Woman prisoners are separated from their babies at birth. At one time, and perhaps still, mothers gave birth in shackles.
AOC is another piece of work out of NYC who has her own personal legal system independent of the one that exists. If you get deported, you take your children back to the home country. You are supposed to apply for entry to the US in the first safe place. That’s usually Mexico. Mexico is not a war zone. Going further, why is the US obligated to admit asylum seekers? It that in the constitution? Japan admits less than a dozen per year, and somehow that’s ok but the US lacks the same right of sovereignty.

Can it really be true that Mexico is the “FIRST safe place” between Venezuela and here? Not to mention China, Haiti, or the Middle East and here? It’s a place so unsafe I no longer even visit it, and I’m practically in the border zone. There are places in South America that I’d actually consider visiting sooner than Mexico.
