Kari Lake: “If you want to get to President Trump, you’re going to have to go through me and 75 million Americans just like me. And most of us are card-carrying members of the NRA.”

“That’s not a threat, that’s a public service announcement”

Failed 2022 Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake spoke in Georgia on Friday, and one of her comments is getting a lot of attention.

This might be red meat for the Trump base, but it’s also ammunition for the Democrats as it plays right into their “mega-MAGA terrorists” narrative.

Needless to say, people have thoughts.

I liked Kari Lake when she was running for Governor of Arizona, and I do think she was cheated out of the win. BUT this is dumb. The Left has been trying to bait the right into a real insurrection ever since the fake one on January 6, 2021 and this kind of nonsense plays right into that.

    leolds124 in reply to Othniel. | June 10, 2023 at 2:57 pm

That’s right; we can all stand around and complain with our thumbs up our asses because we don’t want to antagonize the left. That is a winning strategy.

henrybowman in reply to Othniel. | June 10, 2023 at 3:54 pm

If so, the left needs to recalibrate their monofilament test rating.
    J6 was a sucker bet.
When the right finally does decide to restore the constitution, we will be bringing something other than warpaint and buffalo horns.

Concise in reply to Othniel. | June 10, 2023 at 5:54 pm

Uh no. Kari Lake is bravely showing spirit and motivating people to oppose this country’s slide into a police state. She is not literally calling for an insurrection. The only people furthering such idiocy are hack leftists attempting their own real coup.

inspectorudy in reply to Concise. | June 10, 2023 at 11:23 pm

It’s called hyperbole. She needs to be careful with that kind of nonsense because it makes her later statements seem less credible. It’s also inciting at a time when we don’t need to jack up tension between the two sides. We can all agree that this whole thing is political but some of the charges are very serious. I don’t think any of the withholding classified papers will stand up but obstructing and lying to the FBI are another thing. We do not know the truth of any of these charges but it is better to wait and see what they are and how much evidence they have before ranting in public. Trump’s popularity is going up and there will be a crisis coming if he is convicted. There is no law against becoming POTUS from jail!

Concise in reply to inspectorudy. | June 11, 2023 at 10:37 am

Whether it is a crime to obstruct a non-crime is a theoretical legal question left to federal criminal law experts. But not for one second will I entertain the notion that this banana republic show trial is an example of a prosecutor pursuing justice. if Lavrentiy Beria charged some undesirables with obstruction, I would dismiss it as meritless.

Whitewall in reply to MattMusson. | June 10, 2023 at 5:29 pm

Many of us are accustomed to this on going battle with the ‘left’ and think nothing of this language. However. A great many young adults with kids are not used to any of this. They’ve probably paid little attention to what we have been talking about for so many years. They go vote and that’s it. Their time is devoted to work life, family life and community. If they are to be encouraged to organize and stay the course it will have to be in a way that once recruited they stay in the fight. A mom with a nine year old won’t want to hear about slinging lead, watering trees and that kind of rhetoric.

Concise in reply to Whitewall. | June 10, 2023 at 5:16 pm

Ridiculous. It does no such thing. Unless one is inclined to believe the BS dem caricature of a Trump supporter. She is motivating people at time when motivation is badly needed. We’re only facing, quite literally, the end of the constitutional rule of law.

Note to “democrats”: be careful what you wish for.

      Whitewall in reply to TheFineReport.com. | June 11, 2023 at 10:07 am

True enough. Democrats in many places are getting what they wish for and seem so confused as to why their quality of life has diminished. So they vote for even more of it, and so on. The Democrat will see nothing unless he first believes it.

She is trying to repay a perceived political debt to DJT and get some media face time in the transaction.

Antifundamentalist | June 10, 2023 at 1:42 pm

Okay. Kari Lake has officially lost any support that I would have been willing to give her. This kind of talk is EXACTLY what the left wants to use to label people as domestic terrorists and deprive them of their rights using terrorism as an excuse to do so.

    Shut the hell up.

They’re ALREADY labeling freaking parent groups protesting schools as ‘extremists’ and ‘terrorist organizations’. The DOJ has openly done this, using the SPLC as cover.

This idiotic idea that if the right just carefully avoids saying anything that could possibly be twisted by the left is just asinine. They will twist ANYTHING you say.

The left doesn’t care what you ACTUALLY say. They just want you to stay passive while they continue taking over the US.

why are the wishes of the left of such concern to you?

Antifundamentalist in reply to MarkS. | June 10, 2023 at 5:50 pm

They are a concern to me so far as enough of them are in power to re-enact November 9, 1938, targeting their political enemies. They are looking for excuses to bring it about. You push back against them absolutely, but you do it without stupid statements like Lake just made.

In Krystalnacht, mobs targeted a small _disarmed_ minority. If the left here is stupid enough to repeat that here and now, they’ll be sending mobs against the better-armed half of the US population. I don’t thing that will work out so well.

Bad news, Antifundamentalist: they’re going to re-enact November 9, 1938 no matter what we do. We might as well act while we still can.

I cannot believe you cited Kristallnacht as a reason not to antagonize the left. The Jews tried hard not to antagonize their German neighbors, and, yeah, that ended so well.

No. I just don’t want someone who’s going to put up well-meaning folks on our side to do something stupid like suicide by FBI. It is possible to use strong words to motivate people without sounding like you want folks to line up with guns and shoot anyone who tries to arrest Trump. Because that’s what her words sound like they’re suggesting.

CommoChief in reply to mailman. | June 10, 2023 at 7:15 pm

Open War? Send us the photos from the front lines of the combat zone with rounds flying back and forth where you are doubtless positioned given your rhetoric.

I don’t perceive what she said as a threat to violence, only a reminder that people are armed and we can be pushed too far.

We’ve recently encountered some mouthy threatening Karen types while out and about. There I am, carrying concealed, having to exercise level headedness and restraint enough for the both of us. It’s only natural I think to myself after such an incident if people ever consider that the person they’re threatening is armed and able to defend themselves with deadly force? It is precisely because people infer meaning and threat from a simple “public service announcement” that I keep my mouth shut and just smile. I could say “you are aware that WA is a concealed carry state, right?”

The way the libtard mind and lawfare works – the mere mention of “gun” is conflated to intimidation, threat, brandishing, etc. That’s horseshit of course. It’s a simple statement of fact – that the hearer construes in the worst possible way.

I wonder if the response to KL would be different if she had said nothing, but simply openly carried a sidearm. Would they have inferred the same “threat”? Are LEOs threatening because they open carry?

Seems to me if their “chicken little” routines are successful in silencing us about our basic rights (1A and 2A), they’ve already won. They ought be told to STFU about what KL said, because they can NOT prove intent with what she said. It is indeed a public service announcement – a simple statement of fact. If that frightens the chicken little libtards, tough shit. It’s truth. We’re armed. There’s no reason to fear us IF they let us live in peace / freedom as the constitution allows.

Dimsdale in reply to MrE. | June 10, 2023 at 2:34 pm

KL was speaking about defensive use of arms, while the left predictably makes everything associated with guns as offensive.

Except for the violence of black on black crime in leftists “utopias.”

There are only 5 million or fewer NRA members, like me.

But I don’t carry my card, because I don’t carry a wallet.

How terrible. Not really. The way people overreact is terrible. Not really. But it’s sad to watch. Jerry Springerish. It will change no minds, but reinforce already baked notions. Food for the Twitter crowd, for lack of a better definition. The daily fix. Only a few people will ever hear of this. Even here, it will be forgotten tomorrow. Except as fodder for some argument down the road.

Words are how to express nonviolently. People are rightly angry. This was no incitement. What comes from the other side, words and deeds, is exponentially worse. It would be too bad, however, if Lake turns into a crackpot because she’s not very accomplished, other than with her mouth.

So now when undercover agents in the crowd cause a “riot” in Miami, we all know how the media will play it.

News flash: the “progressive” Left already hates us and wants to lock us up away in gulags somewhere, and that hate didn’t suddenly manifest just because Kari Lake opened her mouth.

Every time a conservative farts, the Left will go into a frothing, rabid tizzy. We need to quit tiptoeing around these people as if our “good behavior” and polite speech will assuage them. They are out for blood, regardless of what we do or don’t do.

Get used to it, and prepare accordingly.

You understand that there are like 50 K of FBI agents and their are 60 M gun owners and 4 M NRA members. Why do you think they are working so hard for gun control. It is not to save lives.

henrybowman in reply to MarkSmith. | June 10, 2023 at 3:33 pm

    “4 M NRA members”
And that number is artificially low over the past four years because of management’s fiddle-f*g around with the members’ money (not to mention their rights). A lot of people have tossed their NRA cards, but they absolutely did not toss their guns… or their attitude.

That’s the leftist stereotype of MAGA types.

Actual MAGA types are more into rule by gentlemen’s agreements, and voting out those who aren’t.

This ranks as one of the stupidest comments ever made by any politician ever.

Worse than JB talking about kids stroking his hairy legs? Corn pop? Forgetting his wife’s name? Referring to Hunter as the smartest person he knows? Forgetting Obama’s name? Telling people he was running for senate while stumping for the presidency? Confessing that they’d assembled the biggest fraud network? Dude – JB has cornered the market on stupid.

“Too much of what’s happening in our country today is not normal. Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic,”

“MAGA Republicans have made their choice. They embrace anger. They thrive on chaos. They live not in the light of truth but in the shadow of lies,”

“For a long time, we’ve reassured ourselves that American democracy is guaranteed. But it is not. We have to defend it. Protect it. Stand up for it. Each and every one of us,”

“Democracy cannot survive when one side believes there are only two outcomes to an election: either they win, or they were cheated. And that’s where the MAGA Republicans are today.”

    Hmmm…..

If Ron DeSantis gets within shouting distance of the Republican nomination for President, won’t Danny be seen leading the hullabaloo over Ron’s most recent remarks?

Whatever they might be by then.

When getting Democrats into power and keeping them in power is the end, someone else or something else may have to become the means.

After all, Donald Trump and various of his supporters could lose their utility.

Name one god damned example of Ron DeSantis threatening violence with guns against the other side in order to interfere with law enforcement.

retiredcantbefired in reply to Danny. | June 11, 2023 at 1:46 pm

In order to interfere with law enforcement…

        Interesting phrase.

Could it be that you’re totally in favor of this little bit of “law enforcement”?

One might argue on pragmatic grounds that armed resistance against illegitimate “law enforcement” is imprudent. The matter is presently under debate here.

But just invoking law enforcement, as though the indictment is in any respect a legitimate application of law enforcement?

Who but a left-wing Democrat would do that?

Of course he is. Danny thrives on using concern trolling to oppose anything remotely opposed to the establishment Republicans.

Danny is not a troll, concern or otherwise. He’s much more moderate than most of us, but so what? He has a right to his views just as we do to ours.

I really dislike this attempt to paint people on our side who are not in lock-step with (frankly, often) fringe ideas as trolls. There is nothing trollish about speaking your mind. You might not like what’s on Danny’s mind, but that doesn’t make him a troll.

Do we really want to become that thing we hate? Do we really want to silence, mock, lambaste, and ridicule opposing voices on our own side for perceived wrongthink?

Trump and Lake are both election losers. But hey, their elections were stolen, just like what Al Gore, Hillary Clinton, and Stacey Abrams said about their elections.

Pretending there was election interference and rigging, especially with Trump in 2020, does not absolutely make it so, Start with Molly Ball’s article bragging about it. Pretenders get upset by questioning the anomolies and growing evidence of corruption. Oh well, glad it wasn’t stolen. Pretenders can assure us.

Of course, pretending there was NOT interference. Hard day at the keyboard.

Molly Ball’s article was about legal things done to persuade people to vote for Joe Biden.

You can’t avoid lying even when you are trying to be a condescending jackass.

Interference and rigging. Can be legal. People legally cheat all the time. Except in Fantasyland.

          You responded to this post

“Trump and Lake are both election losers. But hey, their elections were stolen, just like what Al Gore, Hillary Clinton, and Stacey Abrams said about their elections.”

In context yes you were claiming that Trump lost to voter fraud.

Always nice when someone tells you what you said, especially after you explain it once. How nice to know better.

Are you so thick you don’t think people will verify which post you responded to?

You implied Molly Ball verifies your claims about voter fraud (which are your claim, anyone who has seen your posts knows it) was a lie.

You decided to condescending, but you just proved yourself a liar.

Here is the post you responded to

“Trump and Lake are both election losers. But hey, their elections were stolen, just like what Al Gore, Hillary Clinton, and Stacey Abrams said about their elections.”

Care to back yourself up that Trump and Lake aren’t losers pretending they won like Al Gore and Stacey Abrams? The article you brought up does nothing of the sort.

No, you’re the “thick” one here. Quite.

Go tell someone else what they mean. In fact, why not just write comments for them! It’s pathetic.

Someone might read your comments and say you’re a Democratic apologist. Wouldn’t that be odd.

Again the post you were responding to wasn’t about was there election censorship it was about the election itself and stated Trump lost.

Your decision to contradict it yes it was telling people it was voter fraud and you lied to claim that it was admitted by Molly Ball.

You truly are thick if you either don’t think context matters, or that people could just go back and look at the post you replied to.

Are you acknowledging the 2020 election by the way or do you as you have in every single post you have ever written still maintain that it was all voter fraud and Trump won a landslide?

I am not giving you an uncharitable interpretation, nor am I attributing views to you that you do not hold (which is a lot more than I can say about you you have NEVER avoided attributing views to me that I don’t have period) and in context yes you contested that Trump lost so….

She just said you would take your gun and attack in order to prevent the legal process from playing out (and by the way people who did the same thing Trump did sat in prison during Trump’s administration).

I hear the horses’ thunder down in the valley below

Trump wanted Ronna Romney to head up the RNC, and he got his wish.

Did she actually show her NRA card?

I never wanted to be in their database.

I don’t like this comment from Kari. There are other unjust prosecutions, and other candidates in this primary. I think the Dems have made a terrible mistake and I want them to own it for decades, and we should not fuzz it up by risking prosecution and characterization as violent extremists.

I think that the House should impeach Merrick Garland and toss it to the Senate. Let the Dem senators have to decide if they support this prosecution by not removing Garland as AG.

Way too full of herself and not that smart.

I now officially love Kari Lake. She made the point that 75 million Americans voted for Trump, something Democrats would just as soon forget. She is standing up for us and I approve what she said.

Our Congressmembers are good at watching every word and being careful not to antagonize anyone (except MTG), and where has that gotten us? In the meantime, Nancy Pelosi sold the idea of a J6 insurrection, laid the body of a Capitol Policeman who died of a stroke on J7 in state in the Capitol, surrounded the Capitol with barbed wire, and called up the National Guard to keep Trump supporters out. It hasn’t been much better since then.

We basicallly lost the midterms, we were outmanuevered by rabid progressives … so what exactly are you guys afraid of? That they might charge Trump with felonies? That they will open up the southern border to any trash that walks through? That they will gut the military with their woke agenda? That they might sexualize children in the name of Queer Rights? Exactly what are you so afraid of?

Danny in reply to CincyJan. | June 12, 2023 at 11:16 pm

Out of those 75 million maybe 5 million are cultists like yourself, around 70 million are highly offended at the idea they would take up a gun against the idea of law enforcement against breaking a routinely enforced law.

Nobody thinks your right to keep classified documents you have no right to is the basis of our liberties.

Trump isn’t an enemy of the Democrats he is an enabler.

CincyJan in reply to Danny. | June 13, 2023 at 7:54 am

I’m old enough to realize there is always tension between former presidents and the National Archives. They each want the original documents – one for the national archives, one for presidential libraries. The only president that was not true of is Obama. His people digitalized all his documents, and the National Archives thanked him for it. You may think this is a cut and dried matter, but it isn’t. One current president had secret documents in a box in his garage behind his Corvette. A former Secretary of State had her own server in a closet with classified documents on it. I understand she wiped it down reguilarly with a dust cloth to maintain security. This is nothing but partisan politics carried to banana republic extremes. We “cultists” are not as easily manipulated as you sophisticated types.

The lass meant that all of us have . . . VOTES!!!!

America’s savior, the savior of Western civilization had laid down the gauntlet. Millions must now rise not just to his defense but the very defense of all that we value, all that we want to preserve, all that we want to pass on to our children. We will win this at the ballot box or in the streets, but win we must at all costs. Not wise to make a man who has 75 million supporters into a martyr . The most likely scenario is for Judge Cannon, appointed by Trump, and who has previously ruled in his favor on related matters, and to which this case has been assigned in Miami will dismiss the case and sanction Jack Smith and the DOJ for election interference. This will seal Trump’s election in 2024, and you can imagine the revenge Trump and his 75-100 million supporters will have on the Obiden Junta and their aiders and abetters. This is the fear that is causing them to tremble sleeplessly at night knowing that a jail cell and worse is likely in their near immediate future. Judge Cannon understands this scenario and looks forward to her appointment to SCOTUS by President Trump. The alternative scenario is civil war.

Danny in reply to Peter Floyd. | June 12, 2023 at 11:14 pm

What we value does not rely on Trump’s right to break an actively enforced law with no consequences, civil war rhetoric is as ugly from you as it is from antifa, and threatening the left with civil war…….if you believe a thing you wrote you need to be committed….immediately.

Interesting that 75 million Americans are card-carrying members of the NRA or even a majority of them, since the NRA has about 5 million members.
