Hospital Official Bemoans “Heart-Wrenching” Decision to Discontinue Child Gender Transition Services

Hospital Official Bemoans “Heart-Wrenching” Decision to Discontinue Child Gender Transition Services

The decision came after the Texas Legislature approved a bill barring gender transitioning procedures and treatments for children.

The President and CEO of Texas Children’s Hospital, Mark Wallace, informed workers of his “heart-wrenching” decision to “modify the gender-affirming care” offered to children at the hospital in response to Senate Bill 14. The bill bars “procedures and treatments for gender transitioning, gender reassignment, or gender dysphoria” and “the use of public money or public assistance” for the prohibited procedures and treatments.

Investigative journalist Christopher Rufo shared a screenshot of the email, which the Houston Chronicle authenticated. In the email, Wallace told recipients “that our mission is to create a healthier future for all children.”

The hospital’s decision came less than a week after Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced an investigation into Texas Children’s Hospital for possibly “actively engaging in illegal behavior and performing ‘gender transitioning’ procedures on children” in violation of existing Texas law. Paxton claimed the procedures “constitute child abuse under Texas law” and pledged his investigation would “uncover the truth.”

SB 14 prohibits “transitioning a child’s biological sex as determined by the sex organs, chromosomes, and endogenous profiles of the child or affirming the child’s perception of the child’s sex if that perception is inconsistent with the child’s biological sex.”

The bill bars “a physician or health care provider” from “perform[ing] a surgery that sterilizes the child,” including a list of enumerated procedures like castration and vaginoplasty, for the purpose of transitioning the child.

SB 14 likewise bars mastectomies, the use of infertility-inducing drugs like puberty blockers and hormones, and the removal of “any otherwise healthy or non-diseased body part or tissue” for the purpose of transitioning the child.

The bill makes exceptions for children who, with parental consent, seek procedures or treatments for precocious puberty and for children “born with a medically verifiable genetic disorder of sex development,” including those with chromosomal anomalies or those who possess “both ovarian and testicular tissue.”

SB 14 includes a temporary exemption for children continuing a course of prescription drug treatments for transitioning, provided those treatments began before June 1, 2023, and “the child attended 12 or more sessions of mental health counseling or psychotherapy during a period of at least six months before the date” treatment began. The bill requires weaning these children off their prescription treatments “in a manner that is safe and medically appropriate and that minimizes the risk of complications.”

SB 14 adds “perform[ing] a gender transitioning or gender reassignment procedure or treatment” to the Texas Occupations Code’s list of “prohibited practice[s]” for those “license[d] to practice medicine.” The Occupations Code, as amended, would mandate refusing to issue or renew a license to practice medicine and for license revocation for providing any of the prohibiting procedures or treatments.

On May 17, 2023, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed a similar bill into law. The new Florida law expands the definition of “serious physical harm” of a child to include “being subjected to sex-reassignment prescriptions or procedures as defined” by the law. The new Florida law also bars the use of state funds for these prescriptions or procedures.

The Texas bill passed both houses of the state legislature, which sent the bill to Texas Governor Greg Abbott on May 19, 2023. If signed, the bill would take effect on September 1, 2023.

Who ARE these people?

I’m truly amazed that none of these ‘doctors’ have wound up dead in a ditch, or fed to a passel of hogs, yet.

But I guess it makes sense. Like all child predators, they have a knack for zeroing in on those with weak, or nonexistent, family support systems.

They are the face of evil, and need to be dealt with accordingly. If the legal system fails to act, eventually people will take justice into their own hands.

And for the weak-ass c*nts in the censorship-industrial-complex, know that I am not advocating for vigilantism, merely making observations about human nature. So go f*ck yourselves.

These guys take the cake. The order always seems to be:
1. This is a conspiracy theory, we don’t do that stuff.
2. We sometimes do that stuff when medically necessary.
3. We do a lot of that stuff and it is a great thing.
4. Why do y’all want to hurt kids by forcing us to stop doing those things . Y’all are bigoted meanies.

Every damn time this is basically how it plays out with these leftist woke weirdos.

Dathurtz in reply to CommoChief. | June 1, 2023 at 9:56 am

Might be time to give a lot of credence to those “conspiracy theorists” and less credence to their detractors.

CommoChief in reply to Dathurtz. | June 1, 2023 at 10:44 am

Given the recent track record of the detractors continuing to rack up losses I’d agree. The half life of the conspiracy theories seems to be declining from 18 months to just a few weeks sometimes days.

Someday ask me for my rant about “Dodge City” and “blood in the streets over fender benders” every time any polity, anywhere, decides to relax its “gun control” laws.

It seems there are medical people who have a little Dr, Mengele, trying to get out.

Fat_Freddys_Cat in reply to The Gentle Grizzly. | June 1, 2023 at 12:04 pm

That’s what I was thinking. And I think the problem is not just “a few bad apples”; it looks more like we have a serious ethics problem in the healthcare community.

(This is not meant to let the Mengeles shift their responsibility onto the system, but rather that the people administering the system have a duty to keep the Mengeles out.)

    Yeah, that is so heart-wrenching.

It is distressing to lose a lucrative income stream with the potential for years of recurring transactions.

irv in reply to Martin. | June 1, 2023 at 11:30 am

Bingo! With the left, it’s always about the money. The more money is involved the more they will claim some kind of moral imperative to do it.

      Joe-dallas in reply to irv. | June 1, 2023 at 12:00 pm

Same with abortion – big income stream for the docs and planned parenthood

dont believe the lie that planned parenthood is a non-profit (not profit for income tax purposes only)

Over the next ten or twenty years, these hospitals will settle hundreds of medical negligence cases involving “gender affirmation care.” The terms and settlement amounts will be confidential! But a couple of these kids will win massive verdicts, sending shock waves through healthcare and personal injury circles across the country. Facing the prospect of defending thousands of individual suits and multiple class actions nationwide, these hospitals will seek a congressional remedy, principally in the form of a national legislative settlement. And they’ll get it (with bipartisan support).

JackinSilverSpring | June 1, 2023 at 11:00 am

Finally, a push back against the forced spread of the disease of gender dysphoria.

And this is why the billionaire globalists want Paxton out in Texas

Paxton fights, he’s real MAGA

It boggles my mind that there are actually people who are in favor of mutilating children. What in the absolue fuck!

    First time on the site?

the removal of “any otherwise healthy or non-diseased body part or tissue”

Don’t think about that too deeply.

They are morning the demise of their gold mine profit center!

The Gentle Grizzly | June 1, 2023 at 11:54 am

I was on Lupron two years during my great adventure treating Prostate cancer. It was not horrible with side effects but the lasting result’s combined with the radiation sorta killed things downstairs.

    Are you doing okay otherwise?

The Gentle Grizzly in reply to Peabody. | June 1, 2023 at 2:08 pm

Still getting infusion every 6 weeks for a while. The Merkel Cell Carcinoma shows no sugn so far of recurring.

June 19 I start a different infusion for a different issue. You may recall I was in the hospital May ‘22. That was CMV thst has done some damage the new infusion is being used to fight.

Aside from that I remain bright of eye and bushy of beard.

Thanks for the update. May you live longer than the average bear.

My doctors, especially my primary care doc, are shocked at the way I have kept up my spirits, and seem to enjoy my sense of humor They also like how I present informed questions, or how I am able to frame questions from the information they give me.

Good to hear the promising update. Attitude counts in whether we succeed or fail in life.

There is very little informative news about Paxton’s impeachment. Here is one article:

Hell yes the hospital is upset

Transgender surgery is extremely profitable for the hospital and creates a permanent lifetime patient. perpetual income stream

Suburban Farm Guy in reply to Joe-dallas. | June 1, 2023 at 12:33 pm

…permanent lifetime patient…. Who belongs to the demographic with the highest suicide rate. What do they care though

These people rape children’s minds.

I would imagine hospitals who did full frontal lobotomies wholesale made much the same points about how legislation was going to screw up their profitability.

Same ghouls, different era.

What they’re not telling the public:

“ Last night we spoke about the fake vaginal surgery transgenders undergo. Now, let’s talk about the fake penis surgery.

A phalloplasty is absolutely brutal.

First, the woman has to undergo a hysterectomy. Then, the woman has to have her ovaries removed.

Those two surgeries alone are absolutely brutal and tough recoveries.

Then, you have to have a “vaginal mucosal ablation”, that’s a fancy way of saying that they SEW THE VAGINA CLOSED.

And it only gets worse from there. The doctors need tissue from your body to build your fake penis from, so they CUT SKIN OFF OF YOUR ARM, YOUR THIGH OR YOUR BACK.

Doesn’t that sound pleasant?

After all that is over, they begin constructing your penis.

When that’s all done, you have your fake penis that barely works. It can hardly get an erection. It feels no real pleasure. It’s just there. If you want the erection device, that’s a whole different level of complicated surgeries and it is even more complicated.

That’s if you make it through. There are many stories of people having a fistula and stricture in their new urethras and being stuck with a suprapubic catheter for months.

Of course there are the infections. Those are brutal. And this is not your average UTI. This is the body rejecting a foreign object.

Then there are the times when the tissue dies and you’re just stuck with a dead organ.

Ejaculation isn’t possible. That just isn’t going to happen. And that’s in the best scenario.

You’re talking 1-3 years worth of surgeries before it’s all over in some cases.

In briefly looking at literature, the lowest rate of complications I’ve seen is 25%. More commonly, the number seems to hover around 40%.

So, when you see these people telling ten year olds they should sew their vagina closed up and attach a fake penis, you’re talking about actual barbarism.

This is what they want for our kids. This is the agenda.

I won’t stand for it. This stuff is serious and it is ruining people’s lives.”

People with diseased minds trying to make everyone like themselves. I guess misery likes company.

Paul in reply to FreeBop. | June 1, 2023 at 3:18 pm

And at the end of it all you wind up with either a heinous looking fake ‘penis’ that doesn’t work or a tiny little fake ‘vagina’ that needs to be constantly stuffed with a ‘dilator’ to keep it stretched out enough that HOPEFULLY your boyfriend’s micro-penis can fit into it. If you find a deranged guy with an average-sized, or (HORROR) giant, penis it will never even fit in your fake vajay-jay.

And if you’re not sexually aroused by all of that, you’re a FOAB, lol.

These people are so sick in the head that it boggles the mind.

(Father of All Bombs? Web search can’t find any other slang meaning…)

Paul in reply to henrybowman. | June 1, 2023 at 3:44 pm

I coined my own phrase there… it’s intended to be a mockery of “phobe” as in transphobe or homophobe or islamaphobe, etc.

As usual, the left can’t even get their stupid language right, as a phobia is an irrational fear of something. Nobody is fearful of people with gender dysphoria. We might be sickened by the mutilation of their genitals, or angered by their grooming of our children, but we are certainly not scared and there is nothing irrational about our position.

So FOAB is just a mocking way of saying “shut the f*ck up or get the language right, you leftist idiot” Kinda like using RAYCISS as a way of mocking their intellectually weak race card over-use.

Part of the “Full Disclosure” of this procedure should require a video detailing each step of the procedures.

What sane person would go through with this if they knew all the details.

The fake penis does not work and most likely, is pretty ugly,

Strapping on dildo could be a better option!

murkyv in reply to FreeBop. | June 1, 2023 at 11:11 pm

How the hell do they pay for all of that?

Sounds like hundreds of thousands of dollars

henrybowman | June 1, 2023 at 3:18 pm

LI, do you think it might be about time you stopped using the left’s language — “gender affirming care” — and started referring to it by a more rational term, such as “gender-denying procedures?”

Paul in reply to henrybowman. | June 1, 2023 at 3:53 pm

Hell, I’d go straight to “criminal genital mutilation of children”

    I prefer “child mutilation.”

Peabody in reply to Fuzzy Slippers. | June 1, 2023 at 5:16 pm

We take better care of our money than we do our children, for it’s illegal to fold, spindle or mutilate money.

henrybowman in reply to Fuzzy Slippers. | June 1, 2023 at 6:04 pm

Well, of course, but then there’s the portion not performed on children.

Dathurtz in reply to Fuzzy Slippers. | June 1, 2023 at 9:22 pm

I think most people don’t really know what is physically happening in these mutilations.

The images are beyond disturbing. They carve up people’s thighs and even forearms to create a grotesque “penis” (that then grows hair all over!). What they are doing is beyond medical malpractice and well into human experimentation ala Mengele, and I am not one to throw around the Nazi thing as you know. The kids are rendered sterile, unable to experience an orgasm for their entire life, and dependent on medical treatment for the remainder of their lives (even if they “detransition” later). It’s a crime against humanity.

The Gentle Grizzly in reply to henrybowman. | June 1, 2023 at 6:30 pm

    Same with liberal. It’s leftists.

Do health insurers generally cover “procedures and treatments for gender transitioning, gender reassignment, or gender dysphoria” on minors? What are the conditions for insurance coverage? Are there any health insurance nerds out there who can comment on this?

I guess there are more doctor’s who practice the hypocritical versus hypocritical oath. I don’t understand how any doctor can mutilate a child and believe they aren’t harming them. I think it’s criminal. At the least, they should lose their license to practice.
