Two Dozen Republicans Want Biden to Disavow John Kerry’s Statements Targeting Farms

“These comments are a blatant slap in the face to the hardworking individuals that spend their lives sustainably producing our world’s food, fuel, and fiber.”

The last time we checked on Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry, his secretive eco-negotiations with his Chinese counterparts were probed by the Republican-led House Oversight and Accountability Committee.

Climate Czars Kerry’s plans for eco-denominations took a dark turn recently when he demanded farms substantially drop emissions by levels that appear to be determined by narrative science and global “experts” who seem keen to sacrifice effective food production on the altar of climate crisis theology.

“We can’t get to net zero, we don’t get this job done, unless agriculture is front and center as part of the solution,” Kerry, the special presidential envoy for climate, said at the AIM for Climate summit in Washington.

He said that without cutting agricultural emissions, the world may not reach its goal of limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius – which scientists say must be achieved to avoid the worst impacts of climate change.

President Joe Biden has pledged the U.S. will reach net zero emissions by 2050.

He not only targeted current levels of farming emissions, but Kerry also seemed unhappy that they would increase as the Earth’s human population expanded.

“A lot of people have no clue that agriculture contributes about 33% of all the emissions of the world,” he said during his keynote address. “We can’t get to net-zero, we don’t get this job done unless agriculture is front and center as part of the solution. So all of us understand here the depths of this mission.”

“Food systems themselves contribute a significant amount of emissions just in the way in which we do the things we’ve been doing,” he continued. “With a growing population on the planet – we just crossed the threshold of 8 billion fellow citizens around the world – emissions from the food system alone are projected to cause another half a degree of warming by mid-century.”

Interestingly, Kerry insisted a 2-degree temperatures rise would be catastrophic to food production. That is false: The Medieval Warm Period temperatures were 1-2 degrees higher, and the climate was very conducive to farming then. Pared with modern equipment and techniques, agricultural production should be outstanding.

Furthermore, there are burgeoning concerns about the “science” that might be applied to food production. The Netherlands farmers held massive protests that the mainstream media refused to cover, but enough information escaped to impact the Dutch elections and increase awareness that farms are now targets of climate activism.

History is replete with examples of agricultural experiments that failed, resulting in mass starvation. The Great Chinese Famine between 1959 and 1961 resulted in the death of up to 50 million people and was caused by policies under the Great Leap Forward, including:

  • Inefficient distribution of food within the nation’s planned economy
  • Requiring the use of poor agricultural techniques
  • The Four Pests campaign that reduced sparrow populations (which disrupted the ecosystem)
  • Over-reporting of grain production

Now wonder, then, a group of 27 House Republicans is calling on Biden and Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack to disavow Kerry’s recent comments.

“We strongly urge you to denounce Kerry’s remarks. These comments are a blatant slap in the face to the hardworking individuals that spend their lives sustainably producing our world’s food, fuel, and fiber,” the GOP lawmakers state in the letter. “Although the world agriculture industry accounts for 22 percent of global GHG emissions, Kerry’s alarmist narrative does not tell the full story of American agriculture.”

“American farmers and ranchers are committed to being stewards of the land,” they add. “We are appalled by the comments made by [Kerry] and ask that your administration recognize the responsible efforts agriculture producers make every day to feed, clothe and fuel the world. Farmers and ranchers are the lifeblood to our food security, and a nation that cannot feed itself would not be a nation at all.”

I suspect neither occupant of the Oval Officer nor anyone in his administration will disavow the comments, as the align perfectly with the chaos and destruction that has been the hallmark of the Biden era.

Meanwhile, Kerry is living his best life using all the emissions.

Looks like he has already been to the mortuary, they just need a wooden stake, some holy water and something tipped with silver to help him rest.

If Kerry is truly committed to reducing “climate change”, he should stop living his lavish lifestyle and put his deeds where his mouth is.

Better yet, he should just stop eating altogether, and leave this Earth to fend for itself.

I’d pay to see Kerry star on “Naked and Afraid.”

How about pay and NOT see? OK… you can see for the rest of us and we will provide eye wash. Until the “life boats” of these elites are holed and they are as vulnerable as the rest of us… this will not go well.

We are all Dutch now

ICYMI – the Mexican volcano is producing gas equivalent to all the US CO2 reductions for the last 10 years.

A bit of starvation and the control of the food supply becomes the greatest weapon enforcing control of the government over the people. Kerry learned this from Stalin and Mao.

Why not stop turning 40% of agriculture crops into fuel. That would be a step in Kerry’s goal.

He should literally put his, or his wife’s, money where his mouth is. He married into the Heinz fortune. They need to pay reparations for all the climate damage that growing tomatoes (for Ketchup) must have done.

Within Kerry’s office they’re probably debating the idea of using the label “Great Leap Forward” for their scheme. After all, their program will be just as disastrous as Mao’s.

A famine that results in millions of deaths is not a feature, it’s the goal. Even Jane Goodall at one WEF stated that humanity should be reduced to 500 million.

The lead picture looks like an AI rendition. “Hey DALL·E, generate a picture of a washed-up politician turned diplomat with dead eyes, evil intent, and little intellect lecturing to people at the White House press room.” Presto!

the world may not reach its goal of limiting global warming
Well, that’s NOT the world’s goal. John Effing Kerry, it’s yours.
Stop speaking as if you are somehow the guardian of the entire world and we all suffer under your rule. You ain’t my king. You don’t rule me.

Food systems themselves contribute a significant amount of emissions just in the way in which we do the things we’ve been doing
No, they contribute a lot of emissions in the way in which you’ve been measuring. Which is based on voodoo science. Again, go away and leave me and my hamburgers and corn alone.

Why don’t we start by stopping all farm products to the H. J. Heinz Company

I notice he’s not volunteering to go without food so that this might be accomplished.

CommoChief in reply to Ironclaw. | May 30, 2023 at 5:11 pm

Mr Kerry won’t be voluntarily reducing his lifestyle to the level he wants the world to adopt. None of the folks pushing this are divesting of their jet set, luxury lifestyle to live in a commune in an earth bag hovel and toil in the fields. That is the role they envision for the rest of us.

WTPuck in reply to Ironclaw. | May 31, 2023 at 10:42 am

I always ask the true believers when they’re going to off themselves in their quest to reduce the population. Never get an answer.

If only John Kerry would “buy the farm”…

Another day; another manifestly stupid comment from the perennially, predictably and insufferably idiotic, narcissistic and posturing fop-dunce, Kerry.

With all of that botox, he reminds me of Clutch Cargo

The only thing that moves is his mouth

Lurch is a modern day Robespierre. In the end, the blade came for him too.

Climate change is just a scam for those who consider themselves elite to gain power and rule over those they deem lesser.

Don’t complain about farmers with your mouth FULL!

Whatever happened to Milstein?

    Milhouse?

Yes, I think that is who he means. I’m not entirely comfortable with it, either. Why not use Milhouse’s actual handle? Why say it this way just because Milhouse is a Jewish man? Some kind of weird antiSemitism? Anyway, I’ve stopped responding because it’s very clear he’s not interested in an answer and just wants to spam this same question for some reason known only to himself.

1) No need to look all the way back to the Chinese famines, Sri Lanka died on this hill within the last few years. They were the darlings of the international Left when they began the experiment, and ignored when they crashed the economy and the food supply as a direct result of it.

2) Botox? Check. Hairpiece? Check. Married into money? Check. Private jet and multiple private mansions using more fuel than all of us put together? Check. Moron? Check.

Instead of getting rid of farmers, the world would be a far better and safer place if we instead removed elitist, arrogant, rich, condescending aholes like Kerry from the planet. This POS flies around in his private jet, excoriating the little people if they fart too much. If we had a revolution against the ruling class like the French did in 1789, this SOB would be one of the first in the guillotine.

To disavow those statements they would have to at least pretend to disagree with them and the don’t disagree. The crew that Biden is a part of/being used as a ventriloquist dummy for don’t disagree and can’t figure out why we all don’t want to starve to death so they can feel good about themselves.

Great. First Czar Kerry wanted us to be cold.

Now he wants us to be cold AND hungry.

What’s next? Shelter?

“Residential roofing has been shown to absorb sunlight, causing a potentially significant source of heat that contributes to global warming” the Czar stated bluntly. “We must reduce the number of residential roofs to meet our net-zero climate obligations. Roofs are an existential threat to humanity!”

People don’t realize the amount of harmful emissions from agriculture. People who like to eat real food don’t care. If the self-entitled Kerry wants to eat bugs, let him.

One other point, Kerry is shown wearing medals awarded for service in Viet Nam. The medals he publicly threw away to protest that war. Proving, in my mind, that he’s a hypocrite.

not_a_lawyer | May 31, 2023 at 10:50 am

John really let one slip in his comments:

“… we just crossed the threshold of 8 billion fellow citizens around the world …”

So the USA now has 8 billion citizens around the world? He’s a full-blown globalist. Everyone on the planet is a citizen of the USA according to Mr. Kerry. They need merely show up and vote and collect welfare, you see. Sovereignty? That’s from the middle ages!

It’s all so demoralizing.

Did those two dozen Republicans raise hell when Biden invented the “Special Presidential Envoy for Climate” position? One that didn’t require the Senate to advise or consent on?

David Walker | May 31, 2023 at 1:27 pm

Does no-one have a silver bullet?

Some here may remember that Kerry threw his Vietnam medals over a fence during one of his many protests. Later when he was a senator he had his awards mounted and framed in his capital office. I guess his medals were “relative” to how he wished to be viewed. He needed three wounding events to be removed from duty in Vietnam. One “wound” was so superficial that he had to pester the doc to note it in his records. He’s a scoundrel.
