Ocasio-Cortez Throws Hissy Fit Over Twitter Parody Account

Ocasio-Cortez Throws Hissy Fit Over Twitter Parody Account

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Press Release (parody): “I can’t believe people would think these parody tweets are from our office when they are clearly fake. Come on y’all you know I would never say something as stupid as that.”

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) finds herself in a fight with herself—well, a parody account that seems to be a little too good at its job.

AOC recently took to Twitter to express her concern about a parody account (you should follow if you’re not already) that was impersonating her. “FYI there’s a fake account on here impersonating me and going viral. The Twitter CEO has engaged it, boosting visibility. It is releasing false policy statements and gaining spread,” she tweeted. The Congresswoman is currently assessing with her team how to move forward.

The parody account is having a field day. With a bio that reads, “Saying the quiet part out loud. (parody)”, the account isn’t trying to hide its intentions. The tweets range from the absurd, such as “Every time my boyfriend farts – I make him plant a tree to offset his carbon emissions,” to the hilarious, “If the government can print money, citizens should be allowed to. If we had money printers in each household, everyone would be rich and the economy would be booming.”

The parody account also seems to be well aware of real AOC’s concerns and is still joking:

While AOC is understandably upset about the potential for misinformation, the parody account is just that—a parody. It’s a classic case of satire meets social media, and the results are a comedic goldmine. Twitter is never short of entertainment.

In the meantime, we wait with bated breath for AOC’s next move. Will she manage to get the parody account taken down, or will the account continue to churn out its comedic content?

“You know your over the target when you start catching flak”

    Wisdom from WW2

    Lets keep pouring it on.

Potential problems- her colleagues taking the parody account as real, and happily proposing strategies based off of them. Of course, how could we tell?

She should put “NOT parody” in her twitter bio so we can tell the difference.

Each of us plays a part in stopping disinformation(r).

AOC is learning about the Streisand Effect.

She can’t differentiate between making a joke and being one. Will Rogers take on Congress is fitting when discussing her.

They’re the same picture!

and gaining spread

WTF? Is that even English?

To be fair, nothing that has appeared in any parody is dumber than what she actually says.

Its bizarre that anyone even tries to parody her – she is beyond parody.

No one can invent anything that is more absurd than the positions she actually holds.

She threw a hissy fit?

Yeah, the hissy forgot to take her gabapentin.

It says “parody” in the account name. That’s fair warning for everybody. Her problem is that they’re too much fun.

This is even funnier than people who take the Mossad parody account as being real. This one at least says Parody.

At some point the parody account will provide pointers to her real account. Ibelieve what she is maddest about is that she can’t tell the difference between them.

Nice to see Mini AOC is back with new material. 😉

I miss Sean Spicier. That was an excellent parody account.

Mockery can be the best way to put someone in there place. Maybe in this instance, no better way to tell AOC that she really is a dumb*ss. I’m reminded of how pissed Obama got when his large ears were made fun of 🙂

It’s hilarious to see a supposed Hero Of The Working Class shrieking (in effect) “How dare you! Do you know who I am?”

Yes because Alexandria ocasio-cortez is so known for saying things that aren’t incredibly stupid.

I don’t know why you give her space

She’s the Kardashians of politics

Please stop wasting your time!

The best part is the parody account carries the blue check mark that AOC herself has refused to pay the $8 for.

No wonder she’s worried people will take it too seriously. It already looks more legit than her real account! LOL!

What is such a contradiction is that her normal tweets and the parody tweets are hard to tell apart. She, AOC, should become the abbreviation for “Parody” like SARC is for sarcasm!

The “Woman of the People” playing the “DYKWIA” card. What’s wrong with THIS picture?!

The real tragedy is that this does not lend itself to replication and copycats w/out being charged with creative un-originality.

Newsom, Inslee, Whitmer all need their own parody accounts.

The first line channeled me into “Misty,” which doesn’t work with these lyrics.
The last half works really well to “You’re in The Army Now,” but not the rest.
My subconscious will struggle with this all night.

I immediately went to “Grease” with “Look at Me, I’m Sandra Dee.”

Regarding Misty, a favorite sung by Johnny Mathis, I can give it a try…

Look at me, I’m as helpless as a Twitter bot can be
And I feel I’m clinging to a lie

      I can’t understand
I get misty just reading this parody

      Walk away
I still won’t date you on a dare

      Needs work…

Looks like they’ve taken down the parody account. They never did that with the many parodies of Trump.
