Leftists Protest Matt Walsh at University of Iowa, Hack His Twitter and Personal Email Accounts

“It’s just a little bit sad that we would invite someone like that on to our campus especially because Iowa is so progressive and always so open about acceptance and everything”

Matt Walsh of the Daily Wire spoke at the University of Iowa last night, and the event was protested by unhinged leftist students who screamed obscenities outside the venue.

It was also reported yesterday that Walsh’s Twitter and personal email accounts had been hacked.

ABC News in Iowa reports:

Univ. of Iowa students protest conservative commentator Matt Walsh’s appearance on campus

Hours before known conservative commentator Matt Walsh was set to speak at the Iowa Memorial Union on Wednesday, students gathered across the street in protest. At the same time, inside IMU, many lined up outside the theater to see a screening of Walsh’s documentary, ‘What is a Woman?’.

TV-9 spoke with several students with varying reactions to the event. One first-first year student, Kelsie Stewart, said she knew about the event thanks to the information spread across social media.

“People are like, ‘No, this isn’t okay, we need to be doing something about it.’ And other people are like ‘Who cares?” recalled Stewart.

While she made no plans to protest or attend the event, she said she’s still largely against it.

“It’s just a little bit sad that we would invite someone like that on to our campus especially because Iowa is so progressive and always so open about acceptance and everything but then it’s kind of going backwards on that by having him here,” said Stewart.

Iowa Young Americans for Freedom (YAF) helped to organize the event. Leaders with the group say it’s important to have Walsh on campus to lead certain topics when it comes to the transgender community.

Protesters assembled with horns and chanted ‘F’ Matt Walsh:

They threw marbles on the floor in the hope of injuring someone:

Jeremy Boreing of the Daily Wire tweeted about the hack on Walsh:

Walsh addressed the issue once he regained control of his Twitter account:

A reporter for Wired was suspended from Twitter for soliciting the hacked material:

In his speech, Walsh talked about all of this and revealed that his YouTube channel had been demonetized, presumably over his criticism of trans influencer Dylan Mulvaney. He also talked about the hack of his accounts and said an ‘insider’ was involved.

You can watch his speech below. The video is cued to start at the 10:30 mark:

If students on the left had any common sense, they would hold an alternative event with a speaker who could make an argument against Walsh’s points.

Instead, they just rush to slience the argument they don’t want anyone else to hear.

The left knows Matt Walsh better than I do. I’ve never heard of him, probably because of a lack of memorable zingers.

Luce Irigaray has a whole book on what a woman is, and it doesn’t seem to include any room for the modern memes. (“An Ethics of Sexual Difference”). And she’s a left-winger. Then there’s Camille Paglia.

Has Walsh added anything?

What Walsh added is that now you have no leftist with any sense whatsoever and none of them can Define what a woman is because they can’t do so without offending somebody in the process.

The left is stupid is a bad rhetorical move in the first place. The idea, if it’s not just a rant, is to persuade the left.

As for defining, it’s a power move. Most terms are pleasantly ambiguous and shift under pressure, in order for language to work at all.

If I wanted to persuade the left, I’d work on showing that priority to feelings is the opposite of caring.

If you don’t take your kid to the dentist, people will say you don’t love him. It turns out love isn’t a feeling.

You are dealing with ideologues that have little regard for caring. They do not want to be persuaded because they already know.

What it will take is enough normal people to repudiate the acceptance of these freakish ideas, once and for all.

Trans woMEN should not be placed on a pedestal at the expense of girls and women, especially those doing a form of “black face.” A black person can call out someone doing black face, but actual women (and men) are castigated for objecting to “women face,” while Lia and Dylan run all the way to the bank.

He is not trying to persuade leftists. He is making the look foolish to the middle if the left doesn’t hide his work from them. They cannot afford for that to happen since they are foolish and their entire house of cards will come crashing down if you make anyone think about it.

That’s why the comment led off with:

“You are dealing with ideologues that have little regard for caring. They do not want to be persuaded because they already know.”

        You can’t persuade cultists

“The idea, if it’s not just a rant, is to persuade the left.”
No, that’s never the idea. Your opponent is irredeemable, put that out of your mind. Your job is always to persuade the open-minded in the audience.

Actually, Matt Walsh’s film “What is a Woman?” was directly responsible for some major dictionaries to change/add to their definitions of “woman” and “female” to comport with trans ideology. The tortured definitions they came up with are not logical and do do not make sense. Matt has suggested that priority to feeling is the opposite of caring, and has been demonized by the left for this and called a “hater” ,a “Nazi” ,”transphobe of the year” etc. They claim he causes trans people to commit suicide by not affirming their feelings. . The left cannot be persuaded. Matt has exposed their dumb ideas and brought common sense into the equation. The film was similar to “Libs of Tik Tok”…He asked so called gender experts, transpeople, trans activists questions and let them talk. The silly things they said made them look foolish. He is an intelligent and articulate debater. He brings moderates to the right.

The main takeaway I got from his book (I haven’t watched the video) is the incoherence of transgender ideology. It’s not an exaggeration to say that it’s a secular religion.

    What Walsh has added:

    https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/what_is_a_woman

He is able to penetrate the unscientific and amoral ridiculousness in real time.

He should do a road show with Riley Gaines.

Yeah I’ll bet not a single one of those protesters could actually Define what a

“If students on the left had any common sense …”

…they wouldn’t be on the left.

Fixed it for you.

When the basic tenets of your positions will not hold up to even cursory examination, every effort will be taken to stifle, minimize, and eliminate debate. Heckler’s veto, charging exorbitant fees for “security”, using small venues are just some tactics used to minimize/eliminate other, competing ideas,

Free, open exchanges must be stopped.

So sad that this is occurring on college campuses, stopping free open exchanges…..and the administrators and professors support it!

Allowing mob rule seems like a bad idea. Eventually there are only two ways this goes.
1. The mob decides to throw off their political masters and take power for themselves, running over everyone else in the process of taking that power.
2. The normies finally get so fed up with govt inaction and malfeasance that ad hoc groups form and decide to take action against the mob themselves b/c the govt has abdicated it’s responsibility.

Both of these seem like very bad outcomes to me. It would be far more preferable for the govt to meet it’s primary responsibility; safety and security of ordinary Citizens as they go about their lives, including contentious policy and political debates. When people are barred from using reason and logic to persuade others then the only course open to them to realize their goal is to adopt a set of far more vigorous actions to impose their policy preferences instead of working to convince others.

“It’s just a little bit sad that we would invite someone like that on to our campus especially because Iowa is so progressive and always so open about acceptance and everything…”

Cognitive dissonance much?

“It’s just a little bit sad that we would invite someone like that on to our campus especially because Iowa is so progressive and always so open about acceptance and everything”

The lack of self-awareness is absolutely mind-boggling.

“We’re too accepting ever to invite someone like him.”

No conservative should accept any invitation to speak at a college. It is like asking a 19th century Methodist minister to speak at a Tijuana bordello.

I am an Iowan who is seriously embarrassed by the behavior of these “students.” No, we are not a progressive state and proud of it. I lived in California for 30 years – that is progressive and the reason I returned to my home state. Iowa City, where the University is located, is not even remotely representative of the rest of the state. These are children who need to be spanked.

From a Rod Drehrer blog that includes quotes from political theorist Mark Shiffman’s upcoming book about ideology. Here’s Shiffman:

“Ideology is also necessarily violent against those who question its certainties. These skeptics are enemies of humanity as well, since the believers are convinced that all that is required to arrive at the social order that rights all wrongs is for everyone to adhere to the ideology and behave according to its dictates. Anyone who raises doubts and encourages others to doubt is on the wrong side of history, impeding the progress of the rectification of human social relations that will finally deliver justice to history’s victims and reconcile all things. Vocal lack of commitment to the not-yet-achieved redemptive regime merits at least shaming and silencing, and violent harassment if one refuses to repent. Since the believers cannot admit that the ideological schema fails to represent reality truly, they can only treat anyone who tries to point out its distortions and the damage they cause as a scapegoat responsible for its failures by undermining unanimous zeal for the cause.
Finally, ideology is violent against reality itself, hating intractable truths in the order of things as much as it hates those who speak truths about the limitations of its schema. Nature is not allowed to be other than what the logic and aims of the ideology require it to be. The violation of what non-adherents recognize as natural constraints provides the zealot with a self-satisfaction similar to that derived from persecuting dissenters. To be transgressive against limits that would slow down redemptive progress—that is, any limits inconsistent with the ideology’s reductive distortions of reality—is to be a benefactor of humanity. In its hatred of reality’s refutation of its claims, ideology is even more mendacious than Arendt acknowledges: not only does it fail to learn from the experience of failure, but the more evident its failures become the more inclined it will be to imagine conspiracies it can blame.”

If reality negates the ideology, then too bad for reality. That’s where we are today. It’s where the Soviets were in 1980, at the start of their Empire’s final decade.

So the lesson is to push back hard, and now, against ideologues who use force, intimidation and illegal hacking to censor their opponents.

Matt Walsh promised there will be consequences for those who hacked him (and hopefully also for those who tried to injure people and also for those who violated numerous free speech laws and policies).
