More than Two Dozen Democratic House Members Join Republicans to Nix Biden’s Gas Stove Grab

Meanwhile, leading New York Republican scorches state Democrats’ efforts to ban gas stoves.

The fight over banning has stoves is heating up, as over two dozen Democrats in the House of Representatives joined Republicans to approve an amendment preventing the Department of Energy from implementing strict new regulations on gas stoves that most stoves on the market today would not be able to meet.

This appears to be an issue that Republicans may use in the next election cycles.

The House voted 251 to 181 in favor of the amendment from Rep. Gary Palmer, R-Ala., to a larger energy policy bill, and X Democrats voted with the GOP.

Republicans have been looking to defend the use of gas stoves ever since the Consumer Product Safety Commission indicated it could ban stoves for health reasons. That idea was scrapped, but it was followed by a proposed Department of Energy regulation that would impose tough new energy efficiency standards for gas stoves.

Palmer, head of the House Republican Policy Committee, criticized House Democrats for largely voting against his amendment in comments to Fox News Digital.

“Despite all their words to the contrary, House Democrats are supportive of federal bureaucrats’ attempts to ban gas stoves. By voting against my amendment to prevent the Department of Energy from implementing its anti-natural gas agenda, they have shown themselves to be complicit,” Palmer told Fox News Digital.”Clearly, the plan to ban gas stoves was already in the works even before federal bureaucrats said the quiet part out loud earlier this year,” he said. “Republicans are meeting this attempt to dismantle American energy head on and will continue to empower Americans to choose what appliances belong in their kitchens, not have it dictated to them by a bureaucrat with a political agenda.”

We reported that New York was gearing up for its own gas stove ban. Now the leading Republican member of the New York state Senate is slamming Democratic lawmakers for pushing a gas stove ban.

In an interview with Fox News Digital, New York Senate Minority Leader Rob Ortt criticized the policy which he said was part of a broader energy policy that drives employers and residents alike to depart the state. He also said federal Democratic lawmakers from New York — such as Sen. Chuck Schumer and Reps. Hakeem Jeffries and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez — are largely driving state policy.

“I think it’s ridiculous and I think the danger is that it almost seems comedic and so people can take it, you know, maybe not as seriously as they should,” Ortt told Fox News Digital. “It is going to increase people’s utility rates in the state of New York, it is going to decrease energy reliability in the state of New York and it will do nothing to fight climate change.”

“If we think that gas stoves are the reason for climate change — that’s just that’s ridiculous,” he added. “We’re not going to stop the polar ice caps from melting because my mom has to use an electric stove.”

I’m waiting for some Democrat to propose limiting the wattage of electric stove burners to, say, 500W maximum, not realizing what it means.

Or, realizing what it means but is so mule-headed, they will push for it anyway.

“and X Democrats voted with the GOP”.

Two things…firstly are you telling me 10 democrats voted with the GOP?

And…are those Democrats now rwaaaaacists?

Obviously we need Common Sense Stove Reform (TM). Think of the children, no one needs a high capacity assault stove, powerful stove lobby blocks reform, end the stove show loophole, felons and the mentally ill have access to and can buy as many stoves as they want, even children have easy access to stoves, no other country in the world has the US’s massive stove problem, blah blah blah.

The whole idea that gas stoves are likely responsible for “Global Warming/Cooling” is evidence that mental illness is rampant in this country.

That, or an ever-increasing desire for control over every aspect of our lives.

This was a dry run. They are really after your Air Conditioner.

They have already set the stage for this in many ways with electronic electricity meters. I did not sign up for one a few years back when the company asked if I wanted one. But now I find that they can regulate my usage if they want.

The company will do it for the government.

They’re doing this crap like EULAs now. Govt and consumer tech are in bed — they’re borrowing techniques from each other in both directions, now.

Last week I got another breathless update, pushing me to “sign up for” the change in electric sourcing I did not ask for, rejected twice, the City negotiated n implemented — default opt in, but you can opt out if yo do it right.

They’ll take it only from my sweaty dead hands.

        Or our huge refrigerators…

You know a republic is dead when the people must petition their representatives in the Congress to make laws to counter a law that a President makes, who has no constitutional authority to make laws in the first place.

Nor do any of the agencies, boards, centers, bureaux, departments, or other such places full of people who reside in a vacuum.

A solar powered electric stove versus one directly powered by natural gas. That sounds about right for this cult.

By the way, I have an electric utility deal that cuts the usage charge 20% based on a separate deal with a solar power generation company. For last month the credit was zero, because it was cloudy almost all of the time.

Electric stoves are not the final solution.

We seem to be getting close to peak incompetence on Biden policies. Even d/prog are beginning to buck the Biden administration policy prescriptions.

It is time to deplatform the administrative state.

Jill Biden can now know that her gas stove is safe from those “evil” bureaucrats

Unusual that this is legislation.

The congress needs to step up to limiting agencies perennial lawyerly pushing of camels through needles’ eyes. The other agencies have apparently decided to copy the ATF — there’s gotta be a way to push our overlords’, or at least the advocates we talk to, agenda through some authorization we can find. If you tilt you head and squint just right, any chunk of metal is a fire-arm; any bottle a suppressor. So any puddle is navigable water, and the stovetop risk dire and immediate, thought the measured harm less than panda bites, even rounded up.

Good for NY-guy, but NY is a special case.

They hate people doing anything for theselves — same as the feds.

They also extra hate the folks outside the cities. Obviously, somebody got confused — thought gas stoves were mainly in the hinterlands, as gas drilling or transport would be. Thought this was just another way to get at “those people”, who should just get out.
