Lindsey Graham Wants to Use Military Against Mexican Drug Cartels

Lindsey Graham Wants to Use Military Against Mexican Drug Cartels

Two of the four kidnapped Americans in Mexico were killed.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) has a bill ready to show President Joe Biden that would allow the U.S. to use its military against Mexican drug cartels:

GRAHAM: “Well, I would follow Bill Barr’s advice and get tough on Mexico. It’s not just the hostages. Number one, I would do everything I could to get them back. I would do what Trump did. I would put Mexico on notice if you continue to give safe haven to fentanyl drug dealers, then you are an enemy of the United States. 70 to 100,000 people have died from fentanyl poisoning coming from Mexico and China and this administration has done nothing about it. I’m going to introduce legislation, jesse, to make certain mexican drug cartels, foreign terrorist organizations, under U.S. law and set the stage to use military force if necessary to protect America from being poisoned why things coming out of Mexico. So what would Lindsey Graham do? I would tell mexican government if you don’t clean up your act, we’re going to clean it up for.”

Unfortunately, two of the four American tourists were killed. They were kidnapped “after being caught in the crossfire of rival cartels shortly after crossing the U.S. border with Mexico.”

Fox News showed a video of the men kidnapping the Americans. Authorities think it was a mistaken identity:

The video of the violent incident shows armed men in body armor dragging one person across the pavement and pushing a woman into the bed of a white truck, then dragging two more men who appear to be wounded across the pavement and loading them into the bed of the same truck.

Photos from the scene show a white minivan with North Carolina plates riddled with bullet holes shortly after the kidnappings, with a woman who reportedly witnessed the attack telling the Associated Press she saw the minivan collide with another vehicle before hearing gunfire and seeing armed men approach the van.

“All of a sudden they (the gunmen) were in front of us,” said the woman, who declined to be identified for fear of retaliation. “I entered a state of shock, nobody honked their horn, nobody moved. Everybody must have been thinking the same thing, ‘If we move they will see us, or they might shoot us.’”

Lindsey, wants a war , doesn’t matter who

He wanted the Jan6 Americans shot

He’s a disgrace and a disaster

Could be said of Chicago every weekend

Maybe we should close the boarder Lindsey, will be 15 million of the worlds “ finest” before Biden’s first term is done

15 million !!! To add to the 40 million already here

How about enforcing US immigration laws instead?

no.
cut off the demand. cities/states that won’t enforce the laws get what they ask for.

Just more bloviating crap from the king of RINOs.

He only talks tough like this when he knows goddamn well that it’s never going to happen.

Funny how this sack of RINO crap suddenly doesn’t care about abortion anymore, after caring about it SO DEEPLY that he just HAD to propose it to a Democrat majority Congress right before the elections to sabotage Republicans, even though he knew there was zero chance of it actually passing even in an actual Republican Congress.

The only reason that Graham is not the absolute worst Republican Senator is that McConnell and Romney are still around.

Trump had 4 years and never did a damn thing thing about the Mexican drug cartels bringing drugs into America. Just talk. Didn’t even build the wall. And for 2 of those years he had a Republican Congress. All talk and no walk,

A Republican Congress that not only REFUSED to fund the wall, but supported the lawsuits to prevent him from using any other funds to do it. They fought him tooth and nail to prevent him from doing it, while that idiot Sessionzzzzzzzz was puttering around screwing with pot sentences.

A Republican Congress that kept themselves ‘in session’ for FOUR YEARS, specifically to deny him the ability to make any recess appointment that the RINOs didn’t approve of that might actually change something.

Biiitch McConnell has already vote for 100 times more money to defend the Ukraine border than would have taken to secure our own.

Jr just can’t help himself, I think he has issues

CommoChief in reply to Olinser. | March 7, 2023 at 7:48 pm

True, though Trump could have invoked a veto on the budget that didn’t contain funding for the border wall. For some reason he allowed Ryan and McConnell to roll him on the border wall funding instead of choosing to fight by using his veto.

That action would have placed the DC establishment in very bad place. Those in the GoP opposed to funding the wall would have had to muster enough votes to override the veto of a very popular (among GoP voters) President. That would have put the issue front and center for the public. Vote to deny the border wall funding via the vote to override the veto and have lots of GoP voters screaming and hollering OR give in and add less than a $100 Billion to build the wall.

The decision by Trump not to use the veto and force the wind of Ryan and McConnell is definitely an example of the road not taken.

JR in reply to Olinser. | March 7, 2023 at 7:54 pm

Yeah, it’s never Trump’s fault. He lost the popular vote to the actual real criminal Hillary Clinton, who probably murdered her political opponents.. Trump also lost the popular vote to the brain dead Joe Biden, who can’t even complete a simple sentence. Who else could possibly lose to imbeciles like this? He lost the U.S. Senate twice by injecting himself into the elections in Georgia. He endorsed crazies like Oz and Walker that couldn’t even win elections against brain dead opponents. That is why we are where we are today. Because of Trump. But of course it is not his fault. It’s never Trump’s fault. It’s always election fraud. Just like the complaints of Al Gore, Hillary Clinton, and Stacey Abrams. That is loser talk. His #1 campaign promise was to build the wall. But he never did build the wall. But thousands and thousands of people cheered him at rallies when he yelled “Build the wall!” But of course he never did. And hundreds of thousands of Americans have died from fentanyl overdoes because of the drugs coming through the border. But hey, it’s not Trump’s fault. It’s always someone else’s fault.

In case you haven’t noticed, Trump isn’t in power now. Blame the pedophile in the white house.

venril in reply to JR. | March 8, 2023 at 5:24 pm

The “popular vote” is irrelevant. The State Legislatures appoint the president thru the EC. That’s how it’s always worked. They and only they get to say how those EC voters are appointed. That those legislatures decided to use a vote was up to them and could be changed tomorrow by any one of them.

What do you think Trump plans to do differently should he return to the White House? How can he get them to budge next time if he couldn’t the last time? And why didn’t he veto the bill as Chief says? It’s not clear to me that anything is any different if Trump wins again. He’ll still be facing the same “resistance” crap, only more now than then. How does he get anything done that he couldn’t or wouldn’t do last time?

Does it make any sense to act as if the past will be the future?

Trump plans to a lot different. Haven’t you been keeping up with his policy recommendations Back then, he was new to DC, and too trusting of the snakes. Do you really believe that it will like the last time, when so much has transpired, other than the snakes still existing?

        , and do you think

Yes, I do believe it will be like last time because Trump hasn’t changed anything. The snakes in Congress still exist, and without Congress Trump can’t do a thing that can last. How’s he going to get them on board? Calling them names and publicly bashing them? Didn’t work last time, any reason to think it will next time?

He’s still chumming up to Lindsey Grahamnesty, backing McCarthy AND Roma Romney, and generally still acting like it’s 2016. I’d love to see him “get it,” but I haven’t seen that yet. Just more of the same tired ’16 retreads (including promising yet again to remove all illegals. He didn’t do it the first time he promised to do it, and I have no reason to believe he’ll do it next time, either. Fool me once . . . ).

Trump hasn’t changed anything? Have you really been listening? So often people say things about Trump which makes it pretty obvious they are speaking from perception. They know little about what he actually says. Just because he does not “get it” from your perspective does not mean that is so for millions that understand just how much he gets it. Too bad he is one of a kind and there are many snowflakes and Karens that can’t handle it.

He talks about how corrupt things are. That has not changed. But he has certainly changed, and he is more aware of the snakes. Surely you do not prefer him to be someone else, a pretender, simply to please others, or to engage in politician talk that obscures.

It’s so convenient to forget the things that went on, and still go on, but they help show that he is the main threat to those that want to dominate us all with their special type of repression. Yes, mean tweets is now the apparent rationale to walk away. It seems to be working as intended, but it masks the reality of the struggle going on.

If there is no hope for a different result because of the bipartisan agreement with the invasion of our country and the resultant “resistance”, that means two things. First, we are no longer a sovereign country, because the first attribute of sovereignty is control of borders, along with the exclusive power of the government to make and enforce the laws within those borders. These do not obtain.

Second, under what was our Social Contract, the Constitution, the government only operates with the consent of the governed, which also arguably does not obtain given the lack of electoral integrity and trust in the results of what are called elections.

In the absence of a Social Contract, we return to the Hobbesian “war of all against all” [bellum omnium contra omnes] until such time as a new Social Contract is created. The nature of that new Contract will not necessarily bear any relationship to the Constitution. Indeed, human history argues strongly otherwise.

puhiawa in reply to JR. | March 7, 2023 at 5:47 pm

Is this some sort of joke? Ryan and McConnell never gave Trump money for either the wall or border drug intervention. It took him 2 years to dig the money out of the military budget as an emergency appropriation.

More Trump “baggage”. You NeverTrumpers just can’t stop yourselves from recycling your lies.

CommoChief in reply to Pasadena Phil. | March 8, 2023 at 7:55 am

The failure of DJT to follow through on the central campaign promise; build a border wall, is far !ore than ‘baggage’.

The DC establishment turned down the funding that’s absolutely true. It is also true that DJT could have used his veto and rejected the budget that lacked the funding. He chose not to fight the DC establishment in that manner for a reason yet to be fully articulated by him. That fact is gonna be something many folks want an answer/explanation for if he wants their votes.

venril in reply to JR. | March 8, 2023 at 5:40 pm

Trump was thwarted by folks bought and paid for by the cartels. And in spite of that, he was successful in slowing the flow more than anyone else in recent memory. THAT allowed ICE to focus better on drug and high value ‘migrant’ smuggling. You can flap you jaws and say anything – it’ll still be wrong.

Lindsey Graham never saw a war he didn’t want someone other than himself to fight. This poser has lied to the populace for years. He is a deflector for the deep state and will be richly rewarded when he finally leaves office.

gonzotx in reply to puhiawa. | March 7, 2023 at 6:58 pm

He’s probably richly rewarded now. I heard AOC , who came in Congress just 2 terms ago broke as a bar tender, now has 27 million!

Just imagine if any nation was killing 100,000 Americans a year by any means and we sat by and did nothing. Not only are they killing us but invading us with slaves that are obligated to the cartels to do as they order. This is a war against us and Biden is doing nothing along with his sick allies the Dems and the msm. I despise Graham but he is right on this one thing.

xnycp in reply to inspectorudy. | March 8, 2023 at 9:00 am

You are half right. This is a war against the United States. Only it is being waged by those inside the WH who have unilaterally dismantled our border and given our sovereignty to the Mexican drug cartels and human traffickers from all over South America. Basically our government is like the Capitol police opening the doors to protesters, then charging them with “aggravating parading” etc. If we weren’t opening the doors, they wouldn’t be coming in. We can fix our border problem on our side of the border without going to war with our southern neighbor.

NYBruin in reply to gonzotx. | March 8, 2023 at 10:51 am

      That is nonsense,

henrybowman | March 7, 2023 at 6:10 pm

My guy, Gosar, has filed a bill attaching the death penalty for fentanyl trafficking. Sounds great for the first two seconds, but is totally futile.
We’ve got federal laws against a lot of things, but we don’t prosecute them, and I assume we have plenty of people on federal death row, but we never actually execute them.
When all you have is the hammer of legislation, everything looks like a bright, shiny nail, but a lot of them are actually embedded detonators.

Yes, trying is the first step to failure. Brilliant.

The difference this year is that the Republicans control the House and this bill should get voted on and sent to the Senate for McConnell’s Gang of 49 to perform their magic. Make them go on record officially.

Subotai Bahadur | March 7, 2023 at 6:29 pm

The idea of using the US military for something worthwhile like stopping a hostile foreign invasion and attack by the drug cartels is great. And in passing, to do that means also stopping the simultaneous hostile foreign invasion to occupy our country. That last is something that the UniParty will absolutely refuse to do.

However, this is proposed by Lindsey-freaking-Graham. He has a life and legislative history of talking sometimes like he loves this country, and then when the rubber reaches the road, of siding and voting with the Left.

Dezhinformatsia by him and the GOPe.

Subotai Bahadur

Obama in Baghdad. Obama in Tripoli. Obama in Cairo. Obama in Damascus. Obama in Kabul. Biden in Kabul. Biden in DC. Biden in Kiev. Biden in Mexico City? Mexican Spring?

The “terrorist” designation would mostly be useful for going after the cartel’s money.

It empowers the federal govt in a wide variety of useful ways. The designation is by no means synonymous with sending the US military. Not that that’s a bad idea, but leave it to Lindsey to promote a good policy by hyping the most controversial aspect of it, which will result in opposition to the terrorist designation by Senate D’s and probably Biden’s handlers.

E Howard Hunt | March 8, 2023 at 9:08 am

What a jerk this guy is. Secure the border, enforce current laws and the problem goes away. But, no, this aging queen wants to show how butch he is.

RepublicanRJL | March 8, 2023 at 9:43 am

How about we just seal the southern border and let Mexico deal with their own issues? I don’t see Mexico sending millions to Texas and Arizona to pay for all those illegal aliens they’re allowing to flood the states, trafficking children and Fentanyl, right?

I’ve advocated a Pershing Expedition for a number of years.
It could provide a buffer space from narco traffickers and against illegal aliens, IMO, if done right.

Of course, I have no hope in it being done right in this day and age.

The US has lost every conflict or war it has engaged in since 1945. OUr war efforts have prevailed no where. Its a perfect record. We’ll maybe Grenada and Panama? No better example is the War on Drugs. The problem is not the Mexican Cartels No more than its was the Columbian Cartels, which BTW still exist with greater wealth and power than in the time of Escobar. The problem is the demand for euphoria and that requires drugs.. There are only two methods of winning this war,and that is the method of Mao, which is to execute all users and dealers, or to legalize the drugs in an effort to control their distribution and use. Let the druggies buy their crap from CVS or Walgreen;s much like ethel in euo to buy it from Boots in the UK. That way, we can offer treatment to those who are addicted and control its purity. I know this argument upsets many but its the only way to proceed. Invading Mexico will only shift the problem a few extra miles from out border. The profits are huge and we could kill or capture all of the cartel members today and tomorrow there will be anew cartel to replace them

The establishment will not close the boarder because they are setting up the conditions for US Martial Law to be imposed.

What the establishment wants is to have the US population cry out for military intervention against the Mexican cartels. When the military strikes against the cartels in Mexico, the Mexican cartels may strike back at US based soft targets. Then the establishment has their opening to do US military operations within the US.

Be careful what you wish for.

It’s Graham’s fault! It’s Trump’s fault! It’s Biden’s fault! It’s Mitch’s fault! Hey, the blame game’s working great isn’t it? The wall must be built, but it’s gonna take both sides to get it done. Donkeys move for neither the carrot nor the stick, only for the two in combination. So, how about a compromise in which each side gets something they want?

Offer the carrot, but hold up the stick. The dems have already let millions over the border unimpeded. A few thousand more won’t make much of a difference, and… they’re already here.

Offer citizenship to the “dreamers” who, after all, were brought over the border as children and should not be held responsible for the actions of their parents. By all reports, the vast, vast majority of the dreamers are working, productive members of our society.

The price? Build the wall. Put both bloviating parties up against it. Want the wall? Citizenship for the dreamers is the price. Want citizenship for the dreamers? The wall is the price. Nothing else in the bill, only the two issues in question. Nowhere to hide. Yea or nay and if you vote “nay” then explain it to the voters back home.

Washington has jettisoned the way of compromise in favor of the way of ideological compulsion. It ain’t workin’.

Late to the game, but largely support the approach to use force against the cartels. There are probably thousands that would vounteer for such a force.

The idea, possibly not an especially good idea, is certainly worth thinking about.

They Establishment hacks will not close the border any time soon; they all took the Plata.
They’re all on the take from the incredibly wealthy cartels which have already bought the Mexican government and kill anyone who appears to be an effective challenger.
