Dem-Led Colorado City Allowing Only Six Gas Stations in the Name of Climate Change

According to the Colorado Hometown Weekly, the Louisville, CO, city council passed an ordinance allowing only six gas stations in the city to fight climate change.
This is crazy (emphasis mine):
Before the City Council unanimously passed the ordinance Tuesday night, Community Development Director Rob Zuccaro spoke, saying the ordinance would allow only six gas stations within the city.
Five gas stations are in the city, plus one that was recently approved at McCaslin Boulevard. Zucarro clarified that automobile repair and service shops are distinct and are not part of the ordinance.
The ordinance also requires gas stations to be 1,000 feet away from one another. The ordinance states that special use approvals for existing gas stations will expire if that gas station is closed for over a year. The site will need to apply for a special use permit again if it continues to be a gas station.
The ordinance will also require installation of electric vehicle charging stations for any new or modified gas station. There must be enough charging stations to equal 20% of the number of gas pumps at the station, with a minimum of two charging stations available.

Zucarro said the town has wanted to limit gas stations due to “health and environmental concerns.”
You know, unless capitalism comes to town.
Councilmember Maxine Most said the city should not invest in new fossil fuel infrastructure. She seems to think the world prefers electric vehicles.
Most told Fox News: “We have an obligation to take every step possible to address the changes to our climate that are ravaging our planet and directly impacting the health, well-being and livelihoods of the constituents we represent in Louisville.”

A reasonable person would ask “What climate effects, exactly, have been found among your constituents? Who did the research and what were their qualifications? Where were the results published? ”
Of course, climate hysterics would find these questions heretical and an attack against orthodoxy, so burning at the stake might be the inevitable result.
“Symbolism over substance” (h/t Rush) – Feelings prevail over rational common sense thought with these types.
The same questions should be asked about the “changes to our climate that are ravaging our planet,” followed by “and how is this measure going to change any of that?” The answer would no doubt be the same shrill “Well, everybody knows…” probably followed by some meaningless eco-fanatic word salad.
If this is what the 22,000 residents of this Denver suburb want, they got it. Then again, I guess their rulers are going to impose it whether the citizens want it or not.
I’d install the charging stations and then charge $1k per hour to use it.
Also: Dem-led city bans darkness to combat monsters under their beds.
Which is ironic as the Boudler County building code demands “dark sky” fixtures to “reduce nighttime light pollution”. It’s like leaving the closet door open then being scared but not turning on the light.

There are all manner of methods to provide plenty of area lighting and even street lighting while being within Dark Skies Initiative standards. Not all ecologically friendly standards are stupid or costly.
I speak with knowledge. I’m a retired lighting engineer.
Me neither, however the county code is ridiculous to the point it constrains a balanced approach both in rural and neighborhood settings, especially lighting that is critical for security. Dark Sky is a bit overdone.

It’s Boulder County…no surprise…when the well-off get bored. These are the same ninny-types who in late 2021 had the largest fire destroy 600 homes in tight McStain built “subdivisions” in Superior, next door to Louisville, which is also very densely populated with houses and businesses at their express planning.
It’s simple: The City Council is trying to force people into driving useless EV’s so are clamping down on gas stations despite the population density in this area. I’d put good money that at the next meeting they’ll provide for “Free” EV charging stations.

I Stopped in boulder Co to pick up a few supplies for hiking trip in Rocky mountian national park in both Nov 2020 & Nov 2021.
I was yelled at for not wearing a mask in the parking lot of the grocery store.

That should give you some idea of the mentality of Boulder CO / mentality of the “front range” of colorado

In some instances, they have, but not with carbon dioxide. In fact, the best example I can think of for human-caused climate change is the Aral Sea, once the 4th largest lake in the world. Back in the ’60’s the Soviets set up a large cotton plantation by diverting most of the flows of the Amu Darya and Syr Darya, the rivers that fed the Sea from a nearby glacier, they have reduced the Sea to roughly 10% of it’s former volume, and decreasing, and this has caused the climate in central Asia to become much more arid. Over the decades, especially after the Soviet collapse, lack of maintenance became problematic and lacking the skills to repair the irrigation works, the Uzbeks simply increated the flow, diverting even more of the rivers to irrigate their cotton plantation. It has now reached the point where the glaciers that fed the whole system are now shrinking due to the hot and dry climate not being moderated by the Sea itself. THAT is human-caused climate change, and it didn’t take a single coal power plant or SUV.
So this is how the leftist are going to try to get us used to loooong charging waits?? They’ve already reduced the efficiency of gasoline with the addition of ethanol.

The city has a population of about 22,000 so 6 gas stations seems about right.
For all practical purposes, this is a pretty worthless ordinance. The “town” is basically a small suburb of Denver.
For comparison purposes, the towns of highland park and university park are surrounded by the city of dallas have one gas station. They have one gas station simply because the land is too valuable for a gas station.
We live in what is called an ‘inter-glacial period.’ That is, in our orbital dynamics (Milankovitch Cycles) we’re in a certain position that makes our globe warm. In fact, we’re actually a few thousand years beyond the peak and are technically on the downside though it takes centuries for the cooling be noticeable. Ultimately, in about 10,000 years, Canada will be under glaciers once again. It is inevitable, as the global temperature will drop 12C-to-15C.
That’s basic orbital-dynamics, as it has shaped the world’s climate for the past MILLION+ years. And, ironically, despite humans being stone-age primitives in the prior inter-glacial period, it was 2C-to-3C hotter then than is now.
But even in the short-term the CO2 doesn’t matter nearly as much as they scream. We’re around 417 ppm. A million years ago we were at 2,200 ppm. Life was robust and common including our tree-dwelling, proto-ape ancestors from whom we’ve evolved.
It’s same crap for a different generation. In my youth the world was supposed to be starving to death by the mid 1980s. Only Europe and America would have food and S. America, Africa & Asia would be starving to death.
Most of those countries are now food exporters. Just look at the stickers on your produce, half of it comes from Central or South America. And except for Socialist Utopia Venezuela, nobody is starving.
All of the starvation warnings from the climate will now come true … but not by climate. The Ukraine-Russia conflict and the suicidal response by the West has set in motion that very nightmare.
“Climate change” is just another scam to put the financial squeeze on the working poor and middle class.
The jetsetters pushing this crap on the masses don’t even believe their own propaganda, otherwise they wouldn’t bother buying up multimillion dollar beachfront properties.
These fools are north of Denver and south of Boulder. I learned years ago when Jimmy Carter was President what it was like not having a place to get gas from or having to drive and wait. This will lead to people having problems getting gas or having to drive and wait. The fools are thinking of EVs but they are too expensive to buy, too expensive to power, take too long to charge, have limited range in driving, and the batteries do not last for a long time. This will just upset people and vote them out.
Remember “distancing” unless in long lines for TSA at the airports or during the Summer of George of Floyd? Hassle and hassle to force people to go “green”. This is a chokepoint so that people give up.
