China Helps Iran and Saudi Arabia Reestablish Diplomatic Relations

China Helps Iran and Saudi Arabia Reestablish Diplomatic Relations

This is just the beginning. With a weak U.S. government, you can expect China “to play a constructive role in handling hotspot issues in the world and demonstrate its responsibility as a major nation.”

Iran and Saudi Arabia reestablished diplomatic ties after several years, thanks to China. The countries will reopen embassies, too:

The deal, struck in Beijing this week amid its ceremonial National People’s Congress, represents a major diplomatic victory for the Chinese as Gulf Arab states perceive the United States slowly withdrawing from the wider Middle East. It also comes as diplomats have been trying to end a long war in Yemen, a conflict in which both Iran and Saudi Arabia are deeply entrenched.

The two countries released a joint communique on the deal with China, which brokered the agreement as President Xi Jinping was awarded a third five-year term as leader earlier Friday.

The relations soured “in 2016 after protesters attacked its diplomatic posts in Iran following Saudi Arabia’s execution of a prominent Shiite cleric, Nimr al-Nimr.”

But the negotiations is a sign of things to come. China wants to be in the middle of everything:

China has also sought to establish itself as a mediator in the Ukraine war, offering a peace plan to both parties that has so far gained little traction.

Mr Wang said Beijing will continue to play a constructive role in handling hotspot issues in the world and demonstrate its responsibility as a major nation. “The world is not just limited to the Ukraine issue,” he said.

As Mr Biden seeks to pivot to confront a resurgent China, Beijing stepping in to lead diplomatic efforts in the Middle East indicated a major change, said Mr Stephens.

“The US burned its leverage through inconsistency, it’s as simple as that,” he said.

A senior Israeli official said, “There was a feeling of U.S. and Israeli weakness and this is why the Saudis started looking for new avenues. It was clear that this was going to happen.”

The official made the remarks as he traveled with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The White House National Security Council spokesperson responded: “We remain committed to working closely with Israel to jointly address the many challenges and opportunities facing Israel and the Middle East region, including countering threats from Iran. There is no greater supporter of Israel’s security than President Biden.”

Yeah, okay.

But the Israeli official also said the government does not think the Saudi Arabia and Iran agreement won’t affect any plans to normalize relations between Israel and Saudi Arabia.

The Red Sea Deal in July 2022 is considered a step towards a normal relationship between Israel and Saudi Arabia.

You have proof DeSantis isn’t pro-Israel?

Or perhaps you have proof DeSantis is pro-Iranian government?

Or maybe you could start actually discussing the actual article which is about how China mediated restoration of relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia a diplomatic victory for China that reduces the enmity between it’s ally (Iran) and a local rival (Saudi Arabia).

In other words China successfully did what Trump did for Israel and for the same reasons (securing an important ally).

It is very hard to discourage having relations between countries, and the fact that Saudi Arabia is actually within it’s rights when it brutalizes it’s own citizens made Iran’s complaint against Saudi Arabia trivial making it on the easier side for China to come in to encourage burying the hatchet.

The only way Saudi Arabia would have held the line would have been being sure the United States would be there for it which was most definitely not a given.

Republicans threatened Saudi Arabia during Trump, and America decided to hold two minute hate against Saudi Arabia because it executed a would be Islamist Revolutionary Saudi Citizen. The reason I said Republican isn’t because Democrats weren’t worst but because Republicans engaging the moral panic to more than likely made Saudi Arabia correctly question if it could consider the United States a reliable ally.

Trump never said “I am not engaging in your moral panic” which is significant.

It isn’t just Biden, America was not a consistent ally to Saudi Arabia. China on the other hand is not an enemy of Saudi Arabia.

Diplomatic things (such as the rise of China as a diplomatic power) almost always happens for a reason.

“the fact that Saudi Arabia is actually within it’s rights when it brutalizes it’s own citizens”
This phrase is so vile that my mind shies away from even parsing it.
Saudi Arabia has always been a tyranny, and a flagrant suppressor of human rights.
Americans have asked for years why America allied itself with such a wretched country.
There’s always only one answer offered: they have the oil we need.
That may justify a commercial relationship, but it never justified an alliance.

How has intervening in other nations over how they treat their citizens worked out since 2001? Libya is not just in a state worst than before our intervention our intervention worsened things not just for Libyans but for Greeks and Italians to who have to bear the brunt of the refugee crisis we inflicted on them.

Our policy of doing that instead of acknowledging our limits and the rights of other nations over their own citizens has led to the 21st century so far being an atrocious one for America and has not improved the lives of anybody.

For why we would need an Alliance with Saudi Arabia…..same reason we needed alliances and still need alliances all over the world we have strategic and economic interests.

So far the era of exchanging strategic and economic interests for ideological interests has been a catastrophe for human rights with American drones being a major cause of death throughout the middle east, and with America becoming extremely hated. None of our targets ever improve their human rights records because of our meddling.

You can’t introduce Democracy with howitzers and ideology is a horrible substitute for practicality when it comes to foreign policy.

When you say leftists want to attack Israel for ideological reasons is that persuasive?

This shows that power is what matters in international relations, Biden pissed it away.

If it’s innocent, then China is playing chess and Biden plays tiddly winks.

Increasingly, the argument he’s bought and paid for is like the lab leak theory, with a lot more connections.

China Helps Iran and Saudi Arabia Reestablish Diplomatic Relations

So I’m going to assume that Saudi Arabia is no longer going to be a partner with the United States in the “War on Terror” in the Middle East any longer? And that they’ll now dance to the tune of the new world leader – China.

Iran, Saudi Arabia and China have a great deal in common regarding their own people. Since Xi ‘won’ his third term as leader and the other two don’t concern themselves with ‘who’s in charge, the media will soon be awash in petro dollar stories and how the BRICs will rise with the benefit of it. Some outlets are adding South Africa to the BRIC list as the ‘S’ country. Good luck with all that.

A possible benefit coming from this new relationship could be the the start of the end of that nasty civil war in Yemen. Maybe.

South Africa will be bribed by China

It’s such a shit show after 28 years of African rule

It once was a world First Class country

Manadela’s Xhosa vs Zulu with native collateral damage is an artifact of social progress in a liberal society.

And then they’ll get to discover what colonialism is like… all over again.
South Africa is become like Lord of the Flies — a ramshackle society available for the taking by any competent adult who happens upon it.
