Govt Paying $50 Million a Year for Unused Border Wall Materials to Collect Dust

Greg Abbott: “The Biden Admin is spending nearly $50 million a year to do nothing with border wall materials. What a waste.”

The daily cost of storing the border wall materials is $130,000 daily. This is such a waste. Why didn’t they just finish the wall that was already purchased?

Fox News reports:

Republican members of the Senate Armed Forces Committee — using details provided to them in a request for information to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) — sent a letter Wednesday evening to the Defense Department asking why nearly $50 million is being spent each year to store the Trump-era border materials.

Led by ranking member Sen. Roger Wicker, R-Miss., and signed by Texas Sens. Ted Cruz and John Cornyn, along with nearly every other Republican on the committee, the senators wrote that they “are disturbed to learn the Department of Defense is paying private landowners to store border wall materials procured under the Trump Administration instead of fortifying the southern border with those materials.”

“At present, over 20,000 border wall sections, otherwise known as bollard panels, lie unused at 20 project sites across southern Arizona and New Mexico,” the senators said in the letter addressed to Melissa Dalton, the assistant secretary of defense for homeland defense and hemispheric affairs. “Every day, the Department of Defense pays $130,000 to store, maintain, and secure these materials. Since you were sworn in as the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Homeland Defense and Hemispheric Affairs a year ago, you have allowed the Department to pay over $47 million to store these panels. The Department of Defense should not be incurring these daily charges but should be using these funds to bolster national security.” Read the entire article.

Since we had no fund to set up the wall where is the money coming from to store it? I would think just finishing it would be cheaper.

No, no, no, no! Too expensive! Instead, we must send 10,000 times that amount to defend the borders of an obscure Soviet client state with whom we have zero treaties or defense responsibilities. Do you understand now?

The stock market is in freefall again today largely due to the reality of the US and EU banking in collapse. And Janet Yellen’s rambling, stuttering and incomprehensible testimony in Congress added a lot of fuel into the fire.

It’s time for Congress to ACT! Kevin McCarthy has the right idea and voiced it yesterday. Now he has to step up and call out the Uniparty and call for an emergency House session to come up with a radical plan to cut spending. It can’t wait and the Senate is useless. Put it on the table and run with it! Trump, DeSantis and the Freedom Caucus will be right behind you which means Americans will be there for you too. Do it McCarthy!

I guess we should just send these materials to Ukraine.

We all know what the motivation is. Burning $$ is no problem to import a new populace.

Americans, third. Migrants, second. George “fentanyl” Floyd syndrome, in progress.

Biden must be figuring how to send it to Afghanistan.
