In Era of Man-Made Global Warming Doom-Casting, Who Knew Frost Quakes Would Be a Thing?
The temperatures associated with the recent polar vortex are so cold, it will give the term “Blue State” new meanings.
It hasn’t even been three weeks since the World Economic Forum in Davos wrapped up.
Legal Insurrection readers will recall it ended with former secretary of state John Kerry inadvertently admitting that the issue of climate change is all about money while the elites pushed insect-based diets on the rest of the global population in the name of protecting the climate from man-made global warning.
A polar vortex is recently peaked across the North East.
The bitter cold will be caused by a southward plunge of a piece, or lobe, of the polar vortex – a persistent area of low pressure located in the high latitudes of the Northern Hemisphere, the FOX Forecast Center said. The polar vortex is surrounded by a band of strong jet stream winds that circulates around the North Pole, which typically keeps the arctic air contained near the polar regions.
The worst of the cold across the Northeast is ongoing as temperatures sit below zero across all of New England and Upstate New York.
Record low temperatures for February 4 may fall in cities like Boston, Worcester, Providence, and Bridgeport, Connecticut. Single digits are being felt across New York City, Long Island, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
The temperatures are so cold, it will give the term “Blue State” new meanings.
In fact, temperatures on Mars were warmer than on Mt. Washington in New Hampshire.
The utterly frigid weather atop Mount Washington will be too dangerous for hikers to brave this weekend — unless they happen to have a space suit.
Though Boston is set to see wind chills of -30 or lower, Mount Washington’s summit will seem like another planet altogether. Forecasters are expecting wind chills at the summit to drop as low as -110 degrees on Friday night, far lower than the icy -81 degree average on Mars. The Mount Washington Observatory said record-breaking cold of less than -47 degrees is within reach.
Jeff Fongemie, Director of the Mount Washington Avalanche Center, told WBZ NewsRadio that weather this extreme is life-threatening for rescuers too — and could make rescues impossible.
“If somebody’s lost above tree line, and they don’t know where you are, they’re just a needle in a haystack,” he said.
In the era of all this global warming, who could have guessed “frost quakes” would be a thing? But they are.
This is a pretty interesting phenomenon that happens below our feet in the soils of the earth. As temperatures rapidly fall this allows for underground water to freeze.
That ice needs to expand and as it does so it adds pressure to the soil and rocks around it.
As the pressure continues to build, it eventually cracks the soil which can lead to loud bangs and even shaking in the most severe cases.
These so-called frost quakes may be possible in Maine and New Hampshire through Saturday as the arctic front clears the area.
At least in California, we can enjoy a little sunshine and warmth with our quakes!

Whenever I see headlines “OMG we are all gonna die” #climatechange, I just remember reading mags such as Popular Mechanics, 60-70 years ago when it was “Mini-Ice age mid 21st century. Widespread crop failures, millions starve to death. Back then it was space mirrors to warm the planet. Perhaps, increasing CO2 will help blunt the coming “mini-ice age”.
These useful idiots remind me of a line I heard, paraphrasing:
“We’re changing the name of the planet Uranus to avoid sophmoric humor during astronomy class. From now on, we call that planet “Urectum”.
All I can think of is Frosted Flakes.

Y’all can keep that cold weather. I’ll stick with the occasional potential tornado and a remote chance of a super big/bad hurricane (60 miles from the Gulf) as my known risks.
Y’all can keep the “potential” tornados, which have the “potential” for death and heartbreaking destruction. I’ll take the occasional and predictable very cold weather, which I can prepare for adequately.

But seriously, Wyoming had a few in the past week. You’d think they would know about them, but the article made it sound like folks there were surprised.
I thought AOC said that we were all going to die by 2030 if we did not move faster on “Climate Change”. I did not realize that she meant that we were all going to freeze to death. Anyone living in these areas who buys an EV is asking for trouble.
Mt Washington is south of where I grew up and everyone up there is well aware of the extreme weather. Until recently they held the highest wind speed record ever recorded. Friday night they tied the record low temp of -47 but with the wind near 100mph the windchill of -108F is a record for the United States. In a grand understatement they said “…really, the difference between -80 and -100 isn’t a big deal”
I’m in New Hampshire. It was so cold that the Chinese Spy Balloon decided to bypass us and head for warmer climes.
Wait, you mean us semi-tropic adapted, hairless apes can’t go anydamnwhere any time we like out in nature?

“Frost quakes” not on my bingo card. These people are so much more creative than I can keep up with.
What’s the froze to death count from them making us all Texas in an ice story? Plus projected heat-related deaths form grid-free summer heat? What’s the same projection with natural gas supplies unavailable. We didn’t even have to blow up a pipeline for that. We have the NY State govt.
At a start, anyone who dies with these policies in play counts as “died of Teh Gaia.” Hey, that’s good enough for dealing with The Most Dangerous Pandmic Ever (til The Next One.) Certainly that’s good enough for calibrating the results of killing utility outages. (It’s only those old people — we were done with them anyway. Those euthanasia doses of sedatives are expensive; what do you want from us, anyway?)
We can calibrated fatality projections with this Winter’s data from Germany. When do those numbers come out?
When I was in high school in the sixties they told us all we were about to freeze to death. By the year 2000 the world would be covered in a sheet of ice!! They had us getting under desks in grade school to supposedly preparing for atomic bomb attacks! Nothing has changed. Same old rhetoric just different scenarios. Weather is cyclical. None of us were around when the Ice Age wiped out the Wooly Mammoth. None of us were around when the dinosaurs disappeared.
