House Republicans to Probe Climate Czar John Kerry’s Negotiations with China

Republican-led House Oversight and Accountability Committee concerned that Kerry’s activities could undermine American interests.

Special Presidential Envoy for Climate (SPEC) John Kerry’s secretive eco-negotiations with his Chinese counterparts is now being probed by the Republican-led House Oversight and Accountability Committee, per a recently issued letter chairman of that committee, John Comer (Rep, KY).

Comer informed Kerry in a letter sent Thursday afternoon that the committee, under his leadership, has opened an investigation into Kerry’s role in the Biden administration and, in particular, his high-level climate negotiations with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). To date, Kerry has ignored information and document requests from Comer and other committee Republicans sent when they were in the minority.

“To date, you have failed to respond to any of our requests,” Comer wrote to Kerry. “Yet, you continue to engage in activities that could undermine our economic health, skirt congressional authority, and threaten foreign policy under the guise of climate advocacy.”

In his letter, Comer cited a May 2022 interview with the Associated Press in which Kerry acknowledges working with the Chinese to form a group to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

In an interview with The Associated Press during the World Economic Forum gathering in Davos, Kerry said the two nations, the world’s largest emitters of greenhouse gases, were close to agreeing on the structure of the group and how decisions would be made.

“We are going to work on the practicalities of how we move faster” to reduce emissions, said Kerry. “Maybe we can help with technology of some kind to help China move faster. Maybe China could help us better understand some things we could do better.”

Comer expressed serious concern about the level of US commitment associated with negotiations and Kerry’s priorities.

“In the 117th Congress, we requested information from you regarding your position as special presidential envoy for climate (SPEC) — a cabinet-level position that does not require Senate confirmation despite your apparent ability to bind the United States to international agreements — and SPEC employees’ ties to outside organizations.

…“As a member of the President’s cabinet, you should be representing the United States’ interests. Your statements, however, consistently show disregard for American national security and taxpayer dollars,” continued Comer. “Your office continues to ignore requests for information. We are left with an insufficient understanding of your office’s activities, spending, and staffing.”

Comer gave Kerry until Feb. 16 to comply with his panel’s document request.

The material requested includes all documents and communications between Kerry’s office and any third party — including but not limited to any environmental advocacy group or foreign government official.

It also seeks information from Kerry’s office budgets, as well as a full list of employees, titles and salaries. Comer also wants all documents and communications regarding Kerry’s domestic and international travel as special envoy.

Comer said the documents would provide “necessary transparency” and also “enable long-overdue oversight of your office.”

Here’s hoping Comer can get the documentation needed for the negotiations. Learning how much American prosperity Kerry has signed away in these negotiations will be informative.

Meanwhile, in light of its most recent cold snap, China might also be less interested in “global warming” alarmism, limiting the about of fossil fuels it can use.

China’s meteorological authority has also forecast big temperature drops in parts of the country and on Monday issued a blue alert for a cold wave – the lowest level in a four-tier warning system.

Mohe, China’s northernmost city, on Sunday saw temperatures drop to minus 53 degrees Celsius (minus 63.4 degrees Fahrenheit) – its coldest ever recorded, meteorologists said. Ice fog – a weather phenomenon that occurs only in extreme cold when water droplets in air remain in liquid form – is also expected in the city this week, local authorities said.

“China’s meteorological authority has also forecast big temperature drops in parts of the country and on Monday issued a blue alert for a cold wave – the lowest level in a four-tier warning system.”

This is why China is flying weather balloons over the US and the rest of the world, to assist them in making such forecasts. Nothing to see, move along.

It’s about time this treasonous gigolo faces the music.

Kerry is among the most narcissistic fools in a Dumb-o-crat Party brimming with them.

Does anyone really think that this will serve any purpose?

It’s all kabuki … and bad kabuki at that.

Either Kerry is acting on authority of Brandon and must submit to Congressional oversight or he is acting on his own making foreign policy and speaking for the US which I don’t think is kosher. A private citizen can’t bind the US to anything.

“… Kerry’s activities could undermine American interests.”

Could? Could???

Kerry, like most democrats hates America and sees destroying her as his mission in life.

Let the subpoenas issue forthwith !

Id like Kerry’s role in negotiating with Iran BEFORE Trumps Presidency ended investigated.

That to me seems more seditiony than anything Democrats created on Jan 6.
