NYC DA Offers Cushy Plea Deals To “Pro-Palestinian” Thugs Who Assaulted Jews on City Streets

Plea lets Waseem Awawdeh, who allegedly beat Joseph Borgen with crutches, plead to a lesser charge and serve 6 months instead of the 3½-15 years he currently faces.

Two of the four defendants charged in New York City criminal court with brutally beating Joseph Borgen on May 20, 2021, have been offered generous plea deals. The four are accused of assaulting Jews at a pro-Israel protest near Times Square while shouting ‘You dirty Jew, f— Israel, go back to your country.’

The two offered deals were Waseem Awawdeh and Faisal Elezzi. Awawdeh is reportedly the one who beat Borgen with crutches. He later publicly asserted that he “would do it again.” Awawdeh also appears to have been charged with criminal mischief/property damage in Brooklyn (Kings County) last Kristallnacht (November 10, 2022).

According to Manhattan District Attorney’s Office Press Officer Kay Nguyen, the deals won’t be confirmed until they are entered on the record. That’s expected to happen on defendants’ next scheduled court date, which is January 26. The plea requires Awawdeh to plead guilty to Attempted Assault in the Second Degree as a Hate Crime, and serve six months’ incarceration followed by five years’ probation. Awawdeh is currently charged with (actual) Assault in the Second Degree as a Hate Crime.

Elezzi, who has been charged with a lesser offense, is only required to plead guilty to Attempted Assault in the Third Degree as a Hate Crime. In exchange, he will serve no prison time. Instead, he will be sentenced to a period of intensive diversionary programming.

No plea deals have been offered to the other two defendants, Mahmoud Musa and Mohammed Othaman. The highest offense with which both have been charged is Assault in the Second Degree as a Hate Crime. That’s the same offense with which Awawdeh was charged. According to Nyugen, it carries a minimum term of 3½ years’ imprisonment, and a maximum term of 15 years’ imprisonment.

In other words, Awawdeh, who is charged with a crime carrying a sentence of 3½-15 years’ imprisonment after beating Borgen with crutches, will serve six months after pleading to a lesser charge.

There are legitimate reasons for reaching plea agreements to lesser charges, such as the difficulty of proving a charge. With film of at least part of the assault, and a defendant claiming he’d do it again, that doesn’t seem to be the case here.

District Attorney Alvin Bragg – who recently turned over a 2,700-2,800 year-old Judean artifact to the Palestinian Authority – offered this statement supposedly explaining the plea deal decision: “This Office does not tolerate antisemitic attacks and will continue prosecuting hate crimes vigorously, using every tool at our disposal to address hate. Here, following an extensive investigation, senior leadership of the D.A.’s newly expanded Hate Crimes Unit determined appropriate plea and sentencing recommendations based on the facts, available evidence and varying levels of culpability.”

Actions speak louder.

Jews need to man up and start extracting a price from those who treat Jews as easy targets.

The law isn’t going to help them so they might as well protect themselves.

Doing so ensures that a few Jewish men will end up in prison. It may indeed be the price to be paid to protect the Jewish community in NYC, but the thugs beating up Jews right now won’t be the only ones paying a price.

Not if the residents of the Jewish areas adopt the black, er… Black attitude: din’t see nuttin’ . “Such stitches you’ll get if you snitch!”

They used to do that, in some neighborhoods, most famously Williamsburg. Search the web for “chaptzem” or “chaptsem” (Yiddish for “catch him”). On the whole it worked, but some people got in serious legal trouble and if I recall correctly some even did time.

And yes, Grizz, their all looking alike did help; there were multiple cases that fell apart when the victim (i.e. the original perpetrator) couldn’t identify his assailant at trial; they would pack the gallery with people who had beards of the same color and the same general build. But getting that far was punishment enough, not to mention the expense of a defense. And it didn’t always work.

The problem aren’t these people, but the liberal Jews (atheists, really) who have and continue to empower them.

The more the public gets to feeling that they will get no justice at the hands of government the more they’ll be inclined to dish out “street justice”. The way to prevent this from happening is simple: the government starts doing the job we’re paying it to do.

This is so utterly nauseating and indefensible. Indeed, evil.

What other message is sent by such lenient treatment of goose-stepping Muslim terrorists/supremacists/thugs, other than that their violent predations visited upon American Jews will not be punished with severity and met with a substantive response? And, the vile Dhimmi-crats are totally complicit in this evil.

why does it appear that it is mostly “the [black] vile Dhimmi-crats [who] are totally complicit in this evil.”
Ooh! y’ can’t say that: that’s a “hate crime!” cause it’s true.

There are many reasons to go, but safety isn’t one of them. Nor is this story a reason; unfortunately the same thing, with the same outcome, is just as likely over there. Not only is the legal establishment and the judiciary solidly in the hands of the left, but the elected branches have no control at all, no say in the matter; the prosecutors and judges are self-selected and independent, and can override any government decision they don’t like.

The new government will allegedly attempt to do something about this disgraceful situation, but I have serious doubts that they will get anywhere, and I even doubt that Netanyahu really wants it; he’s going through the motions because his new coalition partners insist on it, and he’s stuck with them because he couldn’t persuade any of his enemies to join him in order to “save the country” from his new partners.

The left is now threatening civil war. And the man most responsible for the judicial coup against democracy, Aharon Barak, who in any other country would have been thrown in a cell for life, is still active and drumming up opposition.

Israel was established so that Jews would not be in a minority wherever they were and, therefore, defenseless. Take Kishinev as a prime example. No, Brown Shirts are not yet walking the streets. But these things happen over time. Maybe not in your lifetime. But without a doubt it happens. Or has something suddenly changed in human nature from the last 2,000 years and no one told me?

This is what happens when you have a Soros paid for DA

To some extent, the problem aren’t these people, but the liberal Jews (atheists, really) who have and continue to empower them. Carry a 6” broom handle in your fist for self protection. Brass knuckles are illegal.
