MSNBC Panel: Trump’s Return to Social Media Will be the End of Democracy
“As a country or as a company, you don’t want to hand over the keys to democracy to have someone destroy that democracy. Do you want to be that institution that really helps take down the country?”
It was recently reported that Facebook and Instagram would follow Twitter and allow Trump to return to their platforms. This is giving some folks in liberal media a relapse into Trump Derangement Syndrome.
On MSNBC’s Morning Joe, panelists speculated that this could end democracy.

An MSNBC panel sounded the alarm after Meta reinstated former President Trump on Facebook and Instagram, claiming that the decision could cripple American democracy.
During Thursday’s “Morning Joe,” Lincoln Project co-founder George Conway, historian Jon Meacham, and left-wing New York Times editorial board member Mara Gay collectively panned Meta for the move.
Conway said the decision was both “mystifying” and “ridiculous,” adding he was “very worried” about the potential impact on U.S. democracy.
“They think, ‘Well oh, the fire’s out, so even though this guy has a cache of matches and gasoline that he carries around with him, let’s let him just play with matches again,” Conway said…
Gay, who has previously voiced concern about Trump’s place in American politics, as well as his supporters, compared Meta’s decision to past instances of chemical companies supporting the infrastructure that creates weapons of war.
“As a country or as a company, you don’t want to hand over the keys to democracy to have someone destroy that democracy. Do you want to be that institution that really helps take down the country?” she asked.

They keep using that word. I don’t think it means what they think it means.
Every vote they don’t like is a threat to democracy. So what they really mean is a threat to getting their own way.
That’s why they use mail-in ballots and drop boxes, with a sprinkle of ballot harvesting.

Democracy can be a frightening form of government if done poorly. The only ongoing threat to ‘our democracy’ is the continued existence of the “Democratic Party”. .

Actually, Democracy started in 2020, and the Republic ended. Now we have mob rule, of which the seeds began when the Community Organizer planted them.
I agree that mob rule seems to govern in a lot of circumstances, but I still have some doubts on the underlying accuracy of the ballot counting.

When Barry Sotero a/k/a Barack Obama used Facebook and Twitter to spread his news in 2008, he was hailed as a 21st Century genius, who knew how to connect to the younger electorate, unlike fuddy-duddy white Republicans.
But when Donald Trump did the same in 2016, the was the anti-Christ, heralding the end of democracy as Democrats knew it, and Democrats make absolutely positively certain Donald Trump could not get his word out in 2020.

In a similar vein….my HS student was applying for an after school job at the elementary school and 2 of the questions asked in the application were:
1. Do you support overthrowing the government
2. Do you support a political party that wants to overthrow the government
WTH? An this is in Williamson County Tennessee (outside of Nashville).
