Frustrated Joy Behar: “Just As We’re This Close To Getting” Trump, “Somehow” the Biden Classified Docs Appear

The walls were closing in on Trump, Sonny Hostin goes all conspiracy nutter: “Does it feel like the Republicans are behind it?”

I’m really enjoying Joe Biden getting caught with classified documents. The “walls were closing in” on Trump, and BAM! uncle Joe gets caught, it took the wind out of the media, sending them spinning like tops to distinguish why TRUMP BAD, JOE GOOD for having classified docs.

But few things are as satifying as the sense of the frustration in the voices of the ladies on The View. Joy Behar:

“Just as we’re this close to getting [Trump], somehow these documents appear.”

Then Sunny Hostin goes all conspiracy nutter, implying this was a set up:

“Does it feel like the Republicans are behind it?”

I never watch The View, I only watch clips of The View. But it all sounded so familiar:

Honestly, if all of this leads to better treatment and transparency of national information then I’m all for it for both sides.

But I’m not optimistic…Chronologically, she wasn’t first, but we first heard of this with Hillary. She skated with no charges. Then, they go after Trump and it’s all day long agit-prop. Then, Biden info leaks and it’s still nothing. This should be SCREAMING at anyone who is independently minded enough to see it that having one party be in charge of the narrative on integrity of the country is a TERRIBLE idea.

Oh, don’t forget the amazing antics of the Clintons, with disappearing document from libraries, documents suddenly “appearing” on tables in the WH, and of course, the Arkancides.

2smartforlibs | January 12, 2023 at 1:07 pm

Trump has the presidential papers cat. Somethitgner even your boy slick got away with. There is no VP papers act.

    TheOldZombie in reply to 2smartforlibs. | January 12, 2023 at 1:38 pm

What’s the cats name? And who appointed said feline to the position. 😉

Interested Party in reply to 2smartforlibs. | January 12, 2023 at 2:59 pm

Sorry but that’s not true. The Presidential Records Act includes a subsection (two after the one that states former Presidents have access to their info) that gives former Vice-Presidents the same rights.

ThePrimordialOrderedPair in reply to Interested Party. | January 13, 2023 at 1:35 am

I guess Joetato was keeping the records on ice as construction of his Vice Presidential library was being negotiated with the Chinese.

Vice Presidents have rights to records but not to declassifying anything or taking anything of the sort. Further, Vice Presidents are not expected to have Vice Presidential libraries which will serve as the final storage location of their records.

But it does not endow the vice president with the authority to declassify sensitive documents.

Milhouse in reply to cheeflo. | January 17, 2023 at 2:42 pm

Neither does it endow the president with that power. We are discussing the Presidential Records Act. 2Smart said that Trump had it and Biden didn’t, and that is just not true. That is all. Whatever powers a president possesses under any other law are irrelevant to the discussion.

DaveGinOly in reply to Milhouse. | January 17, 2023 at 8:57 pm

It doesn’t have to. The chief executive has original authority to classify and declassify documents. Everyone else in government exercising that same authority has been delegated to do so. Before you say “There’s nothing in the Constitution to that effect”, where do you think the authority that’s been delegated to others comes from? Why would a court rule that classified documents in the possession of an FPOTUS are “presumptively declassified”? (Hint: Because nobody who has the authority to declassify information would have to steal classified documents. He can just declassify them and then take the now-declassified documents. And no court can prove the documents weren’t declassified, because nobody has the authority to impose a process for declassification, because if Congress attempted it, it would violate the separation of powers.)

Yes and no. It directs that VP records are treated like the Presidents but it does not give the VP the right to remove Classified Records or Declassify them unlike former Presidents who can Declassify anything. Joey Bag Of Donuts broke multiple laws just possessing them and since he claims to have not idea they were in his garage and elsewhere there are a number of people who handled them that have some questions to be answered. I wonder who Joey is going to throw under the bus?

        Milhouse in reply to diver64. | January 17, 2023 at 2:47 pm

That would be yes and yes. You said it yourself: It directs that VP records are treated like the Presidents. That is all. It doesn’t give the VP or the president the right to remove classified records or declassify them, so that part is irrelevant.

As for whether Biden actually had the power to declassify documents, that depends entirely on whether 0bama gave it to him. For all we know he may have; if you’re accusing him of a crime the burden is on you to prove it.

But then, you’re the one who doesn’t give a damn about the truth, and sees everything in terms of whose ox is gored. So this is just par for the course.

Milhouse in reply to Milhouse. | January 17, 2023 at 7:33 pm

My apologies to diver64, I mixed you up with another user whose username looks similar to me, but whose honesty (or lack thereof) is very different. I withdraw the aspersion on your character.

The truth is that the laws protecting classified information don’t apply to presidents or former presidents. They do apply to Secretaries of State and Vice Presidents. Hillary and Biden should be in prison.

Steven Brizel in reply to ConradCA. | January 15, 2023 at 9:33 pm

Maybe Biden after the multiple investigations run their course and we learn about who donated 22M for the think tank and who had access or was given access to these documents will decide ala LBJ in 1968 not to run again

“Sancho… that damn windmill just won’t go down!

Somebody has cause and effect reversed. The Biden docs were discovered *before* the Trump raid. Since there’s no such thing as a secret in DC (at least for long), it could be argued that the FBI had to ‘pounce’ quickly before this broke or it could wreck any chance of them getting their hands on them.

It makes more sense if the Trump documents place the FBI in a rather uncomfortable light. As a conspiracy theory, it makes even more sense the more the DOJ tries to keep *anybody* from actually looking at the documents, including the Special Master that they fought so hard against.

The problem with being a right wing conspiracy nut is that our conspiracies keep coming true!

BierceAmbrose in reply to georgfelis. | January 12, 2023 at 2:37 pm

…and they could “pounce” on The Donald’s Margaritaville home on demand because *they knew what Trump had* *because they were arguing about it.*

From Musashi’s Book of Five Rings(*), the Fire Book(**): “Speed is not the essence of strategy; timing is the essence of strategy.”

(*) Absent a reason to do otherwise, I start with the Thomas Cleary translations for Asian classics, sometimes following up with other scholars, or translations. He help a Harvard Ph D in Asian Languages and Civilizations, so clearly a hack — let the hot-take idiot sliming begin.

(*) For the hot take idiots — it is conventional to refer to the sections of the “Book of Five Rings” as “Books.” Indeed, “rings” is a potential alternate meaning for a term that can also mean “book”, the sections — the “rings” — are referred to also as “books” within the text

Always good to see that someone else has read some decent philosophy.

BierceAmbrose in reply to CommoChief. | January 15, 2023 at 1:18 am

        Likewise.

I’m alaso not above suckering New, New Thing biz-fad bois with “sen, sen no sen”, when they’re talking about “strategy” from Five Rings. You are just bleating key-words. If you’d engaged with it, you’d have seen that coming.

I suspect dueling-period Musashi would not object — whatever works; tho later Musashi wouldn’t bother to tell me to take two Takuan n find a cave to grow up in. (Unfettered Mind — amazing to me how this and Five Rings counterpoint and illuminate each other.)

It won’t do any good to ask Biden. He can’t remember. He can’t remember what he had for breakfast. He can’t even answer a question unless the answer is written on a card

TheOldZombie in reply to Paula. | January 12, 2023 at 1:40 pm

He can’t even answer correctly when he reads the card. That’s how we got this:

DOOCY: “Classified materials next to your Corvette?! What were you thinking?”

BIDEN: “My Corvette’s in a locked garage so it’s not like it’s sitting on the street.”

DOOCY: “So the material was in a locked garage?”

BIDEN: “Yes— as well as my Corvette.”

    https://twitter.com/bennyjohnson/status/1613568419390963712

“I take the security of my Corvette seriously!”

DaveGinOly in reply to TheOldZombie. | January 17, 2023 at 9:04 pm

He has also denied knowing the documents were in his possession. This is how “seriously” he takes the issue of classified information. He (and his supporters) think this excuses him, but it condemns him for his negligence. It’s an offense for a person with a duty to protect classified material to fail to do so. There are two ways a person can mishandle classified information – intentionally and negligently. The law makes no distinction between the two. (Although espionage attaches to willful mishandling with intent to deliver it to a foreign power.)

Maaaaaaaaaaan, they were this close 🤌 to getting Trump!!! 😂😂😂

And Garland just appointed a Special Counsel.

“The Russians did it!” You know they want to say it.

SeekingRationalThought | January 12, 2023 at 4:15 pm

Joy Behar is truly an idiotic piece of human rubbish, isn’t she? How can anyone be that stupid, hypocritical and lacking in self-awareness, all at the same time?

Seems a third batch has been discovered.
In 2018 Hunter claimed to own and live at the house.
Whether he owned or just stayed there Hunter had unlimited access to the documents. Let it sink in. “Hunter Biden claimed Russians stole another one of his laptops for blackmail while he was close.”
Where is the FBI?

Whoopi didn’t mind it being “spun a certain way” when it involved Trump.

Yesterday afternoon, while Biden was giving an interview in which he admitted that he knew about those secret documents in his locked garage, other Democrats were out front declaring that those same documents were planted, probably by Trump.

What a true moron. She has no clue about the presidential papers act, yet she thinks it’s fine for a VP with no authority to have s.c.i.f. papers in his garage.

BierceAmbrose | January 15, 2023 at 1:19 am

So, to paraphrase The Not So Joyful One, there: “Show me the Bad Orange Man, and we’ll find a way to get him, eventuall?”

Joy Behar is the waking definition of Trump Derangement Syndrome.
It’s not enough that Donald Trump was defeated in the last election and replaced with a beloved Democrat like Joe Biden.

Now TWO YEARS LATER, and Joy is still obsessed with this fantasy of Donald Trump in handcuffs, sitting in a cold dark prison cell.

Behar in …

2017: We’re this close to getting Trump!
2018: We’re this close to getting Trump!
2019: We’re this close to getting Trump!
2020: We’re this close to getting Trump!
2021: We’re this close to getting Trump!
2022: We’re this close to getting Trump!
2023: We’re this close to getting Trump!

Etc., etc.

The dames infesting/infecting The View TV show constantly offer proof that the 19th-amendment was a horrible mistake and must be repealed before it is too late to prevent the USA from self-destruction.

BierceAmbrose | January 15, 2023 at 3:00 pm

JoyLess, there — sorry not specific enough: too many JoyLess talking heads named “Joy” out there — um…

Joy of the One True View, there — better — is now and ever about getting The Bad Orange Man, but why?

… he’s a boor? — compared to what?

… a womanizer? — compared to who?

…. shoots his mouth off? — you don’t have to agree, but you know what he thinks, and he’s hysterical.

… a security risk? Compared to IT contracting Al Queda , drug-addled family brokering influence deals, CCP-China operatives as personal driver, or very pesonal friend?

…and he’s hardly the only politicritter of questionable coiff.

You gotta wonder what is this Joyless one’s joy in this, besides the thin Joy of playing outrage-y outrage to the cheap seats.

Steven Brizel | January 15, 2023 at 9:14 pm

Biden clearly acted illegally The questions arise as to how many such documents exist when did Biden take them and who distributed them together with who were the donors for the so called think tank and the payback to U of P loom larger as this administration attempts to stonewall the investigation and limit the role of a special counsel

Steven Brizel | January 15, 2023 at 9:16 pm

When you see Adam Schiff and Adam Weissman two of the most vociferous anti Trump attack dogs raising the isssue that Biden may have jeopardized national security and that Biden is not transparent that says a lot right there about the rats beginning to jump ship

The propellor on Joyless Behar’s dunce cap is twirling faster, indicating a severe loss of balance and a foreseeable disturbance for the future of all mankind, according to expert forecasters who study these things…

BierceAmbrose | January 17, 2023 at 1:35 pm

Breaking — Now we’re hearing that more of the same happened in 2010. Hey, at least he’s consistent.

There is a reason for Dems to plant these documents on Joe.
In raiding MAL, and starting a firestorm over Trump’s possession (as an FPOTUS) of classified documents, they have found they bit off more than they can chew. They want out, but don’t know how to do it without upsetting their rabid anti-Trump base.
Plant classified documents on Biden, and they’ve turned the tables by setting up a pass for Joe that will also be given to Trump. It makes it look like they’re “playing fair”, when in fact what they’re doing is just to extricate themselves from a mess of their own making.
Not saying I believe this, but it shows that sometimes conspiracy theories can cut either way. It is not necessarily always obvious who is behind a hit, or what their motives are for making it.

BierceAmbrose in reply to DaveGinOly. | January 18, 2023 at 1:52 pm

Best take I’ve seen yet. Reminds me of The Soul of a New Machine:

“We’re playing a game… This game has rules. The first rule is you never explicitly play by these rules.”

That named game was “… called getting a system out the door.”, and they succeeded. However, in that story, playing The (org) Big Game, they ended up also-rans.

Any similarity to cultural super-cargo vs. the stuff that makes it go is … well, right on point, really.

BierceAmbrose in reply to DaveGinOly. | January 18, 2023 at 2:02 pm

    My Tinfoil Hat notes:

The way classified documents are managed, they hadda know Biden had this stuff and they knew exactly what was in prezzy 45’s contested personal presidential papers. That’s without there being an ongoing pissing contest with the natl records folks about who had claim on what — you’re gonna argue about who gets what, you gotta make a list, right?

For classified documents, they also know what’s in, and not yet in, the LightBringer’s presidential library; what was, and was not, returned to the Feds.

I’m not saying I’ve seen the files on file, banked to be pulled out when they need fodder for some info op. (Likely “calssically Russian” in technique and ear marks. What works, works.)

I am saying, when a planet is orbiting weird, you might wanna look where gravity would be to steer it like you’re seeing
